My Review

Cowboy, Cross My Heart is the second book in the Heart of Texas Series and it follows the story of Brice and Naomi. When Naomi returns home to photograph her best friend, she can’t help but be swept away in the life she used to have. Finding that special someone may not have been on the menu for Naomi, but when she meets Brice, all bets are off…Brice is the total cowboy. He’s full of heart, totally sweet, charming and can’t resist helping someone in need. So, when he discovers someone is harassing Naomi, he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe…

Overall, I found this book to be an enjoyable read. This is my first book by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to her writing style. But, I have to say, I thought this book was written well. This story pulls you in instantly and will keep you on your toes the entire time. I loved all the suspenseful moments, the danger lurking around every corner. I enjoyed Brice and Naomi together. Their sparks were instant and their romance was definitely a case of insta-love, but I think it worked really well with these two. I enjoyed seeing Brice come back to life and open his heart to another woman. I liked seeing the possessiveness he had for Naomi and how he’d stop at nothing to protect her. I thought Naomi was a great character. She was super protective of those she lets get close and is a really great friend. Together, these two had some great tension and it was fun watching the two of them try to figure things out.

Cowboy, Cross My Heart was a quick and easy read for me. I definitely think you could finish this book in a single sitting. I loved the suspense and mystery of the story. I think the addition of the villain’s point of view really added to the story and had me turning the pages faster to see how the story was going to play out. My only complaint is that I feel like the ending of the book was a bit rushed. I feel like after the great build of mystery and suspense, that the resolution came too quickly. I would have liked to have seen it more paced with the rest of the story. Other than that, I think the story was great. Cowboy, Cross My Heart is a quick read that will grab you from the first page and will keep you on your toes. This story has just the right amount of steam, action, suspense and of course romance. This is my first book by this author and it most certainly won’t be my last. I look forward to discovering more from this author in the future.

Review: Twined Bond (Holly Woods Files #7) by Emma Hart

My Review

I have been following this series from the very first book and with each book that followed, I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with not only the story, but the characters. I am so not ready to say goodbye to Noelle and Drake and the whole Bond clan. Their story has entertained me. It has thrilled me. It has made me laugh my ass off and it has put tears in my eyes…

Twined Bond was everything I could possibly ask for in the conclusion of Drake and Noelle’s story. It’s not all sunshine and roses, because let’s face it, everything can’t possibly go right in Drake and Noelle’s world. And what would their story be without a little death and mystery along the way. And since you know there is no way in hell I am going to spoil this epic ending for you, I will tell you this: Settle in. Get comfortable and just enjoy the ride. Devour each world and live each moment. Feel the love and devotion that Drake and Noelle have for one another. Live through the ups and downs and see just how far these characters have come. As sad as I am to see this story come to end, I have to say that Emma Hart has knocked it out of the park with this story. She has given me the most satisfying ending and has left me with the biggest smile on my face. Thank you so much Emma Hart for this incredible story and these amazing characters. I will never forget them….

Review: Sugar Free (Sugar Bowl #3) by Sawyer Bennett

My Review

Sugar Free is the exciting conclusion to the Sugar Bowl series. This book picks up right where we last left off and delivers a fast paced and thrilling read. Sela and Beck’s story captivated me the entire time. This book was filled with so many twists and crazy situations. I was on the edge of my seat, wondering just how everything was going to play out. There were times where I thought there was no way out, and I just had to keep reading. I had to see how the story would come together in the end.

Sela and Beck do not disappoint in the final installment of their story. They will be tested in ways that they never anticipated. But the one thing that remains strong through it all is the love and devotion that they have for one another.

Sugar Free is an exciting read from start to finish. It pulls you in and entertains you. The characters are intriguing and will have you wrapped up in their dark tale. This story is filled with drama, romance and suspense. And I couldn’t have been happier with the way things turned out.

This. This is the book that we’ve all been waiting for. Finally. Finally we get Bek’s story. And let me tell you, Bek’s story does not disappoint. From the moment you pick up this book, you are sucked into Bek’s story. Noelle has left things in her hands while she goes on a much needed vacation, but you have to know even with Noelle gone, there is never a dull moment in Holly Woods. Bek’s story hits the ground running and I promise you, there is never a dull moment. From an easy case, to an unexpected danger, this story will keep you on your toes.

There’s not much I’m gonna say about Bek’s story, because I don’t want to spoil it for you. Here’s what I will tell you. This story is fun and entertaining. It has the great humor that we’ve come to know and love with this series. All of our favorite characters make appearances and they definitely know how to keep things interesting. This story has something for everyone. There is mystery, and suspense. There is danger and a case that desperately needs to be solved. There are exciting twists and turns. There is romance and some wonderful steamy moments. This book honestly has it all.

