Review: Finding Allie & Chasing Allie by Meli Raine

Posted on

Chase Halloway’s father is the president of Atlas, the drug dealing motorcycle gang that terrorizes most of our desert town.

My stepfather turns out to be a rival drug dealer, and I’m pretty sure he killed my mom two years ago.

I’m not supposed to fall in love with Chase. He’s not supposed to know I even exist.

But when he finds me, he can’t let go.

And when I find myself in his arms?

I hold tight.

I have to.

Because if I don’t, I might just die.

Read all three books in the Breaking Away series:
Finding Allie
Chasing Allie
Keeping Allie

My Review

Finding Allie is the first book in the Breaking Away serial series. This book was a super quick  read for me. I liked the idea behind the story and think that it has a lot of potential. That being said, I do feel that the story was a little rushed at times. I wish we could have gotten to know the characters a little better.

I already really don’t like Jeff. He just gives off a really bad vibe and is a total jerk to Allie. I like the whole romeo and Juliet vibe with Chase and Allie. They do share an insta-love connection. However, they do have really great chemistry and the tension between the two of them…..

Overall, I think that this story is off to a good start. I think it has a lot of potential. The groundwork has been laid and I’m definitely intrigued by where this story will go.

It turns out my stepfather has plans for me.

Plans that make dying look like a walk in the park.

He’s selling my virginity to a Mexican drug lord to get out of debt.

Chase just found out and is here to take me away to safety. To the ocean. To my dreams.

But while I’m gone, a murder takes place back home.

I receive a phone call. It’s the police.

I’m the prime suspect.

And if I go back, I may become the prime victim.

They say love conquers all, but can Chase save me from this?

My Review

Chasing Allie picks up right where Finding Allie left off. Allie is shocked to find out the sinister plans that Jeff had for her. After Allie finds out what Jeff had in store for her, Chase takes Allie to LA to spend some time with her sister. He’s trying to give her, her dreams. But, while she is away, something unexpected happens. One phone call will have the power to change everything and will send Allie running back home. Allie is in no way prepared for what happens when she returns home….

I thought Chasing Allie was a great follow up to Finding Allie. I’m still having some issues with the pacing of this series. However, I’m still really intrigued by the plot and have to know how everything will turn out.

Things definitely are heating up between Chase and Allie. I loved the twists and turns with this book. And the cliffhanger at the end….I’m still shocked by it. I’m really hoping that things aren’t headed in the direction that I think they are. My fingers are crossed.

Overall, Chasing Allie was an enjoyable read and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this story will come together in the end.
