My Review

“Admitting you were afraid was one of the most difficult things to own up to as a human being. We were programmed to always say that we were fine or good–that showing fear is a sign of weakness. But it’s not. It’s one of the bravest things you can do to surrender that fear from yourself and place it into the open palms of someone else.”

Another amazing read!! Once again, Micalea Smeltzer has knocked my socks off. I fell in love with this series ever since I opened the first book. And with each book, the series just keeps getting better and better. I keep falling deeper and deeper in love with the characters. Take A Chance was no exception. Ever since I was first introduced to Hayes’ character, I’ve been dying to know more about him. This is his story.

Take A Chance follows the story of Arden and Hayes. Arden’s life has been anything but easy. She thought she had the perfect life, but she found out very quickly that her life was anything but. She never expected to find herself divorced, pregnant and alone. Fast forward three years and Arden finally is starting to move forward. She has a beautiful little girl and her life is good. Then she meets Hayes and he completely turns her world upside down. Hayes has the reputation of being a player and the type who just lives it up. However, looks can be pretty deceiving. From the moment Hayes laid eyes on Arden and her daughter, Mia, he has been captivated. He is addicted to them and wants to be a part of their life. Suddenly the bad boy is not wanting to be the bad boy anymore. Will Arden give Hayes the chance to prove that he is worth the risk? Take a chance on me, Arden. I know it might not seem like it, but I’m a sure bet.” What will happen when a ghost from Arden’s past won’t go away? Will Arden and Hayes get the HEA they both deserve?

I absolutely loved Take A Chance. I fell in love with Hayes and Arden almost immediately. I completely understood the reservations that Arden had about getting involved with Hayes. Not only did he have a bad reputation that she had to worry about, but she worried about how dating would affect her daughter. Arden is an unbelievably strong woman. I admired how she was able to do everything on her own and how she always put her daughter first. Hayes was the first guy to really peak her interest since her ex left the picture. I was intrigued by Hayes and Arden and couldn’t wait to see how things would play out.

Hayes was totally swoon worthy. With lines like these: “Those lips were made to kiss mine” or “That night with you…It was fucking amazing, but one night will never be enough with you. Hell, I’m not even sure the rest of my life would be enough time to get my fill of you.” I knew I was done for. I was completely addicted to Hayes. He was nothing like I thought he would be.Yes, he was young and acted silly. But he cared deeply for the people in his life and loved them fiercely.

I loved the chemistry and connection that Hayes and Arden shared. It was instant, but felt very real. Being together was effortless. You couldn’t help yourself from rooting for the two of them. And I absolutely loved the way that Hayes was with Mia. That right there was enough for me. I mean, he always treated Mia like she was his and loved her with every fiber of his being. It was truly special.

Take A Chance was such a fantastic read. I am so sad that this series is now over, but Micalea Smeltzer gave me the best possible ending. I loved everything about this book. I was hooked from the first page and had the hardest time putting it down. It gave me everything that I was looking for and more. And I have to tell you, I love, love, loved the epilogue. It was amazing and brought tears to my eyes. Fans of this series, you will not be disappointed with Hayes and Arden!

My Review

“Life is full of risks, and I have to risk my heart in order to reap the reward”

Emphatic follows the story of Logan and Kacen. Logan and her best friend Stacy just finished college. This was supposed to be one of the happiest times of her life. What she didn’t expect was to be breaking up with her boyfriend of 3 years. Logan’s friends tried to warn her about her ex’s ways, but she was blinded by love, until the truth was staring her in the face. What better way to get over her heartbreak, then by going on a vacation to Hawaii with her bestie. Logan has no plans but to just spend a relaxing week in Hawaii with her bff. When Logan and Stacy arrive in Hawaii, they plan to do just that; relax. That is until they meet their new neighbor. Logan isn’t looking for love, but Stacy convinces her that a fling might just be what she needs to move on….Kacen just needed a break from it all. After touring for months, Hawaii seemed like the perfect escape; until he met her. There was just something about Logan. She was unlike all the other girls and the best part, she didn’t even know he was famous. The week he spent with Logan was amazing. Now he’s returned home and ready to get to work. The last person he expected to see was Logan. Both of them try to keep things professional. But the pull is too hard to resist. Will the two of them give into temptation?

