Even the town’s black sheep needed a friend sometimes

Southern Storms, an all-new, small town second chance romance from Brittainy C. Cherry, is available now!

All I wanted to do was run away, I never expected to crash into his arms…

After leaving the city life behind to escape my loveless marriage, I moved to small town Havenbarrow for a fresh start.

What I didn’t expect was to find myself drawn to the town’s black sheep.

They called him troubled. Cold. A man with a dark past.

What everyone seemed to miss about Jax was the splashes of light in his eyes. The random acts of kindness he performed when no one was watching. The way he made me smile and laugh.

Jax helped unpack the baggage I’d been carrying around with me. He was patient with my pain and gentle with my scars. He was the stillness during my hurricane.

Yet when both of our pasts come back to haunt our present days, we realized quickly that sometimes love stories didn’t end the way we’d hoped.

Sometimes you were left with only the damage from the storm.

MY REVIEW

“After every storm, the sun would shine again.”

“I wished for a miracle, and around the corner was Jax Kilter.”

“The best thing in life that we can ever do is be brave enough to love. Fall in lover with her, and then don’t you ever stop….”

Another heartbreaking and beautifully written second chance romance from author Brittiany C. Cherry. Southern Storms is sure to capture your heart and leave you with so many feels.

Southern Storm follows the story of Jax and Kennedy. The last year or so of Kennedy’s life has been one heck of a roller-coaster ride. When her husband demands a divorce from her, it’s the straw the breaks the camels back. Kennedy flees town and finds sanctuary in her sister’s hometown. The one thing she didn’t see coming was Jax. Jax might be the town’s black sheep and biggest jerk, but there is more to Jax than meets the eye. There’s light in his darkness, but he doesn’t let many see. The connection between these two lost souls proves to be bigger than either one of them could ever imagine and only time will tell if these two lost souls can weather the storm that is about to come for them….

Southern Storms is the kind of story that sucks in you in from the very beginning and captures your soul. From the moment I met Kennedy, I was drawn to and consumed by her. Her story broke my heart. She was so lost, so hurt. She only wanted someone to understand her pain and to love her the way that she needed to be loved. And then there is Jax. Jax is known as the town jerk. He’s rude and closed off. He doesn’t let anyone in, no matter how hard they try. His past consumes him with guilt and makes it so hard for him to move on. And when fate brings these two lost souls together, all bets are off. No matter how hard they try to fight it or how hard they try to stay away, Jax and Kennedy are like magnets. They can’t fight the pull.

The road to happily ever after is quite a bumpy one for Jax and Kennedy. Their story broke me and had me rooting for them to find their happily ever after. I loved watching them trying to navigate their way through all the cards that fate had dealt them. It wasn’t easy, but nothing worth having is. Sometimes love will test you and if you can make it out to see the other side, then you know, your love is powerful enough to weather any storm.

Southern Storms is the true meaning of a second chance romance. The characters are real and raw and were given the best supporting cast. The writing is powerful and beautiful at the same time. Southern Storms is heartbreaking. It’s beautiful. It’s filled with hope and a few surprises along the way. It’s everything I want in a love story and then some…

Southern Storms kicks off the Compass Series with one heck of a start and I can’t wait to see what journey lies ahead for us readers next!

Excerpt

Kennedy

Joy Jones was quite the character to take in. That morning, when the sun came up, she walked outside to her front porch and sat down in her rocking chair with a smile on her face and a large cup of coffee. A few of my nosy visitors told me that it was a daily routine for her.

Her silver-dripped hair was tossed up in a messy bun being held together with two knitting needles, and her thick-framed, vibrant-orange glasses sat on top of her head. She wore a vibrant bow in her hair that matched her dress for the day, and she always greeted everyone who passed by her house, even when they didn’t speak back to her. Everyone in town called her Crazy Joy, even though she was the kindest person. Her only odd quirk was that she never left her property.

I wondered how she managed, though. I wondered how she kept living without stepping foot outside of her home. It seemed she hadn’t any children and she didn’t have a caregiver who came to aid her, from what I could tell.

Later that morning, my questions were answered as a blue pick-up truck pulled in front of the house. Needless to say, my jaw dropped to the ground when I saw Mr. Personality step out of the vehicle. He walked his way straight toward Joy’s front porch with his arms filled with grocery bags.

He proceeded to greet Joy. She stood from the rocking chair as he set the bags down on the porch. Then, he hugged her.

