“I’m sorry,” I whisper, and her eyes meet mine.

“W-What? Why?” Her eyes flash with more confusion.

I reach out and caress her face with my gloved hand, wishing I could feel her skin beneath mine. “I’m sorry for hurting you, Superstar.”

Her eyes glance back down at her lap. “It was a long time ago, Ty.”

I push under her chin, and she gazes at me again. “I’m sorry. I was young and stupid. I thought I was protecting you.”

She pulls back. “Protecting me from what?”

I sigh. “From me, from having to have a boyfriend that was never here, that was always busy.”

“But all I wanted was you,” she states bitterly.

“And I wasn’t here for you. No one could’ve had me. I was too… too busy and wrapped up in my Olympic dreams.”

She turns and zips up her bag. “I would have waited,” she murmurs as she stands up to leave.

I jump up and block her path. “I know you would have. But I couldn’t ask you to do that. You have dreams, too.”

“But you never gave me the choice to decide for myself,” she says and jams a finger at my chest. “You decided for both of us.”

“I did. And I can’t take it back, but if I could, I would,” I reply as I grab her head in my hands and kiss her.

She doesn’t move as I press my lips to hers. They warm under mine, and after a second she sighs, allowing my tongue free reign of her mouth. I taste her for the first time in way too long. And she tastes just as sweet as I remembered.

She drops her guitar case in the snow, letting her arms wrap around my middle as my hands hold her face. I don’t feel anything except her, not the snow, the cold, the wind, nothing but Brittany. Our warm breaths mingle in the cool air, surrounding us in our own personal cloud. I groan as I deepen our kiss.

She pulls back suddenly. Her hand flying to her lips.

“I’m sorry. I… shit, I’m sorry.” She has a look of anguish on her face.

“Brit, I kissed you. There’s nothing to be sorry about. When are we going to stop dancing around this thing,” I motion between us, “that’s clearly still between us?”

She shakes her head. “No. There’s nothing between us. That’s over. It ended when you walked out of my life.” I watch as a single tear falls on her cheek, and it might as well be a knife plunging into my heart.

I reach out to pull her back to me, but she jumps away.

“No. We can’t do this. I can’t do this. Not again.”

And it hits me. She’s protecting herself. I hurt her so badly that she reacts to me like a hand touching a hot pan. I can’t blame her.

“Brit, I won’t hurt you. I never met to hurt you.”

“I know,” she answers as another tear falls on her cheek. “But you did.”

Release Blitz: Of Smoke & Cinnamon by Ace Gray

Title: Of Smoke & Cinnamon: A Christmas Story
Author: Ace Gray
Genre: Holiday Second Chance Romance
Release Date: December 13, 2017
Blurb
Camilla Collins hasn’t gone home in thirteen years. As much as she loves her family, their tiny hometown in the folds of the Colorado mountains holds too many memories. Memories of a life barely lived and a love barely realized. No matter how she thrives, AJ Jenkins is the man she compares all others too. He just so happens to be the one that broke her heart. Seeing him, seeing the life she might have had with him, has been a very convincing reason to celebrate the holidays in the Pacific Northwest, happy in the rain instead of the snow.

AJ Jenkins isn’t exactly bitter and frigid. It’s the below freezing temperatures, the knee deep snow, and the death of his chronically ill father dragging him down. That is until Cam Collins finally comes home for Christmas. After thirteen years, he’d almost given up on seeing her. And was incredibly happy about it. But thirteen is unlucky for a reason, and apparently that reason is still a klutzy, gorgeous, living memory determined to poke holes in his barely hanging on heart with death defying stilettos.

Barely behind me, Cam is bent over the pool table, angling at a difficult shot. Those painted on jeans accentuate curves I don’t remember her having. Curves I want to paw. Then there’s the mysterious tattoo. It cuts across cream colored skin and I want to lick it—lick her—despite everything between us.

To make matters worse, she makes the near-impossible shot. The Cam Collins I know is three things: uncoordinated, callous and the world’s worst pool player. I’d had to help her with every shot she ever took, my body wrapped completely around hers, my hands guiding her every movement. Almost every time she’d look over at me rather than the ball.