I love, love, loved the idea behind this story. I was pulled into this story from the very first page. I was captivated by “Michael” and “Paige”. The two of them shared such an intense connection over such a short period of time. I was so excited to see how things would play out with them. One of the things that I loved about them, was that both Kacen and Logan used their middle names while on vacation. They both were trying to be someone different, but no matter how hard they tried, their true selves couldn’t disappear….When I found out that Logan was going to be working for Kacen, I just knew it was going to be good. The chemistry between the two of them was intense and undeniable. I was just hooked. And Kacen, not only is he an alpha male, but boy does he know how to make you swoon. With lines like this: “I want there to be an us, you and me. I’m all in.”…”Say you want this. Tell me you feel this connection between us” or this From the moment I met her, there has been this….magnetic field that pulls me toward her. It’s not something I’ve ever experienced. It’s also hard to fight.” I just knew I was done for.

Emphatic was a really great read. It was well-written and captivating. I thought the story flowed really well. I love Rock Star Romances and Work Place Romances, so Kaylee Ryan combining the two, was a definite hit for me. I loved the characters. They were fun and entertaining. Even the secondary characters were a hit with me. I don’t know if this book is just planned to be a stand-alone or not, but there are definitely a few characters that I would love to know more about.

Kaylee Ryan has once again delivered a sweet, swoon worthy romance. She has given me lovable characters and an entertaining story that I did not want to put down. Emphatic is the perfect summer read. It is light on the drama and has just the right amount of romance and steam. If you are looking for a good summer read, I definitely recommend checking this one out!

shatteredbyyouWhat started out as a deal quickly became a friendship that conquered monsters.

I killed, but I escaped hell.
Emotionless. Disconnected. Cold. A mannequin. It’s what I’d become in order to survive the years held in captivity. I was able to endure the abuse and devastating loss as long as I remained detached.

But he wouldn’t let me.

Crisis, the bass guitarist in my brother’s rock band, Tear Asunder. He’s cocky, rude, a total man-whore. But the rock star has far more beneath the surface of his inked skin, and he’s determined to make me laugh again.
He made me a “deal”, but really, it was blackmail.
His terms were simple. Until his playful honesty became the building blocks to something unexpected. Something strong enough to pull me from the eye of the storm.

Because even though I escaped years of abuse, it didn’t mean I was free.

For mature audiences only.

Shattered by You is written as a standalone, however, it is recommended you read Book 1 and 2 in the Tear Asunder series.

My Review

“We all the know the definition of shattered: to break into pieces, to weaken, destroy; to damage as by breaking or crushing. But my story isn’t about being shattered. It’s about surviving the pieces. It’s about the strength found within the damaged. It’s about love. Love found despite the jagged edges of who I’d become.”

Shattered By You is Haven and Crisis’ story. To say that Haven has had a tough life would be a complete understatement. She has been through hell and back and somehow she has survived. She experienced things at such a young age, that no one and I mean no one should have to go through. Yes, she has survived, but she is hanging by a thread. Just trying to live one day at time. She just wants a chance to be normal. Something so simple, but she’s never had that. However, she’s not really moving on. She’s here, but she’s detached. Terrified to let people in. Not wanting to burden them with what she’s been through. Only Crisis isn’t having that…. Crisis loves being apart of Tear Asunder. He’s a lady’s man, he’s cocky and isn’t afraid to tell you like it is. He is the last thing that Haven needs….or maybe he’s exactly what she needs. Crisis is determined to break through Haven’s icy exterior. He is captivated by her and wants to bring her back to the land of the living. They were just supposed to be friends. They never planned on falling in love. The closer Crisis and Haven get, the more Haven’s walls break down. Crisis gives her something that she’s never had before: Freedom. Choice. He makes her want to live. But, will Haven ever truly be free from her past? And once Crisis finds out the depths of her demons, will he want to stick around?

