My Review

“Time is a fickle whore. Whenever you want it to pass slowly, it speeds up, and whenever you’re full of nervous impatience, it crawls like a sloth on sedatives”

Broken Juliet picks up right where Bad Romeo left off. After the way Bad Romeo ended, I’ve been dying to get my hands on this book. I had to know how things would play out for Ethan and Cassie. The road to happily ever after for Ethan and Cassie was not an easy one. They both had so much to overcome and trust had to be rebuilt. Ethan claims that he’s a changed man, but we’ve heard that before. Ethan has hurt Cassie so many times in the past. Will Ethan finally have the chance to make up for all his past mistakes and prove that he is the man Cassie deserves or has too much damage been done?

Broken Juliet took me on an incredible angst filled journey. My emotions were all over the place. One minute I loved Ethan and the next, I wanted to knock some sense into him. I hated the way things went down with Cassie and Ethan, but as I read on, I realized there was no other way. The story had to happen this way. These events had to take place or the two of them would continue to be toxic for one another.

Ethan has come so far since we first met him in Bad Romeo. He’s finally seen the light and gotten the help that he needed to battle the demons that were destroying him. I was so impressed with the growth of his character and his determination to not mess things up with Cassie this time around. He was so patient and understanding with Cassie. He understood just how much damage he had done to her, how badly he hurt and broke her, and that a simple I’m sorry wouldn’t fix things. It was time to step up and fight.

“What I want from you isn’t easy. It’s messy and complicated, and it’s filled with so much fucking passion, I don’t have a clue how to cope with it all. But I find a way, because I love you. And love is hard, but it’s worth it. You’re worth it. And I hope one day you’ll realize I’m worth it, too”

Cassie…now she is the one who is broken and un-trusting. She’s heard this song and dance from Ethan before and just doesn’t know if she has the strength to try again. Mending a broken heart and forgiving the one who broke it, is no easy task. But, the more time she spends with Ethan, the more that she sees he’s made changes. He’s not the same Ethan that she knew before. And I loved that Ethan gave her his journals as a way to prove to her that he’s changed and is going to be more open. It really helped to see what was going on through his head all those years ago. Why he was the way that he was.

Overall, I really liked Broken Juliet. It was a great second chance romance. I loved watching Ethan fight for Cassie as he should have done all along. I did find myself frustrated at times, when the book would flash to the past. I hated Ethan’s behavior and the way that he treated Cassie. That being said, the two of them did have some great push and pull. You can not deny the passion the two of them had for one another. Other than that, this book was great. I loved the angst/drama, and romance. I loved seeing Ethan finally fighting for Cassie. And I was really pleased with the way everything came together in the end.