But she’s well on her way to running the table.

How long has she had these skills? Did she develop them because I wasn’t there? My heart twists at the thought.

Or, worse, could she always do this, her mind so accustomed to angles and trajectories, but wanted my hands on her?

Fuck.

I don’t know why I’ve thought of the possibility, but it’s the most dangerous one yet because it sucks me back to that warm summer night when we’d played the best game of pool of my life. I’d helped her with each shot. She’d wiggled her ass up against my crotch too many times to count. Just when I thought I was going to have to take her home then jerk off, she’d grabbed my hand and pulled me out to the 13th green behind Molly Merithew’s house.

Crickets chirped, punctuating her labored breathing. There was the slightest warm breeze tickling my skin. I never asked if it was the breeze or me that peaked her nipples when she shimmied out of her white eyelet linen top. I couldn’t really ask anything as Cam stripped naked behind the willow trees and let me have her for the first time, bathed in moonlight. When we snuggled under the stars she wore nothing but my flannel.

I never got that shirt back. I’d sworn off anything remotely related to vanilla, too—that’s what Cam tasted like.

Shit.

That’s what the hidden taste in the bourbon was.

Fuck pool. Fuck this delicious bourbon. And fuck Cam Collins.

It’s impossible not to smile that he remembered my drink of choice. It’s also hopeless to pretend that the boyish grin he’s flipping me doesn’t melt away some of the ice around my heart.

Still, I don’t want to play nice.

“I already had coffee today. But thank you,” I say politely.

“No offense, but you are kind of irritable this morning. Maybe you could use another shot of caffeine.”

“You think I’m irritable now? Keep it up.”

“You never were a morning person,” he laughs. “Some things never change.”

“And some things do,” I point out, giving him a look. “Seriously, why are you here?”

“I have business with Violet. Remember?”

“That’s bullshit anyway, but she’s not here. You’ll have to come back later.”

“Is that an invitation?” he laughs.

“Did it sound like one?” My arms cross over my chest and I’m aware it makes my boobs look bigger. As his eyes drop and catch the top of my cleavage, his gaze burns a trail on the ascent back up to my eyes.

Satisfaction paints a smug look on my face and desire burns in the apex of my thighs. As discreetly as possible, I clench my legs together to quell a bit of the ache that’s beginning to throb under his observation.

When our gazes meet, his is crackling. He lifts a single brow. “I damn sure hope that’s an offer to come. If it’s not, we have a problem on our hands.”

“No, you have a problem on your hands,” I say, shrugging. “It has nothing to do with me.”

“It could.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense

Damian Tate. One look into his sad green eyes and I was hooked. I wanted to be the one to make him laugh, to make him smile. I hadn’t expected him to be the one to make me blush, to make me hot…to make me fall in love. He was my first kiss, my first love, my first everything. I wanted forever with him, but life got in the way.

He enlisted, I went to college, and for years we were never in the same place long enough to pick up where we left off.

Thirteen years after he left, tragedy brings him home. The stoic boy I fell in love with grew into a quiet, dangerous and wildly sexy man. He still tugs on all the right strings for me, but he seems determined to keep me at arm’s-length.

However, when trouble comes knocking at my door, he is the one to put himself between that trouble and me.

Spending time with him might drive me insane, or it might be our second chance at first love.

My Review

“Three words and I was a goner. I didn’t understand what I felt for this boy nor did I appreciate the uniqueness of it at the time, but I did know that little smile and those three words was all it took for Damian Tate to claim a piece of me that I would never get back.”

“He curled his back, lowered his head and kissed me. Not a chaste kiss, a hot demanding and hungry kiss–a kiss that curled my toes and weakened my knees. He kissed me like he would die if he didn’t, and I kissed him back because I had missed this.”

I am a total and I mean total sucker for a good second chance romance and this one takes the cake. This second chance romance transcends half of a lifetime and will play with your emotions.

When we first meet our main characters, Damian and Thea’s story starts off just like any other love story. They meet as young kids and develop an amazing friendship that turns into something more. Over time, their connection and love turns into something bigger than the both of them know how to handle. So, they will separate, go their own way, grow and hope to one day find their way back to each other. Over the years, our two beloved characters will grow and change. They will have chance meetings that will leave them begging for more. They will share moments that will frustrate you as the reader and moments that will have you praying that they will finally get their timing right….