This is one of those books that I want desperately to keep spoiler free. So, I’m just going to say this: Shattered By You takes you on one incredible journey. Haven’s story is not easy and it’s quite heartbreaking. Haven is so strong, but yet so vulnerable at the same time. I loved seeing a different side of Crisis. He was like a breath of fresh air to Haven. He didn’t hide behind a mask and say what he thought you wanted to hear. No, with Crisis there was only truth behind his words. I admired his strength and how he worked to help Haven. He wasn’t wasn’t afraid of her demons. He wasn’t going to let her go. This is one of those stories that you can easily loose yourself in. The characters are captivating, their stories-you will want to know. You will have a hard time putting this book down. I know I did.

Nashoda Rose was one of those authors that I took a chance on almost a year ago. And each time I pick up one of her books, I am so glad that I discovered her. Her writing forces you out of your comfort zone and makes you experience things you never thought you would. Her books are dark, the characters so broken. But she shows you that there is light after darkness. That bad things can happen to you and with the right support, you can overcome anything. If you haven’t checked out this series, I highly recommend that you do. Yes, like I said it may take you out of your normal realm of reading or your comfort zone, but this series is definitely worth checking out.

Excerpt

Haven

I woke up to my phone buzzing on the nightstand. I rolled over and put the pillow over my head. My leg muscles ached from my run last night, having pushed myself farther and longer than usual. The wind had been strong, trying to unhinge me with each step. I refused to give in. I’d win this fight. I’d kill the monsters. I’d watch them bleed until they no longer lived inside me.

But they did. My last few episodes proved that.

Buzz.

I sighed and tossed the pillow aside.

“Pick up your phone,” Crisis called through the door.

Oh, my God. “What are you doing outside my door?”

“Pick up your phone and find out.” I heard a thump on my door.

I reached over and snagged my phone.

Move it, Ice. We’re taking out the big tractor.

I scrolled.

Don’t ignore me, baby.

Third text.

I made coffee.

Fourth.

Okay, maybe not yet, but I will.

Fifth.

I’ll just sit outside your door until you get your ass out here.

I glanced at the time on the screen. Nine. “It’s Sunday. I’m going back to sleep,” I called, then tossed my phone aside and rolled over, tucking the sheet under my chin.

The door burst open and quickly shut again. Crisis leaned against it, his lips pushed together with that familiar crease between his eyes. “Our brother is a fuckin’ Terminator. I swear he has radar in his head that goes off every time I talk to you.”

My eyes narrowed in on him; he was so full of crap. “Crisis. Get out.” My brother wasn’t—

A light knock sounded on the door. “Sis?”

Shit. I sat up, making certain to keep the sheets covering me because I was wearing a pink silk negligee with skimpy spaghetti straps and it barely covered my breasts. Kat had bought it for me when I first came to live with them, along with a drawer full of panties and bras. She said, ‘every girl deserved to have beautiful negligee next to her skin.’ At first, I

balked, internally of course, wanting nothing to do with anything sexy. But after a few months feeling the soft silky material on my hands as I pushed them aside in my drawer . . . I tried one of them on.

I’d never had anything but cheap clothes, and the negligee felt nice against my skin. It made me feel . . . good about myself.

Crisis crossed his arms and I couldn’t stop from glancing at his tatted biceps. Then my gaze trailed down his hard muscled body to strong thighs clothed in worn jeans hanging low on his hips.

God, where was my head? It was too early in the morning and I was wavering under the sweet clenching between my legs and the whirl in my belly. He was a rock star, a hot rock star who was always on social media. Triple hard limit.

“Haven? I just saw your door close.”

I cleared my throat and gestured to Crisis to get away from the door before my brother barged in, saw him and jumped to conclusions. He pushed away and came straight for me, his eyes sparking a mischievous glow.

My brother knocked again. “We’re going to brunch today at Georgie and Deck’s. I’d really like you to come.”

