Musicians Sale Blitz Banner April 3

This week, I’m helping Entangled Publishing celebrate the heroes of Embrace & New Adult Romance!

Today we’re shining the spotlight on musicians and rockstars! Entangled has all of the Embrace Musician’s stories on sale today for just 99¢.

Here’s what Embrace authors have to say about their rockstars.

Are any of your rockstar characters inspired by real life people? If so, who?

A.S. Green (author of Summer Girl): Well… there may have a been a gorgeous guitar-playing camp counselor in my early teen years who left an impression and inspired Bennet from “Summer Girl.”

Katie Delahanty (author of The Brightside series): Many of the experiences, especially in In Bloom, are inspired by real-life events/run-ins with real-life celebrities (sometimes actors, not exclusively musicians) so my characters are sort of inspired by real people… I’d say they are a mishmash of the many artists, both famous and up and coming, that I’ve had the privilege of knowing over the years as part of the Los Angeles music scene. When we were dating, my husband (then boyfriend) was in a band that used to open for Kara’s Flowers–who went on to become Maroon 5. My husband is good friends with Adam Levine so I was along for the ride (and was often the shy girl hiding in the corner at celebrity parties) as they rose to success. People often ask if Berkeley is based on Adam and the short answer is he’s not character-wise, but in some ways Adam taught Berkeley everything he knows experience-wise. Other bands/celebs that have “cameos” in my books include The Killers and Jake Gyllenhaal, and all of the music/lyrics are borrowed from my husband’s band, The Remainers.

Lisa Burstein (author of The Possibility of Us): In my Young Adult book, Mia and The Bad Boy. Ryder Brooks a reluctant member of a boy band is based on River Phoenix.

Tara Kelly (author of Encore): Yes – Sean in Encore – was actually inspired by my husband. They are differences, for sure, but their personalities are similar.

Besides rockstars & musicians, what kind of heroes do you like to read about?

A.S. Green: I love any hero with a troubled past and something to prove, even if he’s the only one who needs convincing.

Katie Delahanty: Entrepreneurs–anybody who is chasing a dream and is driven to succeed.

Lisa Burstein: Artists of any kind. I find creativity and angst super sexy.

Tara Kelly: I’ve got a soft spot for computer/science geeks (particularly of the hacker variety), any type of artist, mechanics, heroes who, underneath their corporate suit/image, are tattooed and have a chaotic, wild side.

How would you describe your own musical talent?

A.S. Green: I can do a mean karaoke version of “I Will Survive.”

Katie Delahanty: Ugh. Non-existent!

Lisa Burstein: Not great talent-wise but better story-wise. I took keyboard lessons in middle school from one of them members of Kool and the Gang. He told us he used to be a member, but he also worked at Sears in the keyboard department, so looking back I’m not so sure. He’d bring his bass over and play in my dining room while trying to teach me the keys.

Tara Kelly: I’m a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. I play guitar, bass, piano, and sing.

Encore by Tara Kelly
I lied my way into a band, humiliated them on stage, and got my heart broken by the bassist. Now…we’re on tour together. This is the best opportunity we may ever have –and it’s already a disaster. We’re broke. We can’t stop fighting. And being in such close quarters to Sean isn’t exactly helping me get over him. Even though we’re just friends now, every time our fingers brush or our eyes catch, my heart betrays me. He’s the kind of distraction I can’t afford to have right now…no matter how much I wish things were different.

In Bloom by Katie Delahanty
The Brightside Series
How does someone like me, an ordinary girl from Pittsburgh, wind up in the arms of the world’s sexiest rock star—surrounded by celebrities, fashion, and music—and not be eaten alive? Berkeley Dalton is everything I’ve ever dreamed of in a boyfriend, but the paparazzi, the tabloids, the rumors, it’s all getting a bit too crazy. My life has become every girl’s dream come true, if only I don’t blink and lose it all…

Blushing by Katie Delahanty
The Brightside Series
When Berkeley proposed, I thought we’d live happily ever after. Instead he dropped a bombshell: he’s starring in a movie with his gorgeous ex, Christina Carlton. And what’s more? I’ve been erased from the public eye. To be together, Berkeley asked me to work on set as a costume designer—a dream come true—but there’s a catch: we have to keep our relationship secret. I’m okay with not being photographed, but the sneaking around, the lies, his love scenes; it’s not how I imagined our engagement. Am I ready to drop everything to become Olivia Dalton?