Devil You Know is an incredible and emotional story. The characters are raw and very easy to relate to. Their story will suck you in and leave you begging and I mean begging for more. It is a story that you won’t be able to put down and that will have you turning the pages faster than you could possibly imagine. Devil You Know is not an easy story to read. It toys with your emotions and at times may have you wanting to throw your kindle. This story will frustrate you. It will make you want to pull out your hair. It will give you hope and make you not want to give up. You will fall in love and your heart will ache. And just when you think that everything is on track, some great twists will be thrown your way. The suspense and mystery will have you glued to the pages, just as much as the romance will.

Devil You Know is an amazing story and one beautiful second chance romance.

Excerpt

Before I could scan the crowd for Damian, a hand wrapped around mine…one with cuts and blood on the knuckles. It was Damian and he looked pissed.

“What the fuck are you doing here?”

My heart hurt seeing his face—a cut near his left eye, blood smeared down his cheek and a blooming bruise on his jaw. “I heard you and Cam talking. I was curious.”

He had been walking me toward the exit but those words stopped him. His feet sort of rooted themselves to the concrete floor as his head turned in my direction. “So you walked here alone?”

“It wasn’t far.”

That wasn’t the right answer apparently because he hissed between his teeth. It wasn’t an actual word, just a release of frustration.

He started toward the exit again. “What are you fighting when you are out there?”

We had just reached the stairs when he pulled me behind them and pressed me up against the wall. “Come again?”

“When you fight, what are you fighting?”

“Not who am I fighting?”

“No, your opponent isn’t what you’re fighting.”

He leaned in and lowered his head to look me right in the eyes. “How do you know that?”

I gently wiped the blood from his face. “I know you.”

He had the strangest reaction to that. He closed his eyes, like he was in pain, and lowered his forehead to my shoulder. “This can’t happen.”

Those words caused a chill to move right down my spine. He was wrong. It totally could and should happen. “Why not?”

He lifted his head and for the first time I saw so much more in those eyes. “Cam is a good friend and your parents are like my own.”

“And?”His lips brushed along my jaw and I had to lock my knees to keep from sliding down the wall. “And if I did to you all the things I wanted, I couldn’t sit at their table without them knowing that I claimed every part of you.”

Cover Model: Anthony Gomez
Cover Photography: Duc Nguyen

pwmackdaddybookcover5x8_bw_high-fixedFrom New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.

They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?

So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.

At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.

Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy.

I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.

They didn’t know about our past.

He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.

As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.

I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.

Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.

And soon I might be breaking all the rules.

Author’s note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

Title: Rumor Has It
Series: Friendship, Texas #2
Author: Magan Vernon
Release Date: Oct 25, 2016
Add to Goodreads

A Brand new Standalone, Second Chance Rom Com from Friendship, Texas featuring Country Music’s Biggest Superstar, Eddie Justice and Friendship’s resident author, Brook Carrington.

“Rhonda, pst, Rhonda is that the Carrington girl? The writer who was at the bakery with that country singer Eddie Justice? I thought she was in Austin?” one of the old church ladies not-so-subtly asked the woman next to her.

I rolled my eyes and Clay looked at me with a mischievous grin. Slowly I stretched my arms over my head and leaned toward my brother, not so quietly whispering, “I can’t wait to get out of church so I can go home and get some Eddie Justice man meat.”

The old ladies gasped and started whispering. They didn’t need to know that Eddie and I had only ever been next door neighbors and friends, well until we spent the night breaking a tree branch, if that counted for anything.

Magan Vernon has been living off of reader tears since she wrote her first short story in 2004. She now spends her time killing off fictional characters, pretending to plot while she really just watches Netflix, and she tries to do this all while her two young children run amok around her Texas ranch.

PROLOGUE

STONE

Head swimming, hands clammy, and with cold sweat trickling down my spine, I stand on the stage with the lights beaming down on me, hotter than the fucking sun. With the music humming through my body, I let the deafening roar of the crowd wash over me like a balm to my toxic soul. I would kill for a fucking line of blow right now.

