My Review

“My rage controlled me. I wanted to inflict as much pain as I could. Misery and blood fueled me. To cause it and to see it. I wanted to inhale his pain. I wanted to draw it into my soul and breathe through it. All I lived for right then was his torment. It would match my own raging storm.”

“Every part of me fell under his spell as he consumed me. There was no turning back from this.”

Boy oh boy do I love the biker romances that Nina Levine writes. Nina Levine gives us stories that only hit the ground running, but aren’t afraid to be alpha, intense and at times gritty. Yes, she pulls out all the stops and leaves us begging and pleading for more.

Told from dual points of view, Hyde’s Absolution follows the story of Hyde and Monroe. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I have been waiting on pins and needles for Hyde’s story. And his story was worth the wait. Hyde is anything but perfect. He’s done things he’s not proud of and made some big mistakes along the way. Things aren’t always what they seem and Hyde has always been taking care of what is his….Monroe is looking for love in all the wrong places and the moment she decides to give up, Hyde enters her life. He is bossy, possessive, the total bad boy package. He is the total opposite of what she normally goes for, but she can’t stay away. She’s drawn to him like a moth to a flame. It takes a special woman to hang with the men that Nina Levine creates and all I’m gonna is say is that Monroe definitely gives as good as she gets.

Hyde’s Absolution is a fast paced and exciting read. The story sucks you in from the very first page and has you burning quickly through the pages. From the characters to the story-line to the oh so sexy moments, this book has it all. With twists and turns and danger along the way, Hyde’s Absolution is not to be missed!

READ AN EXCERPT FROM HYDE’S ABSOLUTION

I tore my attention from Hyde and gave it back to Tatum when she said, “I’ll call you tomorrow.”

Hyde’s presence had pretty much wiped all coherent thought from my mind, so I simply nodded and murmured, “Okay.”

As she and Nitro walked away from us, Hyde moved closer. His scent almost hypnotised me, if that was even possible. Looking down at me, he said, “What are you drinking?” The husky tone of his voice was like the final nail in my coffin. He could lead me down the path to sin with that voice.

“A cosmo please.”

He turned to the waiting bartender and ordered drinks before shifting his gaze back to me. His body was so damn close it almost pressed against mine. His eyes dropped to my chest. “You weren’t made to be subtle, were you, sugar?”

“Can’t say that word’s in my vocabulary, no.” The way he was devouring my body told me I’d made the best decision when I bought the black dress I wore tonight. Knee length with a plunging neckline and accentuated with a belt around my waist, it clung to every curve I had. My girls were up and proudly out, just the way I liked them. I mean, if you had it, flaunt it, right? And I’d had the red in my hair touched up that afternoon. It hung in lazy vivid red curls to just below my breasts. I wasn’t sure which part of me he thought wasn’t subtle, but I guessed it had something to do with my dress by the way he seemed unable to draw his gaze from my body.

Finally he found his way back up to my face. The heat flashing in his eyes shot a round of lust through my veins. Good God, this man, though. I wondered if he had any idea of the storm he caused within me. “Don’t ever add it.” If what he said didn’t make my legs sway a little, the forceful, gravelly way he said it did.

The bartender placed our drinks on the counter, distracting us from each other. Hyde dropped some cash on the bar, took a mouthful of his whisky and looked back at me while I got down as much of my drink as I could in one mouthful. God knew, I needed it. I could stand my ground with any man, but Hyde had a way of catching me off guard.

“You calm down after that thing about owing me money this morning?” And there he went, flipping my feelings about him on their head.

I fixed him with a look that let him know I wasn’t impressed. “I didn’t have anything to calm down from.”

“You seemed all worked up about it.”

I threw some more of my cocktail down my throat. “I wasn’t.” But I was getting there now, that was for sure.

He drank some more whisky, keeping his eyes steady on mine. “Okay.”

Okay? Oh no he didn’t. He didn’t get to end a conversation with that bullshit. “Okay? Seriously, you’re going to end with that?”

“It seemed pointless to argue.”

I finished my drink and placed the empty glass down with some force. Sliding off my stool, I said, “We weren’t arguing. I was simply telling you like it was.”

“Yeah, I’ve picked that up about you.”

My eyes practically popped out of their sockets. “Picked up what about me?”

“That you like to tell men like it is.”

“I do not! You just have this way of pushing my buttons. I feel like it’s you, not me.”

His lips twitched. “Sugar, if I knew which buttons I was pushing, I’d push them some more. I never said I didn’t like the way you told me how it was.”

I snatched my bag off the bar. I needed a moment to get my thoughts under control. In the space of seconds I’d switched from wanting him to wanting to smack him to wanting him again. My mind needed a break from the whiplash. I took a step away from the bar and said, “I’ll have another cosmo.”

