Review: Fan The Flames (Search and Rescue #2) by Katie Ruggle

fantheflames

In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder…

As a Motorcycle Club member and firefighter, Ian Walsh is used to riding the line between the good guys and the bad. He may owe the Club his life, but his heart rests with his fire station brothers…and with the girl he’s loved since they were kids, Rory Sorenson. Ian would do anything for Rory. He’d die for her. Kill for her. Defend her to his last breath-and he may just have to.

Every con in the Rockies knows Rory is the go-to girl for less-than-legal firearms, and for the past few years, she’s managed to keep the peace between dangerous factions by remaining strictly neutral. But when she defends herself against a brutal attack, Rory finds herself catapulted into the center of a Motorcycle Club war-with only Ian standing between her and a threat greater than either of them could have imagined.

My Review

Fan The Flames is the second book in the Search and Rescue series and follows the story of Rory and Ian. Ian is not only an MC member, but also a firefighter. He owes his life to the MC, but his heart lies with being a firefighter. And of course, there is Rory. Ian has been in love with Rory since they were kids. There is nothing that Ian wouldn’t do for her. And those lengths may just have to be tested….Rory is the last person you’d expect to be running a gun shop, least of dealing illegal firearms. But, don’t let her shyness or awkwardness fool you. This is life she lives. No matter how hard she’s tried, she’s managed to make some enemies of her own. And when she gets attacked, she finds herself in the last place she’d expect: right in the middle of an MC war….

Overall, I really enjoyed Fan The Flames. I loved the characters and the story-line. The suspense once again pulling me in and keeping me on my toes. As with the first book, this story is more suspense driven, than romance driven. But, I have to say, that I really, really enjoyed the slow building relationship between Ian and Rory. The tension between the two of them was intense. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them.

Fan The Flames was an exciting read from start to finish. I loved the action and excitement. There was danger and mystery. There was romance and some sexy good times. Overall, a really enjoyable story. And even though it wraps everything up, you are given a taste of what is to come in the next book and I for one can not wait to see where this series is going to go next!

Review: Sugar Daddy (Sugar Bowl #1) by Sawyer Bennett

sugardaddy

Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.

The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck always gets what he wants, in business and in bed. And yet, for a man who’s done every dirty thing imaginable, there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever.

Note: Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush and Sugar Free!

My Review

“Whatever the connection…for whatever reason that I’ve given her something that others haven’t, I have a deep gut instinct that it’s something that almost defies reason or logic. I almost get the sense it’s mystical in nature and I’m intrigued beyond measure. And so for the first time in my life, I’m doing something unlike anything Beck North has ever done before. I’m exploring something deeper with a woman.”

“I want to crawl inside of you, Sela, and feel every inch of you against me. I don’t want any barriers and I don’t want any fucking walls between us. Just you and me, touching…you melding into me, me into you. I want to know what that feels like with you.”

What an exciting start to this new series by author Sawyer Bennett. Sawyer Bennett is one of those authors that is an automatic one click for me. So, when I heard about this new series, I could not wait to get my hands on it. And let me tell you, Sugar Daddy does not disappoint. Sugar Daddy is refreshing and so different from what we normally get with this author. It’s smart, well-written with dark tones. The story-line is intriguing and deals with some tough issues. This story will hook you and captivate you. It will have you on the edge of your seat. You will wonder how will all play out. You will wonder if there is a chance for a happy ending.

Sugar Daddy has all the elements I needed for a good read. It’s smart. It’s sexy. It’s intriguing. It’s got romance and dark elements. It has some shocking moments and a fantastic cliffhanger. OMG!! That cliffhanger!! All I can say is when is the next book coming out?? I desperately need to know what’s going to happen next. Fans of Sawyer Bennett, you’re going to want to check this one out!

My Review

“Quickly. I wanted quickly more than I wanted air to breathe. I need to see Charlotte. Get to her. Hold her. Touch her. Protect her. Make love to her. It has yet to happen. And it’s all I’ve been able to think about.”

What a thrilling and exciting follow up to Set The Pace! Turn It Up picks up right where the last book left off and boy does it take you on one crazy ride. There’s danger. Action. Suspense. Romance. Sexy Good Times. And lots of delicious twists and turns.

