Married with a baby on the way I stupidly believed that things were perfect.
But then the good guy I fell in love with turned out to not be as good as I thought.
I was left alone to pick up the pieces of my life and provide for my daughter.
And then I met him.
Hayes.
The bad boy that just might not be so bad.
Three years after her husband walked out on her Arden James is struggling to make ends meet as a single mom. Despite it all, she knows she’s better off with her ex out of the picture, and so is her daughter.Josh Hayes—player, jokester, and very naughty boy—is the guitar player for the band Willow Creek. He’s used to living the fast life, but suddenly it doesn’t appeal to him anymore, and he has his sights set on the fiery Arden.
Despite their undeniable chemistry, Arden isn’t sure she wants to invite a man into her life that has never been in a committed relationship before. But Hayes is determined to prove to her that there’s more to him than meets the eye. He just needs Arden to take a chance.
My Review
“Admitting you were afraid was one of the most difficult things to own up to as a human being. We were programmed to always say that we were fine or good–that showing fear is a sign of weakness. But it’s not. It’s one of the bravest things you can do to surrender that fear from yourself and place it into the open palms of someone else.”
Another amazing read!! Once again, Micalea Smeltzer has knocked my socks off. I fell in love with this series ever since I opened the first book. And with each book, the series just keeps getting better and better. I keep falling deeper and deeper in love with the characters. Take A Chance was no exception. Ever since I was first introduced to Hayes’ character, I’ve been dying to know more about him. This is his story.
Take A Chance follows the story of Arden and Hayes. Arden’s life has been anything but easy. She thought she had the perfect life, but she found out very quickly that her life was anything but. She never expected to find herself divorced, pregnant and alone. Fast forward three years and Arden finally is starting to move forward. She has a beautiful little girl and her life is good. Then she meets Hayes and he completely turns her world upside down. Hayes has the reputation of being a player and the type who just lives it up. However, looks can be pretty deceiving. From the moment Hayes laid eyes on Arden and her daughter, Mia, he has been captivated. He is addicted to them and wants to be a part of their life. Suddenly the bad boy is not wanting to be the bad boy anymore. Will Arden give Hayes the chance to prove that he is worth the risk? “Take a chance on me, Arden. I know it might not seem like it, but I’m a sure bet.” What will happen when a ghost from Arden’s past won’t go away? Will Arden and Hayes get the HEA they both deserve?
I absolutely loved Take A Chance. I fell in love with Hayes and Arden almost immediately. I completely understood the reservations that Arden had about getting involved with Hayes. Not only did he have a bad reputation that she had to worry about, but she worried about how dating would affect her daughter. Arden is an unbelievably strong woman. I admired how she was able to do everything on her own and how she always put her daughter first. Hayes was the first guy to really peak her interest since her ex left the picture. I was intrigued by Hayes and Arden and couldn’t wait to see how things would play out.
Hayes was totally swoon worthy. With lines like these: “Those lips were made to kiss mine” or “That night with you…It was fucking amazing, but one night will never be enough with you. Hell, I’m not even sure the rest of my life would be enough time to get my fill of you.” I knew I was done for. I was completely addicted to Hayes. He was nothing like I thought he would be.Yes, he was young and acted silly. But he cared deeply for the people in his life and loved them fiercely.
I loved the chemistry and connection that Hayes and Arden shared. It was instant, but felt very real. Being together was effortless. You couldn’t help yourself from rooting for the two of them. And I absolutely loved the way that Hayes was with Mia. That right there was enough for me. I mean, he always treated Mia like she was his and loved her with every fiber of his being. It was truly special.
Take A Chance was such a fantastic read. I am so sad that this series is now over, but Micalea Smeltzer gave me the best possible ending. I loved everything about this book. I was hooked from the first page and had the hardest time putting it down. It gave me everything that I was looking for and more. And I have to tell you, I love, love, loved the epilogue. It was amazing and brought tears to my eyes. Fans of this series, you will not be disappointed with Hayes and Arden!