Believe by Katie Delahanty
The Brightside Series
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to fall for the adorable bass player of my favorite band. I’m a doctor beginning a five-year residency, and there’s no room in my life for fairy tales—only patients and perfection. But I can’t stop thinking about him. Could he be the One? Am I ready to risk everything I’ve worked for? All for a chance at a happily ever after I never believed possible.

Summer Girl by A.S. Green
A songwriter is nothing without his muse. Sucks that mine turns out to be Katherine D’Arcy—hot as hell, but the very definition of country-club living and everything I came to this quiet little island to escape. I thought I’d find inspiration here, but I’ve been unable to write crap. That is until the uptight summer girl arrived to tend the lighthouse and the music began to flow. If only there wasn’t that one inconvenient truth I’ve been keeping from her…

The Possibility of Us by Lisa Burstein
Cassie doesn’t want to go to the funeral. She had enough to handle with her own hollow existence. But she knew she should pay her respects to her old camp counselor…as long as her ex, Ben, wouldn’t be there. Except Ben is there. Still gorgeous, still angry, and still able to penetrate her defenses with one intense stare. All the reasons they left each other in a flurry of heartache start to fall away over one long, snowy weekend. But tough Cassie can’t truly open up to Ben when she knows confessing her secrets will leave her raw, defenseless. And the possibility of forever might not be enough to gamble on all the impossibilities of now.

Book Blitz with Review: Managed (VIP #2) by Kristen Callihan

managed-amazonIt started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat down next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

My Review

“She is dangerous because I can’t control her. And she is utterly beautiful, like molten glass that tempts you to touch even though you know you’ll get burned.”

“Pictures capture moments in time. I want this one–when you finally let me see a sliver of the man behind the clothes.”

“I’ve lived my whole life denying myself what I truly want. And yet I can not turn from you. Haven’t you realized it yet? I am yours. I will always be yours, whether I touch you or not.”

I did not think it would be possible to love a book as much as I loved this one. From the moment I was introduced to Scottie and Sophie, I fell in love. Their banter was so entertaining. Sophie was one that was not afraid to say what she was thinking and just loved getting a rise out of Scottie. Scottie was dangerous. He was sexy, broody even with his British accent. He was so refined, serious, never one to play. Being stuck next to Sophie on his flight turned out to be the best thing that ever happened. Seriously, I could not get enough of the interactions between the two of them. I just wanted to keep reading, so I could keep seeing them together. Then you add their amazing chemistry and slow burn of their relationship, and I gotta tell you, I was just hooked. The push and pull between these two was off the charts. Sophie brought out a part of Scottie that I don’t think even he knew existed. She made him want to live and experience life. She reminded him of what it was like to have fun and brought so much light into his life. Not to mention, she brought out this total alpha side in him that was hotter than ever!! Seriously though, the emotions and feelings between these two were just so palpable and so deep. I. Could. Not. Get. Enough.

Managed was so much more than I ever expected. This is the kind of romance that I just live for. The romance between Scottie and Sophie was slow building, but oh so swoon worthy. It was so real and so worth the wait. I just loved it.

What else can I tell you about Managed? Well, the writing is just incredible. It is entertaining. It is captivating. And is down right swoon worthy. This story has the perfect balance of angst, drama and romance. This story is going to make you laugh out loud, it is going to frustrate the hell out of you, but most importantly, you are going to fall in love. This is one of those stories that I wish would never end and one that I could definitely see myself re-reading many times.

I hope that you will take a chance on Managed and fall in love with the characters and the story just as I have.

In all this time, I had yet to see Gabriel without a shirt. He hides his body like a pious Victorian, never letting me see anything other than him fully dressed and polished. Now I know why. Had he let me get a glimpse, I might never have been able to form a coherent thought around him.

