No one can ever have Keaton Meyer.
Least of all me.
The brooding construction manager is a man of myth and legend, rarely seen in the wild. Once upon a time, he was the star quarterback, the smiling homecoming king, royalty in our small town. Until tragedy struck. And then he disappeared completely.
Now he’s resurfaced, and I can’t keep my eyes off him.
He’s an island surrounded by lava, bound by a desert and guarded by dragons. I don’t stand a sunshine’s chance in a hail storm.
Our siblings disagree and are out to prove it, nudging us into each other in the hopes we’ll fall. But with our town in tumult and the two of us firmly in the middle, nothing between us is easy. And when he’s faced with an impossible decision, I learn the truth of what I already knew.
No one can have Keaton Meyer.
And I have the broken heart to prove it.
MY REVIEW
“Everything abandoned deserves a new story.” “Otherwise, what’s the point to all this?”
On The Honey Side is a heartwarming, small-town romance that will leave readers with all the feels.
On The Honey Side follows the story of Keaton and Daisy. Once upon a time, Keaton was on top of the world, but when tragedy strikes his entire world gets turned upside down. Now, Keaton is just a shell of the man he once was and is just trying to keep his business afloat. The last thing he has time for is Daisy. But, when fate throws them together for a community project, an undeniable spark presents itself to them. Will Daisy be the spark to bring Keaton back to life and the man he once was? There’s only one way to find out….
Overall, I thought this book was a quick and easy read. The characters were easy to relate to and connect with. Daisy and Keaton were both no strangers to loss and heartbreak. And while Keaton’s past turned him into this broody and grump of a man, somehow, Daisy remained a ray of sunshine who held onto hope. I loved the slow burn of their story, seeing them both take chances and overcome their pasts.
Something that really stood out to me in this book was the author wasn’t afraid to go after the tough issues. Not only does this book deal with heartbreak and loss, but it also deals with the really heavy and hard issues surrounding homelessness and the way it affects a community.
There’s a lot to love and enjoy about On The Honey Side. On The Honey Side is smartly written and entertaining. The characters are wonderful and easy to connect with. I adored the slow-burning romance and drama that followed. I loved the small-town that Daisy and Keaton were a part of and how the town came together to help and support one of their own.
If you love Grumpy Sunshine, Small-Town, Second Chance Romances, you won’t want to miss On The Honey Side. I can’t wait to see what this author will have in store for us next.