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I have been dying and I mean dying to get my hands on this book. When we last left Jasper and Charlotte, we were given one crazy cliffhanger. And I have been just dying to see how it would all turn out. And I gotta tell you, for me, it was worth the wait.

From the moment I picked up Turn It Up, I was hooked. I couldn’t read through the pages quick enough. I had to know what was going to happen next. I had to know if Jasper and Charlotte were going to get their HEA that they deserved. And I gotta tell you, there story does not disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and the twists had me holding my breath. I loved Jasper and Charlotte. They are just impossible to not love. They are so easy to connect with and to understand. The connection these two have is absolutely amazing.  There love is so strong. There was nothing that these two could not get through, as long as they were together. It was such a joy to watch their story play out. It made me laugh. It made me swoon. And at times, I was left with a ridiculous smile on my face. And I gotta tell you, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Turn It Up gave me everything I could have wanted and more. I loved the twists. I loved getting all my questions answered. I enjoyed trying to figure everything out. But, most of all, I really enjoyed falling in love with Charlotte and Jasper.

Excerpt

Jasper Storm

What kind of person willingly drives a thirty-six-foot racing machine at breakneck speed through ten-foot waves?

The kind that isn’t put off by the possibility of smashing his nose against the steering wheel if he has to come to an abrupt stop when racing around the track—that’s who.

Today though, Lake St. Clair tops out with uninhibiting two-foot waves at the most, and my speed is tempered by the amount of passengers on board.

Classic Beatles is playing from the speakers on deck. Drew is leaning back in the cushions of the wraparound benches behind me with a beer in his hand. Jake and Shannon are sitting up in the sun loungers on the bow, both also with brews in hand.

Sitting at the helm, Charlotte is standing next to me in a simple black bikini that shows so much skin it is driving me crazy, her mounds of blond curls blowing in the wind making my fingers itch to run through them, and her sunglasses preventing me from seeing her blue eyes. I wrap my arm around her and guide her to stand in front of me. “You take the wheel.”

“I haven’t driven a boat in years.”

Standing, I pull her even closer. My board shorts feeling tighter by the second. “It’s like riding a bike.”

Looking over her shoulder at me, she gives me a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’ll give it a try,” she says.

Just that slight touch of her lips ignites a fire that starts to flame through my veins. When she takes the wheel, my body is ablaze. Unable to keep my hands off her, I compromise my need to touch her by covering my hands over hers. The cast prohibiting me from making the full connection I’m craving. I hate that she still bears the mark of her attack. I shove that thought away.

It’s a beautiful day, sunny as fuck and not a cloud in sight. The wind has picked up a little the further out we go, and when the softness of her hair brushes against my neck, it sends a shiver racing down my spine.

Taking a seat in the captain’s chair, I pull her onto my lap. The slight curves of her body fit me perfectly. Unable to compromise any longer, discreetly, my hands roam her body. Sliding down her thighs, up her arms, tucking under the small fabric at her hips. I can’t help myself.

Ten minutes or so goes by as we pass over the water like it’s a sheet of glass. I kiss her—her neck, her throat, her jaw. Take a little nip at her shoulder and then soothe it with my tongue.

Concentrating on driving, I’m surprised when she unexpectedly tips her head back so we can kiss.

The instant douse of arousal I feel is unlike that from the small flirtatious moves I’ve been making. This is full-out sexuality. Our lips meet, softly, gingerly. She’s sitting on my thigh, and her ass is against my cock. She shifts a little and I groan softly against the wet slide of her tongue, and all the muscles in my body knot in sweet tension. The fire in my veins bursts into flames from the slight friction, and all I want is more. The pull and push of the connection we share seems to be growing stronger every time we’re together.

Unlatching her lips from mine, she turns back and focuses on the open water.

She feels it too.

The tightening in my cock, the rapid beat of my pulse, and the taste of her left on my tongue puts me into a state of overdrive. I hold onto her fingers, squeeze them, press my naked chest to her bare back, and try to temper my need for her.

Taking what I can, I then inhale a deep breath. Unable to calm the storm raging inside me, I know I have to take action. This isn’t a storm of conflict, this is one of pure male need. “You have to stand up,” I murmur into her ear.

Again, she tips her head back. “Why?”

“You know why.”