This man’s chest is a work of art. It’s every fantasy I’ve had about a man’s body made real. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but I’m not about to complain. God, he looks touchable. Olive skin, tight little brownish nipples, a smattering of dark chest hair over the most incredibly honed—

“You’re staring.” His tone is dry.

“Yes, I am.” I drag my eyes up and find his expression bemused.
A thick brow lifts. I try to mimic the look and fail when both of my brows lift as one. His lips twitch in amusement.

He shifts his weight, causing his abs to clench. Good Lord. He’s not some overdeveloped gym worshiper, just solid and strong, that perfect balance between defined musculature and healthy male—

“You’re still staring, Sophie.”

“You think it’s easy looking away from all this splendor?” I ask his belly button, licking my lips when he huffs out a laugh and just a little bit more of his lower abs are revealed, slanting toward the thick bulge of his cock, which is lamentably hidden behind his slacks.

“You’re impossible,” he mutters, though there is humor in his voice. He strolls farther into the room and then practically kills me when he sits in one of the low-slung armchairs. That body, sprawled out on display, those thick, long thighs braced as if to take me in his lap—it’s too much.

I want to straddle him and lick my way from the hollow of his throat to the tip of his cock.

He eyes me as if he knows what I’m thinking, and the air thickens. So many things we left unsaid. I’m remembering his lips now, surprisingly soft, but strong with purpose.

From the way his lids lower, I wonder if he’s remembering things as well. But he doesn’t move. Tension glides over his body and snakes around the room. I feel it in my throat and down my spine. We’re closing up again, retreating.

Slowly, I toe off my shoes and set my gear down, never breaking eye contact. “I was being completely honest,” I tell him. “I see you like this and I want to stare forever.”
He snorts, shaking his head even as he rests his temple on his knuckles. “What do you mean ‘like this’?”

He tenses. It does lovely things to that chest. I focus on his face, mainly to maintain some semblance of decorum.

“You think this is me undone?” he asks quietly.

“It’s a start.” I reach for my camera bag. “Will you let me photograph you?”

There is safety to be found with the camera between us. A way for both of us to hide until we’re comfortable around each other again.

“You’re serious?”

“You sound surprised.” Holding my camera, I sit in the sofa opposite him. “Don’t tell me no one has asked to take your picture before.”

“They’ve asked. I never saw the point.” He shrugs. “I’m not the story.”

You’re my story. You always were.

“This is just for me,” I say instead. “No one else.”

His shrewd gaze pins me. “Why do you want this?”
So I can have a bit of you forever. “Pictures capture moments in time. I want this one—when you finally let me see a sliver of the man behind the clothes.”

His nostrils flare on an indrawn breath, and he slowly lets it out. When he speaks, his voice is a rasp. “Take the pictures.”

Review: Blow (Virtuous Paradox #1) by Heidi McLaughlin

Bodhi McKnight has always had everything handed to him on a silver platter: fame, success, money, girls. The raven-haired, blue-eyed hottie is the son of Hollywood A-listers, and when he’s asked to join the boy band Virtuous Paradox, his star shoots even higher. But so do expectations, leading Bodhi down a destructive path of addiction—until a drop-dead gorgeous guardian angel shows him her sizzling brand of tough love.

When Bodhi ends up in rehab, he doesn’t expect to meet someone as cool and down-to-earth as Kimberly Gordon. Although he’s enjoyed the company of beautiful, charming women before, none of them have tried to get to know the “real” Bodhi. But Kimberly isn’t fazed by his stardom. She’d rather go horseback riding, teach Bodhi to play guitar, or ask him about his feelings. Soon Bodhi realizes he’s fallen head over heels for her. He just hopes that he’s strong enough to protect what they have from all the pressures and temptations of the outside world.

My Review

“Kiss me. Kiss me like you’re never going to see me again. Kiss me like I’m the last woman alive. Kiss me like I’m your salvation.”

Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. I really liked the idea of the story and felt like it started off with a bang. From the moment I met Bodhi, I just wanted to know more about him and why his life was spiraling so far out of control. Kimberly was an interesting character to me. I appreciated how patient she was and how good of a friend she became to Bodhi.

