Dan might be the enemy of my enemy, but I’m not sure that makes him my friend. He’s definitely not my ‘step brother’, no matter what everyone at school says. Honestly, I don’t know what he’s supposed to be to me. Or what he’s becoming…

Fact: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

In the yearbook, I’ll be Sophia Ramos: Valedictorian. Years of honor roll certificates, AP classes, and lugging around an obnoxiously large cello case are about to finally pay off. If everything goes according to plan, I’ll escape these decaying suburbs for a top university across the country.

The problem? A few years ago, my mom met someone just as broke, just as drunk, and just as impulsive as she is. Approximately five seconds into their relationship, they decided it would be an excellent idea for him—and his son, Dan—to move in with us. (Spoiler alert: it wasn’t).

Now I share a house with none other than Daniel Cole. Even though Dan dropped out two years ago, he’s still the tattooed, bad boy, heartthrob, legend of St. Anthony’s Academy. He and I aren’t supposed to have anything in common.

Living together means war. First, Dan and I were at war with each other. Now, our rivalry is giving way to an unlikely alliance—two opposing sides teaming up against a common enemy: our respective parents.

Which is to say, we’ve been hanging out.

Question: What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object

Here’s the thing: My brain is a complex organ. One hundred billion neurons, each with an average of seven thousand synaptic connections to other neurons. My brain is my ticket out of here.

My heart, by contrast, is a pump. It moves blood around.

I know Dan is off-limits. I know I shouldn’t do something I’ll regret. And I know how much is at stake (my family, my future).

So why can’t I stop thinking about him? Those inscrutable jade eyes. The smile that can say a thousand different things at once. That tattoo curving across his abs…

Even though I know better, I feel that pounding in my chest. And it’s getting harder to ignore.

But if I follow my heart, I can never go back.

Answer: There is no such thing as an immovable object.

My Review

4 hot and sexy stars!

Defiant Attraction is the debut novel for author V.K. Torston and wow was it one sexy read!! I knew from the second that I read the synopsis of this story that this book was right up my alley and I had to read it.

Defiant Attraction took me by surprise in the best possible way. I thought it was written well and I was pulled into the story immediately. The story starts off with a bit of a taboo premise, but I promise you, there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. Daniel and Sophia’s story felt very real and honest. I found myself intrigued by them and wanted to understand them more. Their home life was anything but perfect, leaving them with only each other to depend on.  I loved getting to know them and see their relationship build over the course of time.

Defiant Attraction is a great debut novel. I think this author has a ton of great potential and I look forward to seeing what she is going to bring us in the future.

Nadia Jayne’s world is full of villains.

Kasper thinks he hates her.
Donovan thinks he loves her.
Logan thinks he owns her.

Sweet Jayne is a complicated girl…

She needs Kasper.
She hides from Donovan.
She has a plan for Logan.

But maybe complicated Jayne isn’t so sweet after all…
In fact, she might just be the biggest villain of them all.

WARNING: Story contains dark taboo themes and violence both sexual and physical which could trigger emotional distress in reader.

My Review

“Beneath the lopsided grins and smartass exterior, I’m a hell storm of fury and rage.”

“His eyes fixate on my blood like a shark in shallow waters. He wants to devour and own me. To decimate my soul.”

“What I see is understanding. What I see is determination. And when Donovan Jayne sets his mind to something, he throws every ounce of himself into it until he get what he wants. What he wants is me…and right now, he simply can’t have me.”

Taboo. Crazy. Twisted. Dark. Thrilling. Mind Blowing. Those are just a few words to describe the madness that is Sweet Jayne. Sweet Jayne will take you on a ride unlike any other you’ve experienced from Author K. Webster before. K. Webster’s mind is a dark and twisted place, and I freakin’ loved it.