This should be more important than any high. Then again, so should she. I shake my head to rid myself of that shit and the world of hurt that goes along with it. There’s no time to waste on things I can’t change, not on this stage anyway.

I smile at them, raise my arms, and motion with my hands for them to give me more, and they do. I feed off their energy; the stadium is alive with it and I need it to breathe life back into me. Not that I fucking deserve it.

Reaching for my mic stand, I bring it to my mouth and give them my “rock star” smirk. The one that says I’m the guy your mama warned you about and the one that your daddy has dreaded since the day you were born.

“Hello New York!” I yell into the mic, making them go even crazier. “Are you guys ready to rock?” Behind the drums, I give Lawson the cue to start the countdown and the show begins despite the fact that my heart isn’t really in it tonight. She isn’t waiting in the wings for me.

Two hours later we head off stage toward the dressing rooms and the after parties that I love a little too much. Wiping the sweat from my face, I almost miss her standing there with her back against the wall, that sad damn look on her face that I put there. Willow was here. I was crazy to think she wouldn’t be. With new- found confidence I watch as she gives the guys a wave as they greet her. Knowing that something isn’t right with us, the boys are smart enough not to linger.

“Willow.” Her name leaves my mouth on a strained breath. I was sure that I would have to hunt her down and beg for forgiveness after the shit I said to her. The accusations I hurled all while tears streamed down her face. Shit I can barely remember because I was so fucking high. Words that I thought I’d said in a dream, only when I woke up to find her gone, I knew it wasn’t a dream. More like a goddamn nightmare, and I was living it.

“I need to get my things out of the hotel room, and I don’t have my key. My name isn’t on the reservation so they won’t give me one at the front desk. I wasn’t sure if you were planning to leave right after the show or not, so…” She trails off. “I won’t take long, and I’ll leave it at the front desk for you, for when you get back.”

All of this is said in a cold, detached ramble that I’m not used to hearing from my Wills. Her face looks drawn, her eyes red-rimmed. I broke her and that kills me. We’ve been together for years, and in one night, I threw it all away. And for what? I can’t even remember right now. No, that’s not true. It wasn’t just one night. I’ve been throwing her away every damn night for months. Chasing that high, letting the paranoia seep in where it didn’t belong.

“I just need to grab my stuff and then I have a flight to catch.” She’s so…empty. Void and despondent. It stabs at my insides. Bile churning with the knowledge that I snuffed out her light.

“You—you’re leaving Wills?” The pain I feel at that rocks me.

Shaking her head at me, I see the tears glistening in her hollowed out eyes.

“Don’t. Don’t call me that! The only reason that I’m even still here is because my purse is in the room with my phone and ID in it. Otherwise, I would be home by now.” There’s an underlying thread of hysteria and damning heard in her words.

It hits me then just how big of a bastard I really am. I hurt her, forced her to walk out on me last night, all because of my insecurities, my need to occupy that place of numbness, my heaven and her hell. And now she tells me that she had no phone, no money, no clothes. Nothing.

“Where did you stay last night, Wills? Where did you go without your purse?”

She flinches mildly and then shuts down again. “Don’t worry about it, Stone. I’m not your concern anymore. You don’t have to take care of my ‘needy ass.’ I can take care of myself.”

I can see the anger flaring, red creeping across her beautiful face, but I can also see her lip quivering as she recounts the hurtful things I said to her last night. Words meant to hurt but that were in no way true. I was a dick, I screwed up, and I know in my heart she won’t give me a chance to make it right. I pushed her too far for too long, and now she’s done.

“Willow, I didn’t mean that. I didn’t mean any of it. I was drunk and stupid. Please, baby, let’s talk about it. As soon as the tour is over we can go away just you and me.” There’s desperation in my voice, fear lacing my words. I can’t lose her. I’m not me without her.