However, I did have some issues with the story. The biggest ones were the pacing and word usage. Lets tackle the pacing first. For the most part, the pacing of the story was right on track. My issue came into play with Kimberly and Bodhi’s relationship. It didn’t feel very believable and it just progressed way too quickly. I found it very hard to connect with them. I would have liked for them to get to really know one another more. Maybe spend some more time out of recovery, before jumping into a relationship. I would have really liked to see the two of them build their relationship and their connection. Now, please don’t get me wrong, these two had excellent sexual chemistry, but I needed more from them than that. My other big issue was some of the terms used during the sexual moments. I’m not going to go into the specifics, but I will just say that there are some words that are a complete turn off, and sadly, these few were just that for me.

So, yeah, overall this book was just an ok read for me. I struggled with some parts of it, and that’s the reasoning behind my 2.5-3 star rating. I don’t know how I really feel about it, so I’m just going to leave it that way…at least for now. Honestly, I think this is going to be just one of those books that you’re going to love or you’re going to hate. For me, like I said, it was just ok.

Review: The Revolution by S.L. Scott

My world was rock solid.

Until I saw her.

Lara Kessler showed up as if heaven sent her to me, and suddenly my priorities changed. Love is funny like that. One minute you’re living the dream, then BAM! Half my soul shows up backstage wearing a purple shirt and sexy skin-tight jeans, making me realize what I’ve been missing all along. Loving her means exposing a life I’ve tried to bury.

My heart had lost its beat.

Until I saw him.

Kaz Fabian caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on him. Love is funny like that. The famous guitarist was every woman’s fantasy—great face, chiseled jaw, cut biceps. The rock star was pure sex on and off stage, but his charm and charisma won me over. Loving him means burdening him with a life I’ve tried to leave behind.

With her future dim and his past in the spotlight, can they overcome their fate or will they just be another tragic love story?

My Review

“This band is legendary in their own time. Through hits and tragedy they have fallen and risen to the top again.”

“Our relationship has been on a fast track and reckless, but it’s true and wild, and free.”

“This life is worth living because of you. The air crackles in excitement because you dared to enter the room inside my heart. The blood that flows through my veins because of you. Can’t you see, Lara? I’ll take any bad because I’ve tasted and savored the good. I feel alive again.” “Because of you.”

The Revolution is the highly anticipated, fourth book in the Hard to Resist series. And I will be the first to tell you, this book is worth the wait and anticipation. S.L. Scott not only delivers an amazing and captivating romance, but she also gives you a very real, and tough story.

Kaz and Lara’s story will grab you from page one and I promise, you will not be able to put this book down. Kaz and Lara will grab a hold of you and will demand that you devour every word. Kaz is everything that you could possibly want in a book boyfriend. He’s sexy. He’s a musician. He is confident. He is kind. He is patient. He is the entire package and then some. I couldn’t have picked a better partner for Lara if I tried. And Lara…She is an amazing friend and cares deeply for those who she lets into her life. She gives everyone the benefit of the doubt and has faith in everyone, even if they don’t deserve it. While, I didn’t agree with some of her actions, I totally understood where she was coming from and why she made the decisions that she did.

Now, as far as Kaz and Lara go, these two were going to happen. Their chemistry was so intense and so scorching, you’d have to be out of your mind to think otherwise. Kaz and Lara were like magnets and I couldn’t get enough of the pull they had. Their story had a lot of ups and downs. Some downs harder to deal with than others. But, their love held strong the entire time and I couldn’t help but fall deeper and deeper in love with Kaz.

The Revolution was everything I wanted and everything I never knew I needed. This story is filled with lots of love, romance, hope and angst. Lara’s story isn’t always an easy one, and it does have some dark moments, but I am here to tell you that S.L. Scott did an amazing job with those dark moments. She made them intense without going over the top and she showed you that there is light, even in the most darkest moments.

I loved everything about The Revolution, from beginning to end. I loved spending time with old friends and meeting some new ones. Fans of the Hard to Resist series, you are not going to want to miss out on this. I hope that you will fall in love with Kaz and Lara just as I have.

