Secrets Legends Keep by Melissa Winters is now live!
I’m the secret that legends were created to keep.
My life has been a series of plot twists, most of which I saw coming.
Having visions since I was a child, not much can throw me off balance. Until my brother and I are whisked away to the sleepy town of Pandora.
From the moment I crossed the town line, everything changed. Ghostly encounters, cryptic dreams, and deep connections to two local boys have me questioning what to believe. With my heart and my head at odds, I’m racking up enemies when what I need is allies.
There’s something strange going on in this creepy town, and I’m at the center of the secrets.
There are plenty of local legends to be told, but the more I learn about my new home–and my connection to it–the more questions that arise. The campfire stories might actually be truth passed off as myth, and I’m the secret they were created to hide.
Except nothing stays hidden for long.

New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby returns to tales beyond the natural and normal with her brand-new, captivating paranormal romance series that is sure to capture your heart and make you believe in magic.
Returning to her beloved home of Salem after a trip away, Lucy Finch can’t shake the feeling of anxiety that suddenly plagues her. Nor can she shrug off her third eye’s urging that she has a mission she must undertake–a secret she must uncover.
As a green witch, Lucy has always felt strongest and the most at home in the forest, surrounded by nature. But when a disturbing dream wakes her and sends her fleeing into the woods, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. She expected her element. Perhaps a message from spirit. She didn’t expect to cross paths with a sexy-as-sin man, straight out of a movie scene.
Jonas Morley isn’t like the other residents of Hallows End. He knows the town’s secrets, as well as Salem’s, and it has been his honor and duty to protect them for as long as he can remember. But the gorgeous witch who graces the town’s hidden border shakes him and makes him second-guess his directive. She calls to him like no other. But can he save his home and those under his care and still make her his? Or will their union mean danger and destruction for not only them but also those who live within the town’s borders?
Curses don’t discriminate, and the curse of the blood moon is the most determined and dangerous of all.
Hallows End is the first book in the Curse of the Blood Moon Series.
Kristen Proby has published more than forty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion and Romancing Manhattan Series.
Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two cats.
In the dramatic conclusion to the Ravenwood Coven series by NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan, this sleeping magical paranormal town knows that war can be a beginning…and an ending.
Rowen Ravenwood is the final witch of her line—the only one standing in the way of Oriel, the dark necromancer who wants the core of the town’s magic for his own. With each passing battle and loss, Rowen is one step closer to losing it all if she doesn’t rely on the one man she refuses to love again. Only this time she might not have a choice when family secrets come to light.
Ash Christopher’s family curse hit him harder than anyone knows. He’s cool, relentless, and only feels what he needs to in order to survive. He’s gained everything in power and lost all else to his ambition—including Rowen. After all, a man cannot have a soul mate when he does not possess a soul.
The town of Ravenwood is dying and as the final battles come to pass, it will take the courage of a coven reborn, a mating bond broken, and a love worth fighting for in order to save all before it is lost.
Carrie Ann Ryan is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary, paranormal, and young adult romance. She started writing while in graduate school for her advanced degree in chemistry and hasn’t stopped since. Carrie Ann has written over seventy-five novels and novellas with more in the works. When she’s not losing herself in her emotional and action-packed worlds, she’s reading as much as she can while wrangling her clowder of cats who have more followers than she does.
No matter how far she runs, the forest of Edgewood always comes for Emeline Lark. The scent of damp earth curls into her nose when she sings and moss creeps across the stage. It’s as if the woods of her childhood, shrouded in folklore and tall tales, are trying to reclaim her. But Emeline has no patience for silly superstitions.
When her grandfather disappears, leaving only a mysterious orb in his wake, the stories Emeline has always scoffed at suddenly seem less foolish. She enters the forest she has spent years trying to escape, only to have Hawthorne Fell, a handsome and brooding tithe collector, try to dissuade her from searching.
Refusing to be deterred, Emeline finds herself drawn to the court of the fabled Wood King himself. She makes a deal—her voice for her grandfather’s freedom. Little does she know, she’s stumbled into the middle of a curse much bigger than herself, one that threatens the existence of this eerie world she’s trapped in, along with the devastating boy who feels so familiar.
With the help of Hawthorne—an enemy turned reluctant ally who she grows closer to each day—Emeline sets out to not only save her grandfather’s life, but to right past wrongs, and in the process, discover her true voice.
Haunting and romantic, Kristen Ciccarelli’s Edgewood is an exciting novel from a bold, unforgettable voice in fantasy.
Edgewood is a truly unique young adult, fantasy novel.
Edgewood is a well-written and intriguing story that spins quite the web of mystery. I enjoyed the mysterious woods and all of the secrets they held. I loved trying to figure out who you could trust or not. This book does dive into some pretty tough issues such as memory loss and I think the author did a really great job with the way she not only handled them, but the creative spin she put on them.
My only complaint about this book is that I wish the pacing had been a little more on point. There were some parts where the story seemed to drag a bit. And I do wish that the romance between Emeline and Hawthorne had been fleshed out a little more. Yes, their romance was definitely a slow-burning one, but they really left me wanting more.
Even though I did have a couple of issues with this book, I did find it to be an enjoyable read. I really liked all of the fantasy elements and the world this author created. I thought the author was really creative with the way the tough issues were handled.
This is my first book by this author and I would definitely be interested in checking out more from her in the future.