“I’m finished talking. I am sick of being accused of things I would never do. I am over walking on eggshells with you, afraid to upset you. Worrying that I’ll end up alone in our room again, in another strange city that I followed you to, wondering where you are and who you’re with and what you’re doing. Hoping this high won’t be the one that you take too far. I’m done with all of it. I love you and I have stood by you, putting up with all of it because I wanted to support you. To be there for you because I know that you are under a lot of pressure, but now I’m done. I’m going home. I see now that I never should have left.”

This is all said with such finality that I feel panic bubbling up inside me. I open my mouth to beg her to stay and talk when a trashy-looking blonde walks up and slides her hand up my arm.

“Stone, I thought you were going to call me,” she whines as she strokes her fingers back and forth over the tattoo on my arm, the willow tree that I got as a surprise for my girl long ago. I snatch my arm away from the blonde and look up at Wills, my eyes wild.

“Baby, it’s not what you think. I swear to you, Wills, it isn’t.” I have no clue if that’s the truth.

“Save it, Stone. I heard you loud and clear last night. You’re not made for one woman. I was stupid to think that you were. Can you please just give me the key so I don’t miss my flight?” Her voice is laced with the anger and pain that she’s feeling, that we’re both feeling.

“Will—”

“Please!” she cries out, stomping her foot. I’ve never seen her this way. So emotional yet detached at the same time.

The blonde still standing there, watching it all.

I shake my head, imploring her with my eyes, since my words don’t mean anything right now, begging for her to not do this. Taking in a painful breath, I pull out my wallet and take out the room key.

Handing it over to her, I try one more time.

“Willow, please don’t leave. Not like this,” I plead with her.

She takes the key card from me with a trembling hand, careful not to touch me when she does.

“I’ll be out of the house by the time you get back into town. I’ll leave my keys over at the studio with Addy,” she says, looking right through me.

She flicks a glance over at the girl who still hasn’t moved and then back to me.

“You got what you wanted, Stone. You’re single and free to do whatever and whoever you want without having to worry about sneaking around. Don’t keep her waiting — she looks like a sure thing.”

With that little parting remark, I watch the woman of my dreams walk away and out of my life. There isn’t enough music in the world that could make the pain of losing her go away. This isn’t where our song ends; I won’t let it. Only I’m not sure I have much of a choice. And just like that, my heart stops beating in rhythm.

And he tries, over and over.

Clean and ready to make things right, he’s faced with the fact that Willow’s moved on. She’s not the same girl he cast aside. Willow’s a woman sure about her purpose in life. Sure about who she’s meant to love.

Stay.

It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.

That was seventeen years ago.

I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.

Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.

This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken . . .

My Review

“There’s not a soul that doesn’t have a skeleton of some sort, but the longer you keep it locked up, the longer it’s going to hold you down.”

“Life is a gamble. You played your cards and lost. Doesn’t make you a loser. Means you need to find a new dealer.”

“When you came back into back into town, it was like my whole world settled. You were always supposed to be a part of my life, but I just wasn’t ready for you then.”

“I inhale her scent and confirm everything that I already knew. This is who I love. This is where I belong. I’ll fight to the death for her. We’ll fight because we’re both hot-tempered. Things will go wrong, and there’s a lot of shit to work through, but Presley is my life.”

Corinne Michales, Corinne Michales, I just don’t know how you do it. I mean, I knew when I first heard about this book that it was going to be amazing, but I didn’t understand just how beautiful this book truly was, until I started reading it.

Say You’ll Stay pulled me in from the very beginning. It captivated me. I was just one chapter in when the rug was pulled out from under me. I was shocked. My heart was broken. My eyes could not believe the words that I was reading. And the tears….the tears would not stop flowing. I thought to myself this is ONLY chapter one. How can this be happening? Where do we go from here? Well, I’ll tell you where….Brace yourself. You are about to go on one heartbreaking, yet beautiful journey. As you continue on with Presley’s story, it will feel as though you are right there along with her; going on this crazy journey, this crazy ride that we call life. You will experience her emotions as if they are your own. You will be there right along with her as she attempts to move on with her life and pick up the broken pieces that were left behind.