My Review

“She made him want to escape the chaos in his own life.”

“Passion lives inside you, Boone. even when you try to hide it, it’s lying in wait. All you have to do is set it free.”

“Being with you is like playing with fire. You push me like no one else ever has. I should run, but I can’t imagine a single day without seeing you.”

One of the things I love about Melissa Foster is that she never fails to deliver. I can always count on her for sweet, swoon worthy romance, alpha males and low drama. And Chased by Love was just the romance that I was looking for.

One of the things that I loved about Chased by Love was that it wasn’t your typical rock star/ movie star romance. This story is told from dual points of view, and really showcased the struggles that some musicians and actors deal with. The lifestyle on both counts isn’t always sunshine and roses. Musicians can be very private people and can have a ton of demons that haunt them. In the same breath, movie stars aren’t always as they appear either. There is so much more to Boone and Trish than meets the eye and I loved diving into their story.

Boone & Trish pulled me into their story right away. From the moment you meet these two, you can just feel the sparks between them. The tension was just brewing, begging to be unleashed. And once the passion these two had been fighting was finally given into…Oh, boy…Was it ever explosive!!! Not only was their chemistry hotter than ever, but Boone and Trish really were the perfect match. Being from a family with all boys, Trish didn’t scare that easy. She could take the hard and difficult stuff that Boone was dishing out and be the shoulder that he needed to lean on. And Trish showed Boone what real passion was like and that it was ok to fall in love. I loved the side of Boone that Trish brought out. I honestly don’t think Boone knew what to do with his possessive, alpha side and I think that made me fall all the harder for him.

What can I say about Chased by Love? Chased by Love is the third book in The Ryders Series, but I gotta tell you, it can be read as a stand-alone. You won’t be lost at all. That’s one of the other things I love about Melissa Foster’s books. Even though they are all part of interconnected series’, you honestly can jump in at any time and feel right at home. These stories are easy to follow and easy to fall in love with.

Chased by Love is a fantastic summer read. It’s well written and entertaining. The characters are so much fun and you can’t help but fall in love with them the moment you meet them. This story for the most part is light on the drama and angst. It is filled with lots of love and romance, steamy moments and lots of great family time. I loved everything about this story from beginning to end and can’t wait to see what Melissa Foster has up her sleeve next.

Exclusive Excerpt

Unwilling to give him the upper hand, she flashed a haughty smirk and returned his assessment with a lecherous leer of her own, drinking in every inch of his athletic build, from his bulging biceps to the ripped abs evident beneath his clingy shirt, all the way to the formidable package at the juncture of his powerful thighs. She lingered there, brazenly licking her lips.

He leaned in close—so close she thought he might kiss her. And damn it to hell, she wanted him to. Lust and challenge pulsed between them, thick and alive like a third heart.

Release Blitz with Review: Assured (Soul Serenade #2) by Kaylee Ryan

Posted on

Title: Assured
Series: Soul Serenade #2
 Author: Kaylee Ryan
Genre: New Adult Romance
 Release Date: May 7, 2016

I’ve always been the guy who plays the field. I like variety and my career ensures that I can have my pick of women.

Until her…

I’ve always been the girl who wants more. I want the white picket fence, the two point five kids and the dog. That’s what all little girls grow up dreaming about.

Until him…

Why is it that she’s all I can see? I no longer want the variety instead all I want is her. I won’t stop until she believes that she’s mine.

I assure you…

He’s not the kind of guy I usually date. He’s cocky, and famous and that hair. He says I’m what he wants, but I know his type. He likes to play the field. Only with me he’s different.

He’s assured.

My Review

“I tighten my hold on her as realization kicks in . I want to try with her. i want to try to be here more. It’s something I’ve never wanted, never imagined I would ever want. Now that it’s here in my arms, it’s easy to see. She’s everything.”

“She feels like heaven. She feels like home. It hits me like a lightning bolt–this is more for me because I’m falling in love with her.”

I am sucker for a good friends to lovers romance, and let me tell you, Assured does not disappoint.