He hugged her!

I wouldn’t have thought someone as grumpy as Mr. Personality had the ability to hug someone. The two of them walked inside to put the groceries away, leaving me completely baffled and unable to return to my scheduled reading. It took a lot to break me away from a book. And by ‘a lot,’ I meant a lot. My house could’ve been on fire, aliens could’ve beamed me up, and I would’ve still been trying to get in that one last page. When my own love story was broken, I turned to story books to heal the cracks of my broken heartbeats. When my world fell apart, the story books still believed in happily ever afters. Those books saved me on the days I felt my soul falling victim to the hardest of storms.

Yet, Mr. Personality pulled me away from the words against the page. He made me curious about him walking into Joy’s house. Watching him chat away with her had my mind racing. A few minutes later, when the two of them walked back outside with two glasses in their hands—one with wine, the other with some dark liquor—whiskey, I assumed—I couldn’t stop myself from glancing over to them. Joy kept talking, and Mr. Personality kept responding. Even though I couldn’t hear what they were saying, Joy looked beyond smitten with whatever was being said her way, which forced my own heart to skip a few beats.

Well, I’ll be damned.

The town’s asshole made me swoon.

Hot. Flirty. Romantic.
It all started as pretend…
My best friend, and one of the most powerful men in New York, needed my help.
Our first kiss was unexpected—but it still made my skin sizzle, my knees go weak.
The next one was in front of his tight-knit family. We had to be convincing. But it was so wicked hot, it almost convinced me too.
On our first night together, he told me that I had to keep us both in check, because he didn’t know how to keep the lines from blurring…
He touched me like I was precious, and held me close… barely stopping his fingers from pushing down the straps of my dress…
On our second night, our banter turned to flirting. Hunter—my best friend was now Hunter—the man. Intense. Alluring. Sexy as hell.

She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.

Review: Gypsy King (Tin Gypsy #1) by Devney Perry

The former Tin Gypsy motorcycle club has everyone in Clifton Forge, Montana convinced they’ve locked their clubhouse doors and ripped off their patches. Everyone but Bryce Ryan. There’s more happening at the club’s garage than muscle car restorations and Harley rebuilds. Her instincts are screaming there’s a story—one she’s going to tell.

As the new owner of the small town’s newspaper, Bryce is hungry for more than birth announcements and obituaries. When a woman is brutally killed and all signs point to the Tin Gypsies, Bryce is determined to expose the club and their leader, Kingston “Dash” Slater, as murderers.

Bryce bests Dash match after match, disappointed her rugged and handsome opponent turns out to be an underwhelming adversary. Secrets are exposed. Truths defeat lies. Bryce is poised to win this battle in a landslide.

Then Dash breaks all the rules and tips the scales.

One kiss, and she’s fighting to save more than just her story. She’s fighting to save her heart from the Gypsy King.

MY REVIEW

“From the day she’d come to the garage, my brain and emotions had been all twisted.”

“Vengeance doesn’t care if we’re wearing patches or not.”

“She was it for me. She was the woman I hadn’t known I’d needed. My partner in crime. My confidant. My heart. Whoever did this to her would pay. I’d have my vengeance and it would be bloody.”

Gypsy King was everything I was looking for and then some!!

It’s no secret that I am a huge Devney Perry fan. Her words, her characters and her stories stay with you long after the story ends. So, when I heard she had a new series on the horizon, I couldn’t wait to dive right in. And let me tell you, Gypsy King does not disappoint. Gypsy King checked off all of my boxes and kept me hanging on every word. It was a refreshing take on the MC genre and if this first book in the Tin Gypsy Series is any indication of how this series will go, all I can is fans you are in for one heck of a ride…..

Gypsy King follows the story of Bryce and Dash. After chasing what Bryce thought was her dream career, she finds herself returning home to run the local newspaper. Small town news wasn’t exactly what Bryce was looking for and when a local woman is brutally murdered, Bryce thinks she’s finally found the big break she was looking for. Bryce is determined to uncover the truth, even if that means going head to head with the former members of the Tin Gypsy MC….Ever since the Tin Gypsy MC turned in their patches, Dash and his crew have been trying to live the straight and narrow. These men are in no way perfect and have done things that they aren’t proud of, but they’ve worked hard to make an honest living and aren’t about to give that up. The last thing Dash expected was to find himself going head to head with the town’s newbie reporter. Dash and Bryce clash in more ways than one, but in order to uncover the truth, Bryce and Dash must find a way to work together. One thing you should know about Dash, is that Dash never plays by the rules and Bryce is about to be taken for one crazy ride….

