The One I Left Behind kicks off the Plain Daisy Ranch series with one heck of a start. Ben and Gillian’s story starts off like any good romance. Ben and Gillian are high school sweethearts and desperately in love. However, when Ben leaves town to follow his football dreams, he leaves Gillian behind. Fourteen years later, Ben returns home and it’s as though no time has passed. Gillian swore to herself that she’d never get left behind again and would protect her heart at all costs…

Together, Gillian and Ben were quite the force. Their chemistry was undeniable despite the years and pain between them. And when Ben discovers that Gillian has a son, he doesn’t get scared away. Instead, he wants to get to know Gillian’s son Clayton. He wants to show that he’s not afraid of doing the work or putting in the time with the people and things Gillian cares about. I loved watching these two characters grow and work past their issues on their way to happily ever after. If ever there was a couple I wanted to have a second chance at love, it was this one.

The One I Left Behind wasn’t all hearts and flowers. Despite being fairly tame with the drama aspect, this story does touch on some sensitive subject matter and this duo did an incredible job with it.

If you’re looking for a small-town, second chance romance that will utterly consume you and have you fall head over heels for all of the characters, you’ve got to get your hands on The One I Left Behind. I loved everything about this book and can not wait to see where this series will go next.

Grin smug, I was maybe a foot from the Jeep when I heard a crack and looked down.

Slowly, I looked over my right shoulder.

Hell was waiting for me there.

With a yell, I grabbed the driver’s side door and jerked it open, then started the Jeep and hit the accelerator with a bear close behind me.

“Ahhhhh!” Hazel screamed as she got thrown across the back seat. “I’m not buckled in.”

“But you are alive.” I took a turn, then another, then went up onto the highway and headed toward the small town of Canon Beach. “You’re alive.”

I was damn near hyperventilating when she crawled into the front seat, buckled up, and turned to me, her brown eyes twinkling. “Naked and Afraid has nothing on us.”

“Well,” I joked, “at least the afraid part. We didn’t have to get naked.”

The air thickened.

Shit.

Again, I did it to myself.

“I guess.” Her voice was quiet. “There are no rules in nature, anyway.”

Vague.

I wanted to ask her what she meant, and then I wanted to analyze and digest every part of the sentence.

My grip tightened on the steering wheel. “We’ll just find a hotel.”

Yes, because that would fix every ounce of sexual tension—forced proximity, a comfy bed, bathrobes, and adrenaline.

Sure.

MY REVIEW

This book is why I read romance. I mean, it had it all. From a marriage of convenience to forced proximity with a stellar opposites attract vibe. Skies Over Caledonia checked off all of my boxes and left me with a huge smile on my face…

Allegra Howard has only felt safe in one place and wants nothing more than to settle down in Scotland. There’s just one tiny problem, immigration wants to send her packing. Desperate to stay in Scotland, Allegra comes up with a crazy plan; marry Jared to stay in the country, and in return, she’ll invest in his family’s farm. Seems easy enough until their buried attraction for one another reaches its boiling point. Lines are being blurred and feelings are coming into question and if that wasn’t enough to deal with, someone is messing with Jared’s farm.

Skies Over Caledonia is hands down my favorite in the Highlands series and is one of the best marriage of convenience stories I’ve come across this year. Allegra and Jared’s story was utterly consuming and kept me on my toes.

On the surface, Allegra seems flighty and wild, but that description of her couldn’t be further from the truth. She has endured and experienced more than most. She’s had her fair share of disappointments and heartbreaks and is just looking for a place where she fits. And Jared….On the surface, he seems broody and closed off, but when you really get to know him, you see someone whose life has been turned upside down and who would do anything for his family. He keeps his heart guarded and is fiercely protective of those he deems worthy. Together, Jared and Allegra were an unstoppable force. They were opposites in every way, yet they couldn’t fight the pull between them and I loved seeing them navigate their way through uncharted waters together.

Skies Over Caledonia was not all hearts and flowers. This story was filled with some of the best angst and will really tug at your heartstrings. I mean, with two broken characters just trying to find their places in the world and an unexpected romance, how could you possibly go wrong? And when you add a dash of mystery and suspense, you’ve got yourself one heck of an entertaining read. If you’re looking for a swoon-worthy, marriage of convenience story with delicious angst that will steal your heart, you’ve got to get your hands on Skies Over Caledonia. This story gave me all the feels and is a must-read for 2024!

After reading Moonlit Thorns, I knew without a doubt, that I had to get my hands on the next installment, ASAP. And believe me when I tell you, this series keeps getting better and better!

Shattered Vows is the second installment of the Midnight Manor series and follows the story of Kol and Rapsody. Once upon a time, Kol and Rapsody fell hard and fell fast. But, Rapsody isn’t like the other girls. She’s lived an incredibly sheltered life and when their love is put to the test, Rapsody disappears and ruins everything. Now, years later, Kol is on a mission for revenge and kidnapping Rapsody seems like the perfect plan…

Shattered Vows sucked in from the very first page. Rapsody is the perfect representation of Rapunzel. She’s innocent and sheltered. She only knows the life her mother has given her and has never questioned it until Kol. Kol is his own brand of darkness. He’s intense and not afraid to go after the things he wants. Together, these two shouldn’t work but their connection is all-consuming and I loved seeing Kol and Rapsody navigate through all the hurdles P. Rayne threw at them.

P. Rayne has completely knocked it out of the park with Shattered Vows. The characters are the perfect mix of dark and light. They are complex and intriguing. You’ll find yourself utterly consumed, desperate for answers, and ultimately, will lose track of time because you can’t stop reading.

If you’re a fan of fairytale re-tellings, you won’t want to miss Shattered Vows. This modern-day, Rapunzel re-telling is filled with action, suspense, angst, and danger. It more than delivers with its secrets, revelations, sexy good times, and of course romance.

MY REVIEW

This Summer Will Be Different is a sweet and satisfying love story that sucked me in from the very first page. I thought this book was well-written and entertaining. The characters felt real and were easy to relate to. I was utterly consumed by Lucy and Felix. Their chemistry is instant and explosive. They know they can’t be together, but no matter how hard they try, staying away proves to be impossible.

This Summer Will Be Different is everything I was hoping it would be. I loved the forbidden relationship between Felix and Lucy. Their story is the kind that will have you devouring all the words and rooting for them to find their way to happily ever after.

That being said, This Summer Will Be Different isn’t just a love story, but a story of a friendship that will stand the test of time, and the family that you make. This Summer Will Be Different blew my expectations out of the water and is easily one of my top reads of 2024!

I started writing after having my little girl, Evie, December of 2015. All during my pregnancy with her I read. I only wanted to read romance novels and I read everything I could get my hands on. I would read a book a day — sometimes two. In January I was staying up late with her and just thinking of all these stories. They came to me constantly. I finally sat down and just started writing. I always wanted to do it so I figured, why not?

I never thought I would reach this point of success to be honest. It’s insane to me that I have connected with so many readers.

And I love each and every one of them for all of their support. I’ll be honest, some days are HARD. I have my littles during the day and I write at night.