Fine. Crisis wanted to play . . . he froze halfway toward the bed when I raised my brows and smiled. He shook his head back and forth and mouthed, “Don’t do it.”

“Yeah, come in,” I yelled.

Crisis dove for the bed, threw the duvet up in the air and landed flat on his stomach, the cover settling over him just as Ream strode in. I lay frozen beneath the covers, my heart racing, and a whoosh of blood charging through my veins. My breath hitched as warm heated air brushed across my bare thigh and goose bumps popped up along my skin.

Title: Wicked White

Author: Michelle A. Valentine

Release Date: June 23, 2015

Publisher: Montlake Romance

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Summary

After his mother dies, rock star Ace White—lead singer of the red-hot band Wicked White—is done with the celebrity game. The phony people, the meaningless one-night stands: he doesn’t want any of it anymore. Quitting in the middle of a sold-out tour, Ace sets out to find some place—any place—where he can be alone.

Aspiring singer Iris Easton’s life has never been easy. First, her mother walked out on her when she was a kid. Now she’s buried in debt, weeks after losing her beloved grandmother. When a mysterious and sexy new guy moves in next door, Iris can’t help but be drawn to his soulful gaze. She can tell there’s something from his past haunting him—something he’s not telling her.

Just as Ace starts falling for Iris, the media go on a worldwide hunt to find the missing rocker. Will true love conquer all, or will the truth be the very thing that tears the couple apart?

Excerpt

“Iris…that was amazing. You’ve got so much talent,” I praise.

Her green eyes light up with excitement like a child’s do on Christmas morning. “You really think so? You’re not just saying that?”

“No. I never bullshit about music. You’ve definitely got the chops for Broadway, it’s just…” I hesitate, not wanting to hurt her feelings, but I know that in order for her to get better, she has to be told what she’s doing wrong.

She lays her hand on my forearm. “Please, tell me. I can take it. Promise.”

I stand beside her, so close that my chest nearly touches her shoulder. I’m itching to touch her, but I won’t do it without permission. “May I touch you?”

She draws in a ragged breath and then nods. “Yes.”

I curl the fingers of my right hand around her right shoulder and pull back a little so that her posture is perpendicular to the floor. At this angle, I can’t help but notice her heaving chest and how her perky tits move in sync with each breath she takes.

I slide my left hand against her toned stomach and my pinkie grazes the warm patch of skin that’s exposed between her T-shirt and the waistband of her jeans.

Our contact is fucking electric, and my own breathing picks up speed as I attempt to fight back the arousal I feel for her boiling beneath my surface.

“Everything about you is magnetic,” I whisper in her ear, and she shivers at the words. “Don’t be afraid to open your eyes and watch your audience enjoy you. Be confident and project. Let go.”

I let go of her shoulder, and move to face her before pressing the repeat button on the machine. As the intro of the song plays, I say, “Do it again, but this time I want you to look at me.”

This time when she opens her mouth to sing, when she begins to tip her head down, I slide my index finger under her chin and angle her head so that she’s forced to peer into my eyes.

Her words are just barely above a whisper, so I slip my hand back on her abdomen and say, “Project–from here. Sing it like you mean it.”

It’s like lightening strikes this beautiful woman in my arms as she sings to me without fear. The words of the song come out effortlessly, and her voice could rival any of the greatest female vocalists of all time.

She’s that damn stunning.

I nod approvingly and smile. “Yes!”

With that little bit of encouragement, she shocks me even more when she pushes herself to hit notes that are above and beyond what she reached the first time.

Only on the last lyric does she close her eyes while she holds the note there until the music stops. She releases a contented sigh as soon as the music ends, and when her beautiful eyes meet mine again, they swirl with emotion.

Completely blown away, I fumble with the words to tell her just how impressed I am. “Iris, that was–”

Without warning, she throws her arms around my neck and crushes her lips against mine. I know kissing her back is wrong, but I’ll be damned if I don’t want her so badly at this point that I can’t stop myself from giving in. I’ve been so good with restraining myself when it comes to Iris, because protecting her from the chaos that I’ll bring her is what’s always been on the forefront of my mind.