The little vixen shifts a little more and grinds a little harder against my cock.

“Behave,” I growl and quickly stand up, bringing her with me, and then I ease up on the throttle and put the cabin cruiser in neutral.

“What’s going on? Jake asks.

I switch the engine off. “Taking a quick dip,” I tell him as I narrow my eyes at Charlotte.

She shrugs all innocent like.

“Remind me to spank you later,” I whisper in her ear.

Surprisingly, I see a thrill in her eyes.

Waggling my brows at her, my little problem is only growing, so I quickly hop up to the side of the boat and dive into the lake. The water is fucking freezing out this far and just what I need. For now anyway.

Splash. Splash.

My Review

“Some people might say we were fools rushing into this. I’d tell them to shove their opinions up their asses. I didn’t know what I was missing until she came into my life, and then I soon discovered I could never left her go.”

What a fantastic read. Moth is my first book by author Jennifer Foor and it will not be my last. I am sitting here kicking myself for not checking out her books sooner.

Moth follows the story of Timothy aka MOTH and Windy Lewis. Moth’s life is turned upside down when his stepbrother is killed in a drug deal gone wrong. In an effort to seek the truth and bring his brother’s killer to justice, Moth must go undercover. Pretending to be a new college student, Moth hopes to find the answers he seeks and infiltrate those close to his stepbrother. His main focus; a woman named Windy Lewis. Moth believes that Windy is the key to what he seeks. Moth comes up with a plan to seduce the mysterious Windy to get answers. Only he never planned on falling for the woman in question. The closer he gets to Windy, the more he learns and the truth he discovers might just be more than he bargained for….

I really enjoyed Moth. I found the story to be well written and suspenseful. The story pulled me in from the very first page. It had me asking a lot of questions and I enjoyed following along with Moth while he was searching for the truth. I loved the chemistry between Moth and “Windy”. I couldn’t wait to see how things would play out. Would Moth fall for the girl? Was Windy who she claimed to be?? Can their story possibly end with a happy ending? Don’t worry, all these questions and more will be answered!

As I previously stated Moth is my first book by this author and I am definitely impressed. This story had all the right elements for a good, suspenseful read. There was danger around every corner. Secrets and Lies. Lots of sexual tension. And of course, no suspense novel would be complete without lots of good twists and turns. Overall, a fantastic read. I would definitely recommend checking this one out!

EXCERPT:

Right now I don’t give a shit who this chick is. I’m not treating her like a criminal, a victim, or a possible lead. Right now she’s just a beautiful woman I’m dying to fuck. With each stroke of her tongue I’m being hypnotized. She’s wrapping me around her little finger, and if I’m not careful I might get lost in this. It’s too good. She’s too perfect. Her kisses match mine like we’re old lovers. Her hands caress my arms as if she’s done this a thousand times. The more I try to back away the harder it becomes to even consider it. I’m a fiend. She’s my drug. I want to be addicted, because a single kiss has never felt this good.

One kiss. That’s all it takes for this chick to bring me to my knees. As much as I know I need to run out of there and clear my head, I remain. I don’t care about the backlash I’ll get from the guys. I don’t care about the danger, or her real identity. I’m living a lie because I know it’s the only way I can be close to her. My head is in my ass, and as long as it stays there I can continue carrying on this charade.

Review: Relent (Sydney Storm MC #1) by Nina Levine

Posted on

relent

Evie Bishop grew up loving Kick Hanson. He loved her, too. They were inseparable. Best friends who looked out for each other. Until the day scandal hit their families and ripped everything apart, changing the course of all their lives.

Kick follows a dangerous path that leads him to the Storm MC where he spends his days buried deep in a violent and lawless world that is slowly consuming his soul. Evie works hard to escape the hopelessness that threatens to swallow her after her family is ripped apart. She builds a stable life for herself, however it’s devoid of the one thing she has always longed for – Kick.

The love these two have for each other never wavers but sometimes in life, love isn’t enough. Even in the times they find each other again, they can never make it work. Kick fights against bringing Evie into his world and Evie refuses a life with Kick if he won’t fully commit to her. However, when circumstance throws them together again, Kick knows he must finally make her his. The trouble is, Evie’s done. She loves him but she believes their chance to be together has long passed.