Without waiting for his response, I headed in the direction of the ladies room. I’d almost made it there when a hand slid around my waist and I was pushed up against the wall in the dark hallway. A hard body pushed against mine as the hand around my waist slid down to settle on my ass and warm breath whispered across my cheek. “My cock likes that attitude of yours. Surprised the fuck outta me, but I can’t deny I want more of it.”

The proof of his statement ground against me, sparking need all over me. Every inch of my skin blazed with desire. I gripped his shirt with both hands and found his eyes. “You and I weren’t made for each other, Hyde.”

“I’m not saying we were.”

My body went to war with my mind. It fought me kicking and screaming, desperate for what he was offering, but I didn’t want to surrender. “So what’s the point of starting something?”

He pushed his cock harder against me. “I came here against better judgement tonight. Nitro told me you’d be here and I came because I couldn’t, for the fucking life of me, get you out of my head. I want my hands on those curves of yours and my dick as far inside you as you can take it.”

Release Blitz with Review: One Taste of Angel (Iron Norsemen MC, #1) by Violetta Rand

ONE TASTE OF ANGEL by Violetta Rand

SMP Swerve

Publication Date: May 30, 2017

eBook ISBN: 9781250147813; Price: $3.99

“Riveting, gritty cast of characters! I was captivated by this intimate glimpse into the volatile MC world. Violetta Rand’s ability to portray the essence of true love is enjoyable. Great read!” -USA Today Bestselling Author D.L. Roan

Their love was the stuff of Shakespeare – two star-crossed lovers from rival MC’s, divided by their families’ bloody history, but fate has given Eagle and Serafina a second chance. Can the biker and the stripper find their redemption in Violetta Rand’s sexy standalone romance, One Taste of Angel?

Eagle
I’ve bled for my club. Taken four bullets. Buried eight brothers in six years. Screwed a hundred women. And only loved one. The one I lost. But there’s something about Serafina that reminds me of just exactly what was taken from me. Not just because I can’t resist a damsel in distress.

Serafina
To Eagle, I’m dead. Murdered and cremated, my ashes interred at the local cemetery. Part of a past I left long ago to save his life. Seeing him now, touching him again makes me weak, even if he doesn’t recognize the woman I’ve become. Since my escape from Holly Beach five years ago, I’ve lived by my own rules. And no matter how much I love Eagle, he’s not going to break those rules.

My Review

“Few reach a moment in life when they seriously consider whether this world is worth taking another breath for. That place  where pleasure and pain meet. Where you realize love and hate are the same thing. Where your life plays out in slow motion inside your head and you wonder: if you could change one thing, would it make a difference?”

Violetta Rand is a brand new author to me, and when I read the synopsis of One Taste of Angel, I just knew I had to check this book out. Told from dual points of view, One Taste of Angel follows the story of Eagle and Serafina. Eagle is a devoted member to his MC club. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his brothers. The last few years have found Eagle just going through the motions. The loss of his only love forever plaguing him….that is until he meets Serafina. The connection to Serafina is intense and doesn’t make any sense to him. He doesn’t understand the pull that feels, but finds it hard to stay away….Serafina had her reasons for escaping her past. As far as Eagle is considered Angel is dead and buried. Serafina went to great lengths to protect Eagle and never thought that she would see him again. However, fate had other plans in mind. Fate has made these two lovers cross paths once again. What will happen when Eagle learns the truth about Serafina??? You’ll just have to pick this book up and see for yourself.

Overall, I found this book to be a pretty enjoyable read. I’m always, always, always on the lookout for a good MC read and love checking out new authors. One Taste of Angel hit all the marks for a good MC read. It had action and some suspense. That being said, I do like for my MC books to be a bit more intense. For me, the darker, more dangerous and grittier, the better.

I thought this story had an intriguing plot with a god twist. I thought the characters were interesting and I enjoyed learning about Serafina and her motivations for her actions. I liked Eagle’s devotion not only to his woman, but to his club. Together, I thought that Serafina and Eagle had a great connection and I enjoyed seeing them together.

One Taste of Angel is a quick and easy read. I think this series has a lot of good potential and I’m definitely interested in seeing where it will go next.

Excerpt

Eagle

“You owe me,” I say as I close the distance between us. “I’ll take a kiss as payment.” Serafina looks lost, but she doesn’t resist when I reach her and cup her face between my hands, pulling her closer, lowering my mouth over hers.

I pause for a brief moment, looking her deep in the eyes, waiting for that spark to ignite into the inferno I know is already burning strong between us.

“D-don’t,” she half pleads.