Burning Bond is a fantastic addition to The Holly Woods Files. This might be Bek’s story, but it certainly fits right in with this series. Bek’s story was everything that I wanted it to be and more. It is incredibly well written and will captivate you from page one. I loved every single moment of Bek’s story and my only complaint is that the story is now over.

Once again, I am going to keep this review 100% spoiler free….

Transfer picks up right where Retrieval left off. Once again, I was sucked into the story and lost in the multiple points of view. This story answered all of my questions and kept me on the edge of my seat. Aly Martinez does not disappoint in this second novel. The Transfer is filled with drama, romance and suspense. Some parts of the story are shocking and will have you asking yourself, “Did this really just happen?”

Overall, Transfer was a fantastic conclusion to The Retrieval Series. It is fast paced and will captivate you. It will keep you on your toes right until the very end. And speaking of the end, the end will just leave you breathless….Please. Please. Please do not read any spoilers for this book. As I stated in my previous review for this series, you need to go into it blind and experience it for yourself. I promise the journey will be worth it.

EXCERPT

“Where’d you get beer?” Elisabeth asked as she scrambled from the couch.

“Seth,” I replied, hanging my head and rubbing my eyes.

Jesus, I’d wanted to kiss her. She was being a bitch, spouting shit she didn’t mean just because she was too scared to let me in.

But, even through it, those plump lips were calling to me.

I’d never been able to resist that woman. Despite that we’d fallen apart, it hadn’t changed. The hum for her was still in my veins. It never went away, but for two years, it had been dormant. I’d packed it down so tightly that I’d hoped it had died. But, with one look, my body began thrumming like a live wire.

“Seth?” she asked as she bent over to straighten her tight, black pencil skirt.

It was a rare occasion to catch Elisabeth in something other than a perfectly pressed skirt and a pair of heels. But she’d been sleeping all day. It was wrinkled all to hell and back. The only thing her efforts succeeded in was drawing my attention down to her legs.

Legs that had spent many nights wrapped around my hips as she came while crying my name.

Shit. I should go.

But, after the way she’d latched on to me that morning, I wasn’t going anywhere.

“My assistant,” I answered. “I had him pick you up a bottle of wine, too.”

She blinked. “You have an assistant? Who delivers you beer? And your ex-wife wine?”

“No, I have an assistant who does whatever the fuck I need him to do. And, luckily for us, beer and wine happen to fall into the whatever-the-fuck-I-need-him-to-do category tonight.” She fought back a smile as I finished, “So do gyros.”

“Damn. I need to get one of those,” she mumbled to herself.

I smirked. “Cash my checks and you could afford one.”

It was a dick move, bringing up the money right then. But, despite her expert hand in decorating, that little starter house we’d bought with rose-colored glasses now needed a shit-ton of work.

Her back shot ramrod straight, fury crinkling the corners of her eyes as she snarled, “I’m not cashing your checks.”

I shrugged. “Guess you’ll have to figure out how to get your own wine and dinner after tonight.”

“I think I can manage,” she fired back.

“Suit yourself.” I pushed off the couch and meandered to the kitchen.

I went to the fridge and leaned in, searching for anything I could snack on. With the exception of at least a dozen Tupperware containers, she didn’t have much in the way of a quick bite.

Snagging a handful of grapes from the drawer, I made a mental note to send Seth to the grocery store after he’d delivered dinner.

Popping the grapes in my mouth one by one, I felt her watching me in what could only be defined as silent awe. I decided my best move would be to ignore it. “You know, I should have invented Tupperware. You alone could keep me in business,” I told her, retrieving a beer and then shutting the door.

She scoffed then muttered, “At least then I would have benefitted from you abandoning our marriage.”

Lava fresh off the volcanoes in Hell boiled in my veins.

I cocked my head to the side and questioned, “I’m sorry. Come again?”

“You should go,” she snapped.

Think a-fucking-gain.

“Nah, I’m good. Got any movies?”

I tipped the bottle to my lips, doing my best to calm the storm brewing within me, all while still fighting the desire to take her to the floor, plant myself between her legs, and remind her how that fucking attitude affected me.

Clearly, she had forgotten.

My cock had not.

“Roman, it’s been a crazy day. Please don’t do this tonight.”

“Do what?” I asked, leaning back against the huge, granite island.

She threw her hands out to the sides in frustration. “What you always do.”

“What do I always do, Lissy?”

“This!” she yelled.

I frowned and took another pull from my beer. “Haven’t been in our kitchen, drinking beer, in a long time. I hardly think it’s fair to say I always do it.”