Her fingers thrust into my hair, and I reach down and curl my hands around her thighs before hoisting her into the air. Instinctively she wraps her legs around my waist, and I thread one of my hands into her tousled curls while the other is busy cupping that perfect ass of hers.

“I’ve wanted you since you walked into my trailer,” she breathes against my lips.

A thrill shoots through me at her admission of how long she’s wanted me. “You’ve been driving me out of my mind from the moment I first saw you.”

“Then take me.”

My Review

Wicked White was such a fun read. Wicked White follows the story of Ace and Iris. Ace is the lead singer for the bad the Wicked White. He should be livin’ it up and loving his life. However, that’s not the case. Being a celebrity is not all that it’s cracked up to be and that fact is even more real to him when he looses his mom. When the people that he works with could care less about his loss, Ace makes an important, but drastic decision to leave it all behind.

Iris has always known she was meant for more and is trying to live her dream of becoming a broadway singer. However, her life has been anything but easy. Just when she thinks it can’t get any worse, she is faced with the loss of her grandmother. Her grandmother is the only “mother” she’s ever known. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also left with her grandmother’s debt. Iris drops everything to return to the only home she’s ever known, and try to save her grandma’s dream. The only silver lining to all of this is when Ace blows into town. There’s just something about this mysterious stranger. Iris can tell that Ace is hiding something, but won’t push him for answers he’s not ready to give. What will happen when the truth comes out?

I really enjoyed the Wicked White. It was a quick and easy read for me. I found the story-line to be very entertaining and loved getting lost in the characters. I loved Iris. She was such a strong female lead. She not only showed great strength and a protective side, but also wasn’t afraid to let Ace see the real her. And Ace….try as he might to be a jerk and push Iris away, that just wasn’t him. I loved that he wasn’t your typical jerk rock star. Don’t get me wrong, he had his moments, but it was nice to see him as a good guy with alpha tendencies. I loved just watching the two of them together. They just gravitated towards one another and I loved their push and pull.

Told from dual points of view, Wicked White is a sweet, refreshing take on the rocker romance. I liked that there wasn’t any crazy, over the top drama that you sometimes see with this type of story. It had just the right amount of angst/drama and romance that I was looking for.

My Review

Beat follows the story of Flynn, Dylan and Lucky. Lucky is dating Dylan. Lucky has had a crush on rocker Dylan, since she was 15 years old. She’s living the dream that every girl fantasizes of. And while she enjoys being with Dylan, they really haven’t spent a lot of time together because of all the touring he does…. Flynn is supposed to be the opening act for Dylan’s band. That is until one day he gets asked to fill in for one of Dylan’s singers. Doesn’t sound too complicated, right? WRONG! See, Flynn is drawn to Lucky. Even though he knows that Lucky is off limits and dating Dylan, there is just something about her. He can’t help himself from wanting to get to know her and to just be in her life any way that he can… Flynn confuses Lucky. She thought she had everything she wanted, everything she needed. But, she never really looked to the future until she met Flynn. The more time the two of them spend together, the more complicated things start to get. It also doesn’t help that fate has decided to throw the three of them one more curve ball… The three of them. One tour bus. On tour together. Things are about to get really ugly…

Normally, I’m not a fan of love triangles and cheating. In fact, I usually loathe them. I can probably name only two books that have had love triangles that haven’t been an issue for me. But, since I really like Vi Keeland’s work, I figured I would give it a try. And I have to say, I thought this one worked pretty good. I was 100% sold on Dylan. Don’t get me wrong, he did have some likable moments. That being said, there was just something about him that always bothered me. Maybe it was because he was a little too possessive towards Lucky or how he was so conceited, he couldn’t even handle sharing the spotlight with his band members. Or how he acts like Lucky is the only woman for him, but yet, something about that statement just doesn’t feel right. Where as Flynn felt like a breath of fresh air. Yes, he wanted Lucky. But he wanted to support her and care for her, not possess her. Things just felt more relaxed and natural between the two of them. In my opinion, it was pretty clear who Lucky should be with. But, it was definitely fun seeing just how everything would play out.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a quick and easy read. The characters were for the most part: likable, fun and entertaining. I really enjoyed the secondary characters. I think Lucky’s friend Avery brought a lot to the story and I wouldn’t object to seeing more of her character in the future.