Man, oh, man! There is just so much to love about Gypsy King. I mean, this story sucks you from the very first page and makes it completely impossible to put down. The characters are fun and entertaining. They have an air of mystery about them that leaves you asking questions and wondering what their stories are. I mean what more can you ask for; reformed bikers and a small town setting??!! Sign me up please!!

Gypsy King was filled with lots of mystery and intrigue. I felt like I was right along with Dash & Bryce, trying to uncover the truth and lies. One thing is for certain, it was super easy to get swept up in this story and I couldn’t wait to see how everything would play out. Speaking of Bryce and Dash, these two characters were perfectly matched. They had excellent push and pull. Their banter kept me on my toes. I loved the tension and sparks between them. It oozed off the pages and kept me begging for more. The road to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one, but the journey was totally worth it.

Gypsy King is a fantastic start to the Tin Gypsy Series. This book was gritty and intense when it needed to be, yet was filled with the heart and signature swoon that we have come to know and love from this author. Gypsy King had some fantastic twists, that kept me on my toes right until the very end. I fell head over heels for Bryce and Dash and can not wait to see where this series will go next!

Review: Saint (Knights of Fury #1) by Chantal Fernando

Posted on

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Wind Dragons and Cursed Ravens MC series comes sinners, saints and secrets…

Dear Skylar,

Five years. That’s a long time to go without talking to somebody, especially someone who was such a huge part of your life…

A letter from my first kiss and my childhood everything…from prison.

He may be nicknamed Saint, but this sweet, sexy biker most definitely has a wild streak. Hearing from him draws me right back into the Knights of Fury motorcycle club—the people I’ll always think of as family.

He’s still the only man I’ve ever wanted.

Each good, old-fashioned letter from my “prison pen pal” has my heart racing. Which is nothing compared to how I feel when Saint surprises me in person, as a free man.

I was just a kid the last time we saw each other, but the connection between us now is anything but innocent.

He’s the type of man who would do anything to protect his woman. And with my world crashing down around me, that’s exactly what I’m going to need.

Please note: This book is part of the Knights of Fury MC series but can be read as a stand-alone.

MY REVIEW

“If jealousy is that burn in your chest and that feeling of dread in your stomach, then yeah, I’ve got that.”

“Happiness is the wind in my hair and a road trip leading to a fresh start.”

“This is where I’ve always meant to be, this is fate, and this man is my soul mate.”

From the moment I laid eyes on this book, I just knew I had to read it. I mean, not only was the cover fantastic, but the synopsis drew me in. I haven’t read a biker book for a while, so I was more than ready to check this book out.

Saint follows the story of Saint and Skylar. Skylar has had a crush on Saint for as long as she can remember. The only problem was that she was five years younger. So, as much as she felt the pull, she and Saint could never be. Skylar thought she’d always live the MC life, that is until her mom took her away. It will be five years before Skylar is reunited with not only Saint, by her Knights of Fury family. The chemistry between Skylar and Saint burns hotter than ever and now that Skylar is an adult, all bets are off. Saint is everything that Skylar has always wanted and there is nothing Saint wouldn’t do to protect those he loves. And when Skylar is found in a dangerous situation, she can only hope that Saint will rescue her before it’s too late….

Overall, I found this story to be a really enjoyable read. I liked Skylar. She was loyal to her MC family and has been doing the best she could without them. She’s sassy, and super smart. She loves big and loves hard. And then we’ve got Saint. Saint is far from perfect, but is as loyal as they come. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to protect the ones he loves and Skylar. He’s fierce and protective, but has a lot of secrets he’s keeping close to his chest. Together these two were a smokin match. I loved their chemistry and their banter. I loved the moments where Saint was oh, so sweet, and then the next he was a total alpha male. Now, I will be honest with you, Skylar did get on my nerves sometimes. She jumped to a lot of conclusions and let her inexperience and immaturity show. Those moments really frustrated me, but I was able to look past it and just enjoy the ride.

Saint kicks off this new series to a really good start. I thought the characters were great and their story certainly sucked you in. I loved the suspense and danger, as well as the steaminess and romance. I loved the twists that kept me on edge and wondering what was going to be thrown at us next. Even though I did have some issues with this book, I think this series has a ton of really good potential and I look forward to checking out the next book in this series.