Told from dual points of view, Assured follows the story of Cole and Stacy. Cole has the life. He loves living his rocker lifestyle and feels that variety is the best part of life. He does’t ever see himself settling…that is until Stacy comes into the picture. She wants more than he’s prepared to give, but he just can’t stay away….Stacy wants what every woman wants: A good man, a partner, someone to love that is your best friend. The last person she ever thought would fit the bill is Cole. Sure, he’s a great friend, but she wants more than one night, she wants it all. When sparks begin to fly and lines become blurred, will Cole be able to show Stacy that he’s worth taking a risk on?? There’s only one way to find out….

I have to say, I loved everything about this book. Seriously, Kaylee Ryan has knocked it out of the park with this one. This book is smart. It is funny. It is filled with angst. It is filled with swoon-worthy romance. It is just the book I needed.

From the moment you meet Cole and Stacy, you are hooked. You want to know more about them. You can feel the intense connection between the two of them. Nothing makes my heart swoon or pull me in to a story more, than watching the “bad boy” fall. And let me tell you, Cole certainly won my heart over. Yes, in the beginning, he is this cocky, full of himself bad boy. But, once you get to know him, the real him, you begin to see that there is more to him. Once he lets his guard down and opens himself up to the possibility of more, you can’t help but swoon over this guy. You see a totally different side to him. Sure he’s still cocky and sure of himself, but he’s also an alpha with a sweet side. He’s protective and has a big heart. I can not say it enough, watching him fall was just amazing!! And Stacy….Stacy was such an amazing match for Cole. She knew how Cole was and just accepted him for who he was. Yes, the connection between the two of them was undeniable, but she never pressured him for more. She never tried to change him. Without knowing it, she was showing Cole that you could be friends and hang out and enjoy each others company without sex. She slowly showed him that there was nothing wrong with more…

I don’t know what else to say other than I loved this book. It totally blew me away. This story was so well-written, so easy to get lost in. I just loved it all. And the characters….I LOVED THEM!! I loved catching up with Logan and Kacen. I loved seeing their HEA play out even more and I thought they were a great support system for Cole & Stacy. I also really enjoyed getting to hang out with the rest of the band and getting to know them more. And of course, I can’t forget about our main characters, Cole and Stacy. You already know how I feel about them. They were just amazing and impossible to not fall in love with. Their story just pulled at my heart and made me FEEL so many things. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them!

Assured is a fantastic addition to the Soul Serenade series. This book was everything and more. Cole and Stacy’s story warmed my heart and made me fall in love. I just adore this series and can not wait to see which band member will fall next!

Review: This One Moment (Pushing Limits #1) by Stina Lindenblatt

Posted on

Fame, fortune, and stadiums full of screaming fans are right around the corner for the rock band at the heart of Stina Lindenblatt’s steamy, intense Pushing Limits series. But it’s an epic love affair that steals the show in this opening act.

When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.

Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?

With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.

My Review

I have been a fan of Stina Lindenblatt for quite a while, so when I heard that she had something new in the works, I could not wait to get my hands on it. And then to find out she was writing a second chance romance with rockstars….Well, I just had to check it out. And I have to tell you, I’m really glad I did.

This One Moment is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Hailey and Nolan. Hailey and Nolan were BFF’s for as long as they could remember. So, it was no surprise when their feelings for one another turned in to more. However, the two of them were too afraid to admit their true feelings for one another for fear of rejection and ruining their friendship. So, unfortunately for Hailey and Nolan, they never got their chance to tell each other how they felt. One night had the power to change everything. Tragedy struck Nolan and that tragedy drove him away from home. It would be another 5 years before Nolan and Hailey were reunited…..Hailey was devastated when Nolan walked out her life. He was her best friend, but it was more than that. He was her everything. So, when Hailey wakes up in the hospital after a terrifying assault, she is surprised to find Nolan there. She’s unsure how to feel after all this time. Part of her wants to be angry, but the other part is still in love with him. Only time will tell if the past can be forgiven…..