Beat definitely held my interest. It was well written and there was never a dull moment. There was a good balance of angst and drama. I liked the push and pull. Beat made me laugh, smile, it frustrated me and made me swoon. Even though I’m still not a fan of love triangles, I can appreciate the struggles the characters went through on their journey to HEA. I loved the ending of the story. It wrapped up everything perfectly and left me with a smile on my face.

Excerpt

Getting through Flynn singing is incredibly hard.  The way his throat moves, the way his mouth caresses each syllable of the low, raspy sound that falls from his lips.  I should be watching his posture, his breathing, the way his larynx forces out the words—but instead I’m focused on the beauty of his mouth and how the sound of his voice glides over my body, making it feel both warm and tingly at the same time.  I’m lost when the song finishes, yet I haven’t really observed him yet.

“So.  Give it to me straight.  What am I doing wrong?”

Ummm…absolutely nothing from what I can see.  Everything was perfect.  Don’t change a thing.  Shit.  “Could you do it again?  Maybe a different song, one you haven’t sung in a while.  So the sounds are less familiar to your body.  Sometimes that can give me a different view.”  At least I make it sound like a real thing when the words come out.

He sings again, and this time I force myself to observe.  “Hmm…your posture is great.  Most people have a tendency to favor one side of their neck, which makes them tilt a bit when they speak, and it becomes magnified when they sing, which puts strain on the muscles around the vocal cords.  Your alignment is perfect.”

“Thank you, it goes with the rest of my perfectness,” he says with a teasing arrogance that, from the little I know about him, I know isn’t real.

“You didn’t let me finish.”

“You can’t now tell me I’m not perfect.  I was already basking in the glow.”

“Actually, it was perfect…but almost a little too perfect.  Which makes me think you don’t usually stand this way when you sing.”

“It isn’t the way I normally sing.  On stage, I usually have a guitar over my shoulder.  Even if I’m not playing it, it’s there.”

“Well, I need to see you holding your instrument to assess you fully, then.”

Flynn’s eyebrows quirk up and the dirty grin on his face is unmistakable.

“The guitar.  I’d need to see you holding the guitar.”

“That’s a shame.”  He shrugs, the playful smile still on his face.  “But okay.  It’s your call.  Whatever instrument you want to see me hold is fine with me.”

“How big of you.”

“So now we’re talking about the other instrument again?”

I roll my eyes, although this conversation is having more of an effect on me than I let on.

 Excerpt

I looked up at the sky and the birds flying above us. “I feel like I don’t know who I am anymore. I spent two years with a guy that stripped me of my identity. I feel like all I have of myself is my store and the rest I’m left questioning. I tried so hard to please him, to make him happy, and in the end I made myself miserable. I was just so desperate for it to work out that I overlooked how toxic our relationship was. How stupid is that?”

“You’re human,” he replied. “We have this inane desire to belong to something that is greater than we are on our own. That desire is so strong that we can fool ourselves into believing things that aren’t true.”

“So, I’m not crazy?” I cracked a smile.

“Definitely not crazy.”

His smile was comforting and I reminded myself for the hundredth time that everything would be okay.

I rested my head on his shoulder and a moment later his head rested on top of mine.

A smile touched my lips.

I’d missed this—having someone that understood me completely, even when I didn’t know myself.

Title: Never Too Late
Series: Willow Creek #2
Author: Micalea Smeltzer
Release Date: April 21, 2015

Synopsis

I’d never met anyone quite like Mathias Wade.

He was brooding and arrogant, but I loved him anyway.

Together we were wild and uncontained—a hurricane raging.