Her eyes nearly bulged from her head. “My kitchen, Roman. This is my kitchen. Not ours. And you know good and damn well that is not what I’m talking about.”

My lips twitched as I pointed the neck of my bottle at her. “No. What I know good and damn well is that I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. Or why you’re slinging unnecessary and, might I add, undeserved attitude at me like a short-order cook at the bitch house.”

“He did not say that to me,” she whispered to herself.

When I lifted a shoulder in a half shrug, she swung a pointed finger toward the door and yelled, “Get out!”

I grinned, crossing my legs at the ankle. “You always were cranky when you were hungry.”

And that was the exact moment her head exploded.

Hard Rules was one of my most anticipated reads of 2016. Lisa Renee Jones is one of those authors for me, that I will automatically one click. I know I can count on her stories for a sinful, yet suspenseful read. And with a description describing it as Wall Street meets Sons of Anarachy, I just knew I had to grab this book. And let me tell you, Hard Rules does not disappoint.

From the moment you pick up Hard Rules, you are sucked in by the prologue. Your curiosity has been peaked. You are intrigued and have to know more. Before you know it, you are completely lost in Emily and Shane’s story as well as the world that Lisa Renee Jones has created. There are secrets, lies and danger around every corner. You will find yourself turning the pages faster, as you try to figure out what is going on and who you can really trust.

Of course, this would not be a Lisa Renee Jones story without a sinful, sexy, alpha male. And let me tell you, Shane hits all those marks. The chemistry between Shane and Emily is scorching. When Shane and Emily are together, not only are they able to forget about their troubles, but they completely lose themselves in the passion they share. It’s like there is not outside world. They can escape their families, all the secrets and truths that have yet to be discovered.

Hard Rules is a fantastic start to Dirty Money Series. I found this story to be an intriguing and entertaining read. I loved the characters and am dying to know more. I loved all the secrets and twists. This story is like a giant puzzle, just waiting to be solved. I have a lot of questions and can not wait to discover the answers. I will warn you, this book does end with a cliffhanger and it is a good one! I know I can’t wait to find out what will happen next!

Review: Burn Down The Night (Everything I Left Unsaid #3) by Molly O’Keefe

The only thing that matters to me is rescuing my sister from the drug-cooking cult that once enslaved us both. I’ve run cons my whole life, and I’ll use my body to get whatever I need. The deal was supposed to be simple: a place to hide in exchange for rescuing my sister. Now he’s my prisoner. Totally at my mercy. But I’m the one captivated. Enthralled. Doing everything he asks of me until I’m not sure who’s in control.

We both crave the heat. The more it hurts, the better. But what if Max wants a different life now, to leave the game . . . to love me? I thought I knew better than to get burned. Now I’m in too deep to pull away. And the crazy thing is . . . I don’t want to.

My Review

Wow! What a crazy ride!!

Burn Down The Night is the thrilling third installment of the Everything I Left Unsaid series and this story focuses on Joan and Max. When we meet up with Joan and Max, Joan is at the strip club and is desperate to find where her sister is. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Before you know it, there are explosions and gunshots. Joan takes off into the night with Max in the back of her car. Joan believes that Max holds the key to finding her sister….It was supposed to be easy. Joan would save Max’s life and provide him with a safe place to stay in exchange for his help. What she didn’t plan on was falling for this dark and intense man. Their attraction is intense, but the last thing Joan is looking for is love. Will Joan be able to find her sister before it’s too late?

Burn Down The Night was a fantastic read, from start to finish. It blew me away and was not what I was expecting at all. The story pulls you in from the very beginning and keeps you entertained the entire time. This story was sexy and intriguing. It was complex and had you holding your breath waiting to see how everything would play out.

Joan really took me by surprise. I knew she was intense from the previous books, but I didn’t fully understand just how intense she was until I read this book. I loved that about her. She was intense, strong and confident with who she was. She was afraid of love and kindness, but you couldn’t help, but hope that she would find someone to worship her the way that she deserved. And Max….I’ve been wanting to know more about him for some time now. Yes, he is a jerk. But, there is so much more to him. He is also intense and has one hell of a dirty mouth. He doesn’t trust easy and is the definition of badass. Put him together with Joan and the two of them are just explosive. They have chemistry unlike anything I’ve experienced before and watching them fall was so worth the ride.

Burn Down The Night is an exciting and well written read. It is filled with action and danger. There is suspense and a few delicious twists along the way. This book is exciting, sexy as hell, but even has a few sweet moments. This book exceeded my expectations and took me on one hell of a thrilling ride.