Overall, I really enjoyed This One Moment. I am a sucker for a good second chance/ friends to lovers romance.  And nothing makes my heart swoon more than a musician. I was really intrigued by Hailey and Nolan. I wanted to know more about Nolan’s past and his reasoning for leaving Hailey behind. I thought the two of them had really good chemistry and I enjoyed watching the two of them try to navigate their way through their feelings.

This book does have a bit of mystery and suspense to it with a few surprises thrown in along the way. It was really interesting watching how everything played out and connected together. I think the Pushing Limits series is off to a really good start and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series will take us next.

Author: Micalea Smeltzer

Genre: New Adult

 Release Date: March 21, 2016

He was just a boy.
And I was just a girl.
But if that’s all there was to the story it wouldn’t be very interesting, would it?

Up and coming band Willow Creek is back in their hometown for the summer. For the drummer, Maddox Wade, this summer was meant for writing music and playing gigs.

Falling in love was not part of the plan.

One look at Emma Burke and those plans cease to matter.

Emma is quiet and guarded. She’s still hurt from her father walking out two years ago. She doesn’t want to trust Maddox, but with his dark hair, smoldering good looks, and infectious smile he’s impossible to resist.

Together Maddox and Emma embark on an unforgettable summer of adventures and first love.
Everything is perfect…or so Emma thinks.

There are things she doesn’t know, and when she finds out the truth it might shatter everything she’s built with Maddox.

No one said love was easy, and for Maddox and Emma it just might be impossible.

I’d never met anyone quite like Mathias Wade.
He was brooding and arrogant, but I loved him anyway.
Together we were wild and uncontained—a hurricane raging.
Then I had to leave, and words were exchanged that could never be undone.
But now I was back, and Mathias better watch out, because this bitch wasn’t finished with him.
Game. Set. Match.
All is fair in love and war, right?

Mathias Wade, the lead singer of Willow Creek, is used to getting everything he wants. Except for Remy Parker—the one that got away. Childhood friends that grew into more, Remy was the one constant in his life until she moved away. In anger, he lashed out and broke the only girl he ever loved. With temptation around every corner Mathias drowns his sorrow in women and alcohol. When the band returns to their hometown for the holidays the last thing Mathias expects is to run into Remy—but she’s back, and she’s not done with him.

Remy never forgot Mathias or the pain he caused her. When she moves back to the place she grew up to take care of her ailing grandma her heart is set on revenge. She’s determined to make Mathias fall in love with her all over again—only this time she’s going to break his heart.

But Mathias never stopped loving Remy—and she soon discovers that her feelings haven’t disappeared either.

Can two people too stubborn for their own good overcome their own demons and find the love they always deserved?

I thought I had found love.
I thought I had found my forever.
I’d never been more wrong in all my life.

Sadie Westbrook’s seemingly perfect life comes to a screeching halt when she catches her fiancé in bed with another woman. Suddenly, everything she believed in is tested and there’s only one person she can turn to—the guy who has been by her side ever since their best friend’s fell in love and became inseparable.

Ezra Collins—the bassist for the band Willow Creek—has only ever had one weakness, and her name is Sadie. When he receives a frantic call he rushes to her aid, helping to pick up the pieces of her crumbling life—even if that means letting Sadie live with him.

The close proximity tests the limits of their friendship and as the lines between friends and lovers blur they’ll have to decide if falling in love with your best friend is worth the risk of losing them.

I had life all figured out.
Married with a baby on the way I stupidly believed that things were perfect.
But then the good guy I fell in love with turned out to not be as good as I thought.
I was left alone to pick up the pieces of my life and provide for my daughter.
And then I met him.
The bad boy that just might not be so bad.

Three years after her husband walked out on her Arden James is struggling to make ends meet as a single mom. Despite it all, she knows she’s better off with her ex out of the picture, and so is her daughter.

Josh Hayes—player, jokester, and very naughty boy—is the guitar player for the band Willow Creek. He’s used to living the fast life, but suddenly it doesn’t appeal to him anymore, and he has his sights set on the fiery Arden.

Despite their undeniable chemistry, Arden isn’t sure she wants to invite a man into her life that has never been in a committed relationship before. But Hayes is determined to prove to her that there’s more to him than meets the eye. He just needs Arden to take a chance.

