“I’m sorry,” I whisper, and her eyes meet mine.
“W-What? Why?” Her eyes flash with more confusion.
I reach out and caress her face with my gloved hand, wishing I could feel her skin beneath mine. “I’m sorry for hurting you, Superstar.”
Her eyes glance back down at her lap. “It was a long time ago, Ty.”
I push under her chin, and she gazes at me again. “I’m sorry. I was young and stupid. I thought I was protecting you.”
She pulls back. “Protecting me from what?”
I sigh. “From me, from having to have a boyfriend that was never here, that was always busy.”
“But all I wanted was you,” she states bitterly.
“And I wasn’t here for you. No one could’ve had me. I was too… too busy and wrapped up in my Olympic dreams.”
She turns and zips up her bag. “I would have waited,” she murmurs as she stands up to leave.
I jump up and block her path. “I know you would have. But I couldn’t ask you to do that. You have dreams, too.”
“But you never gave me the choice to decide for myself,” she says and jams a finger at my chest. “You decided for both of us.”
“I did. And I can’t take it back, but if I could, I would,” I reply as I grab her head in my hands and kiss her.
She doesn’t move as I press my lips to hers. They warm under mine, and after a second she sighs, allowing my tongue free reign of her mouth. I taste her for the first time in way too long. And she tastes just as sweet as I remembered.
She drops her guitar case in the snow, letting her arms wrap around my middle as my hands hold her face. I don’t feel anything except her, not the snow, the cold, the wind, nothing but Brittany. Devil You Know is an incredible and emotional story. The characters are raw and very easy to relate to. Their story will suck you in and leave you begging and I mean begging for more. It is a story that you won’t be able to put down and that will have you turning the pages faster than you could possibly imagine. Devil You Know is not an easy story to read. It toys with your emotions and at times may have you wanting to throw your kindle. This story will frustrate you. It will make you want to pull out your hair. It will give you hope and make you not want to give up. You will fall in love and your heart will ache. And just when you think that everything is on track, some great twists will be thrown your way. The suspense and mystery will have you glued to the pages, just as much as the romance will.
Devil You Know is an amazing story and one beautiful second chance romance.

Before I could scan the crowd for Damian, a hand wrapped around mine…one with cuts and blood on the knuckles. It was Damian and he looked pissed.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
My heart hurt seeing his face—a cut near his left eye, blood smeared down his cheek and a blooming bruise on his jaw. “I heard you and Cam talking. I was curious.”
He had been walking me toward the exit but those words stopped him. His feet sort of rooted themselves to the concrete floor as his head turned in my direction. “So you walked here alone?”
“It wasn’t far.”
That wasn’t the right answer apparently because he hissed between his teeth. It wasn’t an actual word, just a release of frustration.
He started toward the exit again. “What are you fighting when you are out there?”
We had just reached the stairs when he pulled me behind them and pressed me up against the wall. “Come again?”
“When you fight, what are you fighting?”
“Not who am I fighting?”
“No, your opponent isn’t what you’re fighting.”
He leaned in and lowered his head to look me right in the eyes. “How do you know that?”
I gently wiped the blood from his face. “I know you.”
He had the strangest reaction to that. He closed his eyes, like he was in pain, and lowered his forehead to my shoulder. “This can’t happen.”
Those words caused a chill to move right down my spine. He was wrong. It totally could and should happen. “Why not?”
He lifted his head and for the first time I saw so much more in those eyes. “Cam is a good friend and your parents are like my own.”
“And?”His lips brushed along my jaw and I had to lock my knees to keep from sliding down the wall. “And if I did to you all the things I wanted, I couldn’t sit at their table without them knowing that I claimed every part of you.”