I have to tell you that Presley’s story is not an easy one. It deals with some intense subject matter and it will have your heart pulled in many directions. But, you can’t help but go along for the ride and admire the strength that Presley possesses. Say You’ll Stay is not just a second chance romance. No, it is so much more. It is a story of loss and grief. It is a story of friendship and strength. This is a story about finding yourself and letting go. But most of all, this is a story about love. It’s a story of finding that second chance and not letting it go. It’s a story about never giving up. It is a story that will consume your heart and that will always stay with you.

Simply put, Say You’ll Stay is brilliant. It is well written and beautiful. It is heartbreaking and full of hope. It is one of those stories that will have you locking yourself in your room with a box of tissues and read in one sitting. It’s one of those books that is going to pull every emotion possible out of you, and you won’t care. You won’t care one single bit that you are an emotional wreck. You won’t care that it has left you speechless. You won’t care because you are so in love with the characters and so invested in the story, that you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Corinne Michales, you have not only blown me away with this amazing read, but you have really hit it out of the park with this one. If you are a fan of second chance romances, then I highly and I mean highly recommend you get your hands on this one and read it as soon as possible…..

My Review

I’m just going to keep this review short and sweet. This is another hit or miss read and for me, sadly, it was not a hit. For me, it was just ok. When I first heard about this book, I was so excited. It sounded really good and I couldn’t wait to dive in. I think it started off really well and I was intrigued by the story.

However, things went downhill pretty quickly for me. I had a very hard time connecting with Kelley. I didn’t find him likable at all. I sympathized and understood his situation, but his behavior towards Lenora really put me off. Don’t get me wrong, he did have some moments that I liked, but the majority of the time, I couldn’t stand him, and that sucks because he is a main character. I will say that my opinion of Kelley did improve slightly in the second part of the book. His behavior towards Lenora still put me off, but I will say this, he did show up when it counted. He did redeem himself in my eyes, in the end.

So, overall, I thought this book was just ok. Like I said, this is one of those books that you’re either going to love or you’re going to hate. I think this story had a lot of potential and that’s why I’m rounding it up to 3 stars. I do think that it written well and that the plot was intriguing. I liked that this book was sort of YA/NA crossover. This story did have some good moments and did deal with some intense subject matter. I did like Lenora, even though she frustrated me at times. Kelley wasn’t a horrible character, he just left me wanting more……..

Review: This One Moment (Pushing Limits #1) by Stina Lindenblatt

thisonemoment

Fame, fortune, and stadiums full of screaming fans are right around the corner for the rock band at the heart of Stina Lindenblatt’s steamy, intense Pushing Limits series. But it’s an epic love affair that steals the show in this opening act.

When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.

Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?

With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.

My Review

I have been a fan of Stina Lindenblatt for quite a while, so when I heard that she had something new in the works, I could not wait to get my hands on it. And then to find out she was writing a second chance romance with rockstars….Well, I just had to check it out. And I have to tell you, I’m really glad I did.

This One Moment is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Hailey and Nolan. Hailey and Nolan were BFF’s for as long as they could remember. So, it was no surprise when their feelings for one another turned in to more. However, the two of them were too afraid to admit their true feelings for one another for fear of rejection and ruining their friendship. So, unfortunately for Hailey and Nolan, they never got their chance to tell each other how they felt. One night had the power to change everything. Tragedy struck Nolan and that tragedy drove him away from home. It would be another 5 years before Nolan and Hailey were reunited…..Hailey was devastated when Nolan walked out her life. He was her best friend, but it was more than that. He was her everything. So, when Hailey wakes up in the hospital after a terrifying assault, she is surprised to find Nolan there. She’s unsure how to feel after all this time. Part of her wants to be angry, but the other part is still in love with him. Only time will tell if the past can be forgiven…..

Overall, I really enjoyed This One Moment. I am a sucker for a good second chance/ friends to lovers romance.  And nothing makes my heart swoon more than a musician. I was really intrigued by Hailey and Nolan. I wanted to know more about Nolan’s past and his reasoning for leaving Hailey behind. I thought the two of them had really good chemistry and I enjoyed watching the two of them try to navigate their way through their feelings.

This book does have a bit of mystery and suspense to it with a few surprises thrown in along the way. It was really interesting watching how everything played out and connected together. I think the Pushing Limits series is off to a really good start and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series will take us next.