When Kick finally stakes his claim, will Evie relent and give their love another go, or has Kick left it too long to go after the woman who has owned his heart forever?

Relent is the first book in the Sydney Storm MC series. This is a spin off series to the Storm MC series. Readers do not have to read the Storm MC series to read this one.

My Review

“I see you, Evie. I’ve always seen you.”

“I wasn’t known for slow, but for Evie I would do anything. And she was wrong. We’d always be those kids who loved each other. Underneath all the shit that was me today, I still loved her.”

“Make it count. You two deserve happiness.”

What a fantastic start to the Sydney Storm MC series! This book had it all. From danger to romance, to drama and heartbreak. This book had it all.

From the moment I picked up this book, I was sucked into Evie and Kick’s story. Evie and Kick have been in love with one another for as long as they could remember. But, for one reason or another, they just couldn’t make things work. It takes the death of a life long friend to bring these ex’s back together. And when Kick lays eyes on Evie again, all bets are off. Nothing and no one is going to stand in the way of him claiming the woman he loves forever…..

Relent is not just an fantastic MC read, but it’s also a terrific second chance romance. When Evie and Kick are together, the two of them just light up the pages. Their connection has stayed strong throughout the years and is completely undeniable. You can’t help but find yourself rooting for these two characters. Kick totally knocked my socks off. Not only is he this hot biker, but he is also loyal. Dominate. Possessive. He is 100% alpha male. And Evie is exactly the right fit for him. And Evie…I loved how strong her characters was. She didn’t let Kick get away with anything and wasn’t afraid to stand her ground. And when she loved…when she loved, she loved with everything that she was. These two together, just explosive.

I really enjoyed Relent. The story was well written and entertaining. It made me laugh. It frustrated me. It made me swoon and fall in love. And it definitely kept me on my toes. I loved every second of it and can not wait for more!

Review: Hold Your Breath (Search and Rescue #1) by Katie Ruggle

holdyourbreath

In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder…

As the captain of Field County’s ice rescue dive team, Callum Cook is driven to perfection. But when he meets new diver Louise “Lou” Sparks, all that hard-won order is obliterated in an instant. Lou is a hurricane. A walking disaster. And with her, he’s never felt more alive…even if keeping her safe may just kill him.

Lou’s new to the Rockies, intent on escaping her controlling ex, and she’s determined to make it on her own terms…no matter how tempting Callum may be. But when a routine training exercise unearths a body, Lou and Callum find themselves thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a killer who will stop at nothing to silence Lou-and prove that not even her new Search and Rescue family can keep her safe forever.

My Review

Hold Your Breath is the first book in an exciting new series by Author Katie Ruggle. Hold Your Breath follows the story of Callum and Louise. Both of them are members of an ice rescue team. When Callum meets Louise, things quickly spiral out of control. Louise is a hot mess; a walking disaster. And all that chaos is exactly what Callum needs. It makes him feel needed and alive. So, when things in Louise’s life take a crazy turn, Callum is right there, ready to do whatever it takes to keep her safe….

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It took me a little while to really get into the story, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. I thought the story line was intriguing. I loved the game of cat and mouse. There was a lot of mystery and suspense, making it a lot of fun, trying to figure out what was going on.

Callum and Louise were great together. I thought they had some good chemistry. Their relationship definitely had a slow build to it, but I think that it worked really well in this aspect. You really got to know them and see their relationship grow. However, I will say that even though this story was centered around Callum and Louise, their romance was not the main focal point of the story. So, if you’re looking for a more romance centered story, this is not it. The suspense and mystery are the main factors of the story. And as someone who reads a lot of romance, this was actually a nice change of pace for me.

Hold Your Breath was a quick read for me. It had lots of action, and suspense with a little bit of romance sprinkled in along the way. I think this series is off to a really good start, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this series will go next.

Review: This One Moment (Pushing Limits #1) by Stina Lindenblatt

Posted on

thisonemoment

Fame, fortune, and stadiums full of screaming fans are right around the corner for the rock band at the heart of Stina Lindenblatt’s steamy, intense Pushing Limits series. But it’s an epic love affair that steals the show in this opening act.

When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.

Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?

With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.