But I do. Her lips part and my tongue strokes against hers. The fire is immediate and all-consuming. I tangle my fingers in the length of her hair, angling her head for better penetration, my tongue embedded so deep I can feel the back of her throat. The way she tastes only inspires me to want to kiss and lick that hot wet pussy I saw earlier. There’s nothing ordinary about her. I swallow her moans, running my hand up and down her arm.

Kissing her long and deep only reinforces the attraction—makes my cock throb and ache like I haven’t had a piece of ass in months.

“No.” She pushes me away, wide-eyed and frazzled.

“Serafina,” I chant her name like a holy vow. “You can’t deny what we’re feeling.”

“I can. And will.”

“Listen, baby . . .”

“Don’t call me that! There’s no way in hell you’ve earned that right.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I don’t want you to touch me again.”

Why? Chemistry like this doesn’t happen too often. Almost never. And I’m not prepared to let it slip through my fingers without a fight, or at least a plausible explanation. “Are you married?”

I never thought to ask before.

“No.”

“In a committed relationship?”

“You’re way off, Eagle.” She hugs her center, laying more bricks in that defensive wall.

“Enlighten me, then. I have all night.”

“I don’t.” She fakes a yawn. “Some of us work for a living.”

I smirk at her judgmental tone. “Do you think I sit around on my ass all day?”

“That prez patch says you don’t have to work hard to get what you want.”

“For a girl who claims not to know me, you’re pretty free with your opinions.”

“Yeah, well, I’ve been around enough to understand the inner workings of an MC. Not much difference between your rules and a regular company, now is there?”

I rub my chin, liking the hotness of her smartass mouth. The more she talks the more intrigued I get. “Maybe not, pretty girl, but I guarantee my ideas are a lot more innovative than something some asshole in a suit will think up in his corner office.”

She laughs. “I doubt it. We’re standing in a bedroom inside the home of one of the most notorious cartel lords in the United States. I’ll bet on the guy in the suit.”

“Come here.” I grip her shoulders and yank her close again. Our lips meet for a more desperate and demanding kiss. This time, her tongue wrestles mine for control. Bad. And for a girl who didn’t want anything to do with me ten minutes ago, she sure changed her mind.

I break the kiss and tip her chin upward. “I want to fuck you, Serafina.”

“No.” She gives me a defiant pout, but I can see through her denial. Her eyes are filled with hunger. “I need a drink.”

I need a goddamned bottle of tequila—and a cold shower. “What do you want?”

“Whiskey and coke.”

Unable to deny that beautiful face anything, I’ll get it for her. But first . . . I move quickly, gathering her clothes and shoes, and stuff them in the suitcase she opened earlier. Then I zip it up and carry it to the door.

“Hey!”

“What?” I ask.

“You can’t leave me here with nothing to wear.

About SHADE’S LADY:

New York Times bestselling author Joanna Wylde returns to the world of the Reapers Motorcycle Club…

Looking back, none of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t dropped my phone in the toilet. I mean, I could’ve walked away from him if I’d had it with me.

Or maybe not.

Maybe it was all over the first time he saw me, and he would’ve found another way. Probably—if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Shade always gets what he wants, and apparently he wanted me.

Stylized close detailed portrait of masculine handsome young man in sepia tones

EXCERPT:

“Did you get my text?” Sara asked, pushing through the office door. I’d just finished tying my apron around my waist, and was leaning toward the cracked mirror on the wall for one last makeup check before punching in.

“No,” I replied, frowning. “Dropped my cell in the toilet this morning. I called the phone people. They said I didn’t have any insurance, so I’m fucked. I put it on Future Me’s list of things to worry about.”

Sadly, Future Me’s list got longer every day. She was supposed to pay our credit card bill, figure out whether we should break up with our boyfriend, and find a better place to sleep than my sister’s couch. She also needed to lose ten pounds and magically fix the rusted-out Kia Sedona currently broken down in my sister’s yard.

Present Me would’ve felt guilty about dumping all this on the poor thing, but I only had three minutes left to punch in and start slinging drinks for drunken bikers, so it would just have to wait.

Yup. I’m organized like that.

Studying my reflection, I ran an eye down the length of my body. Tight tank with a hint of bra showing? Check. (Nothing like some boob action to bring in the tips. Not only that, Rebel had said he’d be here tonight, and he always liked seeing the girls.)

Lipstick was bright and shiny, no smudges on the teeth. More eye makeup than I’d usually wear, but ever since I’d started hanging out with Rebel’s biker friends, I’d kicked it up a notch. Made me look wild and sexy. Not gonna lie—I liked this new me. I liked her a lot. I guess if there was one good thing about my sister’s life falling apart—and me moving to Violetta to help with the kids—it was that it’d forced me to change my life, too.