Excerpt
“Adele.” Rafe catches my elbows to steady me as I bounce off his immovable form.
I’m more flustered than a misstep calls for, but it’s only because my nerves were already ragged over asking Rafe for a job, and now that I’ve decided I don’t actually want the job, I feel somehow caught.
“Rafe,” I manage to say. Don’t be nervous. Imagine him naked.
Trouble is, I imagine Rafe naked far too much.
He’s still holding my elbows, standing far too close. Rafe’s not as Hollywood good-looking as his brother Lance, who recently knocked up my friend Charlie. His hair is darker. His eyes are green. Lance is charming in that laidback, lazy smile kind of way. Rafe is the opposite. No charm. Definitely not laidback. There’s a ruggedness and ferocity about him that makes being around him feel terribly dangerous.
Dangerous, intense, and… exciting.
He’s the kind of guy you’d want on your side, not against it. Last week, when my business partner turned up dead, Charlie got kidnapped, and I was picked up by the police for questioning, I learned exactly how powerful it is to have a guy like him in my court.
So I’m already beholden to Rafe.
Something I hate. Don’t trust a man …
“I—um—I was just leaving.”
“You were?” His brows go down, gaze sweeps over me. “It looks like you just got here.” His eyes snag on my high heeled boots. “You walk in the snow in those?”
“Yes?” Why did I make that sound like a question? Something about his surly black brows makes me uncertain. I clear my throat and try again. “Yes, of course.”
“You need to be more careful. Those boots aren’t good in the snow.” And there it is, the most annoying thing about Rafe. He orders everyone around. The fact that he’s always in fatigue pants and a gray or army green Henley doesn’t lessen his drill sergeant vibe. Neither does the way he stands and looks down on everyone, like a general inspecting his troops and finding us all wanting. I think it’s great he had a military career—when I first met him, I thanked him for his service—but he’s not the boss of me!
I’m tempted to declare that and stomp my boots like I’m four, but that won’t help him take me seriously. Or land me a job.
“Are you meeting someone?” Rafe asks.
“No. Um, yes. Ah—” I shake my head. I’m on the spot here, not sure whether to flee or beg. Neither idea appeals.
Of course, he doesn’t make it easy for me. He releases my elbows to put his hands on his hips, like I’m in trouble, and now I have to answer to him.
Screw this. I can’t work for him.
“Nothing. Nevermind. I have to go.” I try to move past him, but he moves to block my path.
“Hang on a second. Were you here to see me? Or did something happen?” He scans the restaurant with a scowl, as if to identify some mystery offender who was rude to me.
Shoot. Maybe I am supposed to ask him for a job. I mean, here he is, insisting I explain myself.
“Rafe, I—”
At the sound of his name, his gaze snaps back to mine, locking and honing in. When I nervously lick the lip gloss off my lips, his gaze dips to my mouth. A hungry expression comes over his face.
God, I’m hungry, too. And not for food.
Every time I’m near this guy, a slow thrum of awareness tunes up between my legs. His big body, hard and solid with muscle, his dark hair and eyes… I gaze up at him, and it’s all too easy to imagine what it would be like to be underneath him. He’d probably order me, as bossy and dominant in bed as he is out.
And wouldn’t that be delicious?
No, no, no. I absolutely do not want Rafe, naked and looming over me, telling me what to do. That would be terrible.
Gawd, my panties are soaked. Time to get this conversation back on track. I take a second to remember how much Rafe annoys me and raise my chin.
“Honestly?” I say. “I came to see if you, um, still needed help. You know, in the kitchen. I’m, ah, not going to be able to reopen The Chocolatier at the moment.”
Rafe goes still, his brows angled together in concern.
It’s way more of a reaction than I expected from him. I don’t know what I thought he’d do—blow me off or tell me to fill out an application. But instead, he grabs my hand and draws me further into the Grille. “Come here,” he says gruffly.

Each year, I try to create a reading challenge that’s not only fun and challenging but also realistic. This year, I set the bar pretty high, and couldn’t be happier with the results. I’ve read over 128 books for this challenge, 113 of those being books that have sat on my kindle for far too long. I’ve discovered a lot of new authors and exciting books in 2021 and can not wait to see what next years challenge will bring.
Here are the books that made my 2021 Reading Challenge a success:
Ariel After I lost my dad, my roommate, with his tighty-whitey, pizza eating, gaming habits, wasn’t worth staying in Seattle for. So when I’m offered a job at an upscale mansion in the middle of Bum-Fuck-Ohio, I take it. I mean, what do I have to lose? The answer? Everything. Not only do I discover that my exceptionally good-looking, albeit moody, landlord is a werewolf, (A-Freaking-Werewolf!) but get this… and it’s the real kicker, we’re fated mates! The lust I feel for him is off the charts, which is odd since I’m human and humans being fated to werewolves is basically unheard of. There’s also the fact that I keep passing out and having these crazy dreams that scare Ryker half to death. Then, I find out that it’s no coincidence that my boss hired me. It seems everyone knows more about me and the fact that I might not actually be human after all, than I do. As I learn more about what I am, I’m left with more questions than answers. I do know that if left untrained, I’m dangerous for both Ryker and his pack. I have to fix that and fast!
Somehow, with a speed and strength, I’d never possessed, I flipped him over and rode him. I could tell he was caught off guard by the way his body locked.
I paid no mind to it. It was about him and me, connected. I needed it, and I needed more.
I rode him.
I bit him.
I scratched my nails down his back.
I was wild, nearly feral.
He came again and again, and I didn’t let up.
“Ariel,” he called. It sounded far off. I needed to fuck him. “Ariel,” he grabbed my legs, trying to slow my movements. I batted his hand away. I had to have him.
More. I needed more.
I rocked back and forth fervently. I had no other thought than my need to make him orgasm again.
“Ariel,” he yelled again, and the strangest thing happened. He began to change. I lost him inside of me, and I fought to get him back, but he was strong and fast, then he was a wolf pinning me down and snarling at me.
I blinked in surprise, seeming to come to, unsure of what just happened.
I scrambled back on the bed, and even in his wolf form, I could see the scratches and smears of red along his coat.
“Oh, God. What have I done?”
