shatteredblueFor Noa and Callum, being together is dangerous, even deadly. From the start, sixteen-year-old Noa senses that the mysterious transfer student to her Monterey boarding school is different. Callum unnerves and intrigues her, and even as she struggles through family tragedy, she’s irresistibly drawn to him. Soon they are bound by his deepest secret: Callum is Fae, banished from another world after a loss hauntingly similar to her own.

But in Noa’s world, Callum needs a special human energy, Light, to survive; his body steals it through touch—or a kiss. And Callum’s not the only Fae on the hunt. When Callum is taken, Noa must decide: Will she sacrifice everything to save him? Even if it means learning their love may not be what she thought?

My Review

Shattered Blue follows the story of Noa and Callum. Upon the very first meeting, Noa senses that their is something different about Callum. Callum intrigues her. There’s just something about him that is pulling her to him; making her want to know more. Callum is hiding something; something big. That very thing will bind them together. Callum is a Fae. But not just any fae. Callum an only survive on human light. When Callum is taken, Noa will start asking questions. Will she give up everything just to save him? Only one way to find out…….

You know, I’m just going to keep this review short and sweet. One of the first things that pulled me into this story was the cover. From the moment I saw that cover, I knew I had to find out more. Now, I don’t read too many YA books anymore, which is a shame, but I couldn’t stop myself from reading this one. I’m so glad that I did. Shattered Blue is well written and told from multiple points of view. I loved the writing style; the poetry pulling me in. This book is a great example as to why I love and miss reading this genre. The story-line is really unique and refreshing.

Shattered Blue was a really great read. It had it all: romance, drama, action, excellent paranormal/fantasy aspects and some really great twists. I loved the twists! They were so good. Some of them, I didn’t even see coming. I will warn you that this book does end on a cliffhanger, and let me tell you, it definitely has me excited to see what will happen next. I think this series is off to a really great start. I am captivated and curious to see where this story will go. Lauren Bird Horowitz is a new author to me, and I for one can not wait to read more from this author in the future!

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*