My Review

“I’d only had a taste of what was inside, and I needed more. I wanted to know everything that was inside this man. His thoughts, feelings, hopes, regrets, flaws, strengths, weaknesses, talents, disappointments, successes…all of the things that made him who he was.”

“I couldn’t think straight. I couldn’t process my feelings. All I saw was him. All I felt was him. And all I knew, right then, was him.”

Sometimes, a book will speak for itself. Sometimes, a short review is all that is needed to get your point across….This. Book. This is exactly what I want, need and am looking for in an MC romance!

I’ve been following The Sydney Storm MC Series for a while now, and I gotta tell you, with each book, I am falling more in love. Devil’s story is no exception. Devil’s Vengeance is one of those books that just grabs you from the very beginning and leaves you no choice but to devour it. This story is incredibly well written. It is sexy. It is intriguing. It’s action packed, and I promise you, there is never a dull moment.

Devil’s Vengeance does not disappoint, so be prepared for one fun, wild and sexy ride. I for one, can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this series!

Here’s a taste of Devil & Hailee

I decided to be completely up-front with my thoughts. “Are you just after sex here? I mean, if you are, I’m on board with that, but I’d rather know going in what this is rather than thinking it could be more when that’s not what you’re thinking.”

He smiled harder and leant forward so he could kiss me. His lips on mine blazed a line of hunger along my skin. Every inch of me wanted more. And he didn’t disappoint.

Parting my lips, he deepened the kiss, his tongue searching for mine. He took my face in his hands, and his body slid across the lounge towards mine until we were touching.

I wanted to crawl into his lap and never let him end this kiss.

I wanted to rip his shirt off and put my hands all over his body.

God, I wanted to do so many dirty things to him—things I’d never done to another man, but had dreamt of.

“Darlin’,” he rasped, pulling his mouth from mine, which made me want to cry out my disappointment. “We need to stop this now or else I’m not gonna be able to stop. I’d happily fuck you on this lounge if it’s what you wanted, but I doubt it is.”

I took hold of his face. “I need your lips on mine for at least another five minutes, and if you can’t control yourself, that’s on you.” My words came out on a huff of bossy breathlessness, because that’s what a kiss from Devil did to me. I could only imagine what sleeping with him would do. Hell, he might cause me to stop breathing all together.

His eyes widened a fraction before he grinned. “Jesus, you’re something else, woman.”

And then he gave me what I wanted.

And I knew what his answer would be about whether this was just sex or not.

This was never going to just be about sex.

Review: Devil’s Honor (The Devil’s Keepers #1) by Megan Crane

devilshonor

Merritt Broussard grew up knowing she had two choices if she stayed in Lagrange: run with the outlaws or get left in their dust. So she got the hell out, leaving behind a bad-boy biker and scorching memories of their summer fling. Now Merritt’s back, with trouble on her tail, and the sergeant-at-arms of the Devil’s Keepers is the one person she can still trust. But Greeley isn’t the boy she remembers. He’s harder now, more dangerous—and even more alluring.

Joseph “Greeley” Shaw loves two things: his bike and his club. At eighteen, he escaped a rough life, found the Devil’s Keepers on the wrong side of a bad weekend, and never looked back. Greeley swore to live and die by their code: Devil’s Keepers first, Devil’s Keepers forever. No one comes between him and his brothers—except for the tantalizing woman who touched his soul. Greeley’s the kind of man who honors his commitments . . . and Merritt is one promise he’s determined to keep.

My Review

Overall, I thought Devil’s Honor was a good book. It was a quick, easy read and a great second chance romance. Merritt pulled me in right away and had me wanting to know more about her and Greeley’s story. Greeley and Merritt made for one interesting couple. They really were opposites, but they made up for their differences in some scorching hot chemistry. Their chemistry was undeniable and I loved how Merritt brought out the alpha in Greeley.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the plot was entertaining and I loved how sweet Greeley was with Merritt. However, I did have a couple of issues with this story. I had a few problems with the flow of the story. It wasn’t always on track. It felt like there certain moments where the story skipped ahead or a part was left out. And those moments left me feeling confused, and I would have to try to figure out what was missing. Also, Merritt did drive me a little nuts with her back and forth with Greeley. He honestly was a great guy, so unlike most of the bikers you read in other stories, and I just wanted to shake Merritt for the way she acted sometimes.

Even though I had some issues with this story, I have to say, the overall bones of it were good and despite the problems I had, I couldn’t stop reading. I had to know how things would turn out for our two main characters. Overall, I think this series has a ton of great potential. I think if the kinks are worked out, this will make for a really exciting biker series.