My Review

I have been a fan of Stina Lindenblatt for quite a while, so when I heard that she had something new in the works, I could not wait to get my hands on it. And then to find out she was writing a second chance romance with rockstars….Well, I just had to check it out. And I have to tell you, I’m really glad I did.

This One Moment is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Hailey and Nolan. Hailey and Nolan were BFF’s for as long as they could remember. So, it was no surprise when their feelings for one another turned in to more. However, the two of them were too afraid to admit their true feelings for one another for fear of rejection and ruining their friendship. So, unfortunately for Hailey and Nolan, they never got their chance to tell each other how they felt. One night had the power to change everything. Tragedy struck Nolan and that tragedy drove him away from home. It would be another 5 years before Nolan and Hailey were reunited…..Hailey was devastated when Nolan walked out her life. He was her best friend, but it was more than that. He was her everything. So, when Hailey wakes up in the hospital after a terrifying assault, she is surprised to find Nolan there. She’s unsure how to feel after all this time. Part of her wants to be angry, but the other part is still in love with him. Only time will tell if the past can be forgiven…..

Overall, I really enjoyed This One Moment. I am a sucker for a good second chance/ friends to lovers romance.  And nothing makes my heart swoon more than a musician. I was really intrigued by Hailey and Nolan. I wanted to know more about Nolan’s past and his reasoning for leaving Hailey behind. I thought the two of them had really good chemistry and I enjoyed watching the two of them try to navigate their way through their feelings.

This book does have a bit of mystery and suspense to it with a few surprises thrown in along the way. It was really interesting watching how everything played out and connected together. I think the Pushing Limits series is off to a really good start and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series will take us next.

Set the pace FOR WEB

Every city needs a hero, but Detroit’s white knight just might be a villain.

A rough childhood branded Jasper Storm trouble. A bad boy. Not worth a damn. His love of cars was the only thing that could battle his delinquency. With the need for speed in his blood, he overcame his wayward ways. Mostly. All grown up, the broken city of Detroit hails him their shining star. And the man behind a new cutting-edge automobile is ready to turn this bankrupt town around.

Everything he does in life is fast. He talks fast, f*cks fast, and drives fast. But when one reckless turn brings him face-to-face with the childhood he has tried very hard to forget, he finds himself on the edge of wondering if he shouldn’t slow down.

Charlotte Lane was the tomboy who lived next door. She was his best friend. He was her protector. Then tragedy struck and she disappeared, forever—or so he thought.

Jasper has many reasons to hate Charlotte and keep his distance, but she’s infiltrating his every thought and he can’t stay away. Back in town with an agenda of her own, she should push him aside. Make him turn around. Walk away herself. Yet she can’t.

With the past lurking between them, they proceed with caution. That is until one sex-filled night leads to murder. When Detroit’s biggest ally suddenly becomes suspect number one, will Charlotte—the girl Jasper once kept safe—be the one to save him?

My Review

“Truth and lies. Past, present, and future. I’d laid it all out under the sun and the sky, and it turned out just the way I knew it would. There never was any other way, though. That….I’d known all along.”

Set The Pace is an exciting and thrilling new novel by author Kim Karr. This book will have you on the edge of your seat and will leave you breathless.

Set The Pace is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Charlotte and Jasper. Once upon a time Charlotte and Jasper were best friends. They did everything together…That is until one day, tragedy strikes and the two of them are separated. Both of their lives were forever changed. Many years later, the two of them are reunited. Jasper is not at all happy to see Charlotte. In fact, he hates her just as much as everyone else in the town does. However, things are not as they seem. As much as Jasper wants to avoid Charlotte, that is not possible. He is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. And when Charlotte reveals something to Jasper, everything he thought he knew will come into question. As if that wasn’t enough to deal with, there’s also a murder that needs to be solved and all the fingers are pointing in the wrong direction. Will these two ex-friends be able to move past their past and move on to something more? Will Charlotte be able to uncover the truth, she so desperately seeks? Will Charlotte and Jasper be able to solve the murder before it’s too late??