Then I had to leave, and words were exchanged that could never be undone.

But now I was back, and Mathias better watch out, because this bitch wasn’t finished with him.

Game. Set. Match.

All is fair in love and war, right?

Mathias Wade, the lead singer of Willow Creek, is used to getting everything he wants. Except for Remy Parker—the one that got away. Childhood friends that grew into more, Remy was the one constant in his life until she moved away. In anger, he lashed out and broke the only girl he ever loved. With temptation around every corner Mathias drowns his sorrow in women and alcohol. When the band returns to their hometown for the holidays the last thing Mathias expects is to run into Remy—but she’s back, and she’s not done with him.

Remy never forgot Mathias or the pain he caused her. When she moves back to the place she grew up to take care of her ailing grandma her heart is set on revenge. She’s determined to make Mathias fall in love with her all over again—only this time she’s going to break his heart.

But Mathias never stopped loving Remy—and she soon discovers that her feelings haven’t disappeared either.

Can two people too stubborn for their own good overcome their own demons and find the love they always deserved?

My Review

“We’re too much alike. Both of us like fire–loud, all consuming, and willing to burn anything that got in our way”

I love, love, loved this book! What a great second chance romance! Never Too Late is Remy and Mathias’ story. Remy and Mathias have known each other for a long time. They fell in love at a young age and Remy is probably one of the only people who truly knows the real Mathias. Everything would be ok as long as they were together. Then, one fateful day, Remy tells Mathias that she has to move. To say that Mathias took this badly would be a total understatement. Unable to deal with what Remy told him, Mathias broke Remy in the worst way possible.

Now, seven years later, the two them are reunited. At first, Remy wants to break Mathias just as he did all those years ago. However, the more time she spends with Mathias, the more she realizes that she still loves him and could never hurt him that way. Can Remy and Mathias let go of the past? Will they be able to get past their own demons and finally get the happily ever after they both deserve?

I really loved Remy and Mathias. I have been curious about Mathias since meeting him in Last To Know. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Many people see Mathias as an asshole, a broody jerk. Someone who is hard and doesn’t smile and is always getting into trouble. But there’s a side to him that no one sees. A sweet, romantic guy is there hiding under the surface and only Remy has the power to bring that out in him. The chemistry between Remy and Mathias was undeniable. They were a force to be reckoned with. I loved watching the two them interact, their banter, the way their personalities fit each other. I loved watching the two of them grow. Yes, they messed up. Yes, they had things that broke them. But to see how far the two of them came and how they fought for their relationship, was just amazing.

To say I enjoyed this book would be a complete understatement. I loved everything about this book. I was hooked on Mathias and Remy’s story from the first page. The story-line was well written and captivating. I completely devoured this book. Micalea Smeltzer really knocked it out of the park with this one. There is just something about her characters and her writing that just pulls me in. Never Too Late is an amazing second chance romance.  It’s filled with all the things I love in a great romance: angst, drama, misunderstandings, steam,, heartbreak and of course romance. I couldn’t get enough of this story and the characters and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!!

 Excerpt

I jumped up on the counter and he moved to stand in front of me, bracing his hands beside my hips. I kicked my legs against the cabinets like a little kid as he stared down at me intensely. I wasn’t sure what he was looking for in my eyes, but he must have found it, because he cupped my cheek and leaned in.

“This feels like when we were younger,” he whispered. “Like no time at all has passed.” His words echoed my previous thoughts.

I closed my eyes, feeling his breath fan across my lips.

God, I’d missed him.

It didn’t seem possible to miss someone I’d grown to hate, but I did.

I was pretty sure that when someone like Mathias came into your life they were impossible to forget.

He was like the sun, burning so bright that even once he was gone I was still blinded.

“Did you ever miss me?” I asked. “Even once?” I held my breath, waiting for him to explode—because that was Mathias. He could be nice one minute and an asshole the next. I wouldn’t put it past him to kick me out for my question.

Instead he surprised me by leaning in impossibly closer and nuzzling my neck. “Always.”
