My Review
Objective Lesson was a quick read for me. I was drawn to this book and was intrigued by the synopsis, so I decided to give it a try. I’m gonna be honest with you, I think this novella, is going to be one of those books that you’re either going to love or you’re going to hate. When I first started reading it, I thought it had a ton of potential. However, there were some moments that were just hard for me to get past. Let me just say that when it comes to hot sex, I am no prude. In fact, the hotter the better. However, when Ax decided he needed to teach Anna a lesson, he took it too far for my taste. It was graphic, cruel, and offensive. Quiet honestly, it pissed me off. That first sexual encounter really turned me off to the story and it made me really dislike Ax. I didn’t really understand or see why he needed to take things so far; especially given what he knows about Anna’s past. And honestly, the only thing that kept me from dnfing this book was that I wanted to see how things turned out for Anna.
Overall, Objective Lesson was an alright read. I thought it was a bit rushed in places and would have liked to have seen things slowed down; really get a feel for the characters, their story, their chemistry. As far as characters go, I couldn’t really relate to or understand any of them. I did understand some of where Anna was coming from, but would have liked to have seen some of the spark and fight in her that Ax mentions. As I previously stated, I took issue with the first sexual encounter with Ax and Anna and it was hard for me to move past. I will admit there were some sweet moments with Ax that I did enjoy, but honestly, I was just left wanting more. At the end of the day, this book just wasn’t for me.
Objective Lesson is my first book by this author and even though it was a miss for me, I’m still glad I took a chance on this author and checked her book out. If you do plan on checking out this book, it is important that I tell you to please heed the warning the author has placed with this book. This is definitely not a read for everyone.