Set The Pace pulled me in from the very first page. From the moment I read that prologue, I knew this was going to be a great story. What may seem to start out as your normal ex-friends/enemies to lovers story, quickly changes it’s direction. Yes, it still is that type of romance, but now you’ve got an interesting twist thrown in and I gotta say, I wasn’t expecting the direction that this story took. And let me tell you, that direction really kept me on my toes. I didn’t know who to trust or who was telling the truth. There was sex, lies, and danger around every corner. And just when you think you’ve got a handle on what’s going on, BOOM, you get thrown another twist. And that twist at the very end, took my breath away. I can not wait to see what will happen next.

Charlotte Lane

Buzz. Buzz.

Startled, I jump and quickly place the frame back in its place.

Buzz. Buzz.

It’s the call button from the lobby. I’m not sure what to do. I should probably ask Jasper if he is expecting anyone before I let whomever it is up.

The hallway he disappeared down is fairly long and at the end are two doors. Both are slightly ajar. I can hear the shower running and music playing. I try to place the song. Just as I go to knock, I pause, and then grin, it’s Led Zeppelin—the same music that used to blare from his garage when he was out there with his father.

Somehow in my absentminded quandary, my fingertips have nudged the door open just enough that I can see inside the bathroom. Perfectly. In my direct line of sight is a huge glass wall and he is just beyond it.

My pulse is beating so hard I can feel it pounding at all my pulse points. I should leave. I don’t need to bother Jasper. Whoever it is buzzing to come up can just come back later. Yet, I can’t move. Or maybe it’s more like I don’t want to move.

Steam hovers in the air but there’s not nearly enough to obscure anything. And there he is, naked in the water, head bent as it sluices over him. His eyes are closed. One hand is on the wall. The other slides slowly down his belly and lands between his thighs.

Oh, God.

Now I really can’t move. I’m frozen in place. His hand is on his cock. I swallow the noise my throat tries to make, but I’m sure I don’t do a good job of it. Thank you, Jesus, he doesn’t seem to notice. No, he definitely doesn’t notice because oh, my God, now he’s stroking himself. Slowly. Deliciously. Up, then down, and a twist of his palm around the head of his cock.

I shouldn’t be watching this, and yet I can’t look away. This is private. For him only, and yet I have to wonder if it’s because of me. Is it his attraction to me that made him step back just moments ago? Made him have to relieve the desire he was feeling? Then why did he say he wouldn’t kiss me again?

When he moves his wrist faster, I have to stifle my sudden harsh breath with my hand. My eyes are glued to his body and although I should leave, I can’t. I just can’t. Jasper, doing this to himself, is the most erotic thing I’ve ever seen in my life. The only thing stopping me from reaching between my own legs is my perverted fascination with wanting to watch him come. Oh, and of course the terror of getting caught.

His mouth opens, water filling it and overflowing when he tips his face into the spray. I want so much to be in there with him, share the water, and feel that mouth on my body, but I’m not sure that’s ever going to happen. We seem to be dancing around the attraction we feel for each other. Like both of us are afraid to take that leap from a two-decade-old friendship to intimacy. Afraid perhaps of where it might lead, or maybe where it won’t.

I can’t be sure.

Then again, it could be that the ghosts that accompany us are just too strong to bear.

Soon he’s fucking into his fist with a deliberation that makes me weak at the knees, and I watch. I watch the way his muscles cord in his arms, the way his cock moves within the confines of his fist, the way his face contorts into pure pleasure.

Looking at Jasper, watching him about to come, it opens up something within me. The feeling is hard to describe and I can only think of one word that is fitting—primal.

His cock disappears inside his curled fingers and this stroke seems somehow more determined. Up, down, a twist around his crown, and then another twist. This time his head dips down, and then lowers still.

I press my thighs together to ward off the ache of arousal that is flooding me. I can’t hear him, but I wish I could. I know what he’s feeling, though, because I can see his mouth open and his face contort with satisfaction. He’s close. I can tell. And then soon enough, his taut belly strains, the muscles in his legs bunch, and then it happens—his desire jets out.

Never in my life have I wanted to make myself come like I do right in this moment. No, that’s not true. Never in my life have I wished for a man to take me the way I wish for Jasper to take me right now. Still, this is all kinds of wrong. I shouldn’t have watched him. I know this. Chiding myself, I lick salt from my upper lip and slowly, cautiously take a step back.

“Is there a show going on that I wasn’t invited to?”

That voice. I know that voice. The cynicism behind the tone.

Oh, God.

No. No. No.