Review: Loud Is How I Love You (Hub City #1) by Mercy Brown

One girl’s heart gets rocked to the core in the first novel in this sexy New Adult series.

Twenty-one-year-old front girl Emmylou knows that getting her band noticed in the ‘90s indie rock scene will be no easy task. She definitely knows better than to break the number one rule of the band: Don’t sleep with your bandmates! But after she ends up having the best sex of her life with her guitarist, Travis, she finds following that rule is a lot harder than it sounds.

When the band gets the gig of their dreams, making it big seems just within reach. But Emmy’s inability to keep her hands off Travis threatens everything they’ve worked for. Can Emmy find a way to break the rules and not blow the chance of a lifetime?

My Review

Loud is how I love you

Loud is how I know you’re there

Stay loud so I don’t lose you

I will follow the sound of you anywhere

Loud Is How I Love You is the debut novel by author Mercy Brown, and I gotta tell you, she knocked it out of the park with this one. From the moment you pick up this book, you are pulled into the story of Emmy and Travis. Emmy has one goal and that is to have her band make it big. So, in order to accomplish that, she has one simple rule: Don’t sleep with the band. Too bad, following that rule isn’t so easy. You see, there’s always been a connection between Emmy and Travis, but they’ve never acted on it….until one night. You see this one night, they played an epic show and well, one thing led to another and suddenly Emmy and Travis find themselves having the best sex of their life. Emmy tries desperately to not make a big deal out of it, even though she knows Travis wants more. She tries to stay away, but she just can’t. Will Emmy and Travis make a go at something that has the potential to be amazing or will Emmy risk it all for the sake of the band and making it big?? There’s only one way to find out…

I have to say, I really enjoyed Loud Is How I Love You. I loved the story-line. I found it be a very refreshing take on a rock-n-roll romance. I thought the writing was smart and engaging. I liked the characters right away and found them easy to connect with. I loved the chemistry between Emmy and Travis. I thought they had great push and pull. Yes, I did want to either shake or slap Emmy a few times. She made some terrible decisions over her fear of ruining the band. But, she’s young, and I thought that it was a very honest take on her feelings and it made the journey to HEA, all that more better–in my opinion.

Loud Is How I Love is a fantastic debut novel. It gave me everything that I was looking for and more. The story is well paced and is full of angst, drama, and lots of sweet romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and can not wait to read more from this author in the future.

My Review

“Music could get me through anything. I couldn’t necessarily sing in tune, but I could mouth the shit out any song on the planet. I wasn’t a bad dancer either.”

Troublemaker is the 6th book in the Song Bird series, but can totally be read as a stand-alone. Troublemaker follows the story of Marcus and Kelly. Marcus has had an embarrassing crush on Kelly since high-school. But, Kelly has never seen him as more than a dorky looser. Kelly had no way of knowing that one day, her snotty ways would catch up to her. You see, it’s been 5 years since high-school and Kelly is seeking a job of her own; one that has nothing to do with her family’s legacy. The only catch; Marcus would be Kelly’s new boss. Despite their past, Kelly decides to take the job and hopes that the two of them can remain professional…..Marcus has come a long way since high-school and it seems almost as fate has finally given him the chance that he’s always wanted. However, Kelly has some tough walls that have to be broken. Marcus has to somehow show that he’s not the guy that he was in high-school and that he deserves a chance. Will Marcus finally get the chance he’s always wanted? Will his dream girl be worth all those years of pinning?

Overall, I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read. The characters were frustrating and entertaining at the same time. I will be first to admit that I really didn’t like Kelly. It took me a while to warm up to her. I didn’t like how snotty she was towards Marcus and for the life of me, couldn’t see what Marcus saw in her. That being said, she did eventually grow on me and I found myself rooting for her to give Marcus a chance. And once she did let her guard down, what she saw in Marcus was what she least expected!

Troublemaker is fun read, told from dual points of view. You can easily read it in one sitting. It has lots of funny moments and sweet romance. It has some drama, but not too much. I liked the message behind the story; to not let your past dictate your future, that people can change, that some people deserve the chance to prove that they are worth it.