Sweet Jayne is unlike any story I’ve read before. Told from multiple points of view, you are taken on a thrilling and shocking journey. This is not in anyway your typical love story. You may think you know and understand what is going on, but I am here to tell you, you are wrong. You will not have a clear understanding of this twisted story until you get to the last few chapters.

Sweet Jayne is one of those books that will push your limits and have you on the edge of your seat. You will be captivated and intrigued. You will be on pins and needles; on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next. Your mind will be racing, wondering just how much a person can take. You will be shocked. You will be horrified. Your heart will break for everything Nadia endures. Despite all that, you will have hope. You will admire the strength that Nadia has and the lengths she will go to set things right. And right or wrong, in the end you will be rooting for Nadia and her HEA.

Once again, K. Webster has shown that she knows her dark. She will ask you to once again, step out of your comfort zone and take a chance on the twisted world that she has created. She will take you on one incredible, crazy journey with lots of delicious twists and turns. If you are a fan of dark and twisted reads, then Sweet Jayne is not to be missed.

Review: Dear Professor by Blaire Drake

DearprofessorDear Professor,

Does it bother you that you’re ten years older than me?
Have you ever thought it’s wrong that you watched me fuck another guy on camera for months?
What do you want from me, really? All I wanted was my letter of recommendation, but now I’m stuck, aren’t I? Stuck under your thumb… And your body.
From cam girl to personal whore, and all by the age of twenty-one. You’ve got me good, haven’t you?
But guess what? I can play too. Grab the polish, because I’ve found your skeleton, and it’s time to dust.
I’ll see you in class.
Oh and, Sir? I’m not wearing any panties.

Love, Darcy

P.s. you’re an asshole.

My Review

“Words were the most powerful things in the world. It didn’t matter if they were spoken or written, whispered or screamed…They could maim, devour, and destroy as easily as they could lift, heal and soothe. Even if the only place the words exists is in your head.”

Hot. Scorching. Taboo. Intriguing. Dirty. Captivating. Sexy. Those are just some of the words to describe Dear Professor. I loved this book. I hated this book. I. Loved. This. Book.

For me, taboo books are either a hit or a miss. Dear Professor was a huge hit. I am shocked and surprised that this is Blaire Drake’s debut novel. The story is so clever and well written. It consumes you from the very first page. You find yourself unable to look away from your kindle and addicted to every word that is on each page. You can’t read it fast enough.

Now, this is definitely a taboo read. It is sinfully sexy, dirty and naughty all at the same time. This is not something that I would normally read, but I am really happy that I decided to take a chance! I was so intrigued by the characters. Darcy had a very unusual job for a college student. But, a girls got to do what a girls got to do. She has her reasons. Who am I to judge? However, never in her wildest dreams did she imagine what happened with her and Professor Keaton would transpire…… The relationship between Professor Keaton and Darcy was soooo wrong, but at the same time, soooo right.

Professor Keaton!!!!! How you confused me! I loved you. I hated you. I hated you and then loved you some more. You are cocky, possessive and arrogant. Sometimes you make me want to throw my kindle, but I couldn’t stop reading. You intrigue me. You captivate me and make me want to know more. “He had a handbook to my body. He was dangerous. He was relentless and filthy, and I loved it. I loved what he could do to me, no matter how wrong or forbidden it was.”

I don’t know what else to say about this book, other than I loved it. It took me by total surprise. I honestly did not expect that I love it so much. I did not expect to be so consumed with the characters and fall in love with their story. Prof. Keaton and Darcy’s relationship was not always hearts and flowers. But, somehow they made it work for them.

When it’s all said and done, I am left with this little note to the author:

Dear Blaire Drake,

How is this your debut novel?? It reads like you’ve been writing for years. I loved him. I hated him. I loooooved their story. Well done!! I can’t wait to read more from you!!

Xoxo, One Happy Reader!

Dear Professor is the debut novel for author Blaire Drake and I have to say that she is definitely someone to keep an eye out for. I am excited to see what she will come up with next!
