My Review

Inked on Paper was such a fun read. I loved the feel to the story. It has a totally different vibe from the books that I’ve read by Nicole Edwards. That being said, you can still count on Nicole Edwards to provide you with lots of sexy, steamy good times.

Inked on Paper follows the story of Jake and Presley. Jake is a famous writer who was pretty much on top of the world until a family situation forced him to return home. While he was able to sort things out back home and make a new life there for himself, somewhere along the way, he lost his creativity. He had writers block to the max. No matter what he tried, he just couldn’t find the words to create book magic. That is until he meets his new neighbor, Presley. From the moment he sees Presley, he is completely captivated by her. From her eccentric hair, piercings and tattoos, Jake can’t get her out of his mind. And it’s those thoughts that give Jake inspiration to write again. Presley has unknowingly become his muse. And the more time Jake spends around Presley, the harder it is to fight his undeniable attraction to her. But, getting close to Presley is anything but easy. Presley has been burned in the past and her walls are up high. Will Jake be able to break down Presley’s walls and show her how amazing real love can be??

Inked on Paper was a fun read for me. I loved the idea of this story. It pulled me in from the very first page. I loved the chemistry between Jake and Presley. I thought they shared a scorching connection and I couldn’t get enough of the two of them together. I was intrigued by Presley and wanted to know more about her. I thought her roommates were very entertaining and just couldn’t help but laugh at their antics. I was constantly shaking my head at them. I really enjoyed being inside Jake’s head. It was really interesting getting a writers prospective on things and the whole writing process.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I found it be a really entertaining read. This story was fun and sexy. I loved the characters and their story. I loved that this story didn’t have a whole lot of drama. Inked on Paper is an exciting new stand-alone from Nicole Edwards. Even though I do know this is a stand-alone, there are a few characters that have caught my interest and I have to say, I wouldn’t be disappointed to read more about these characters.

From Inked on Paper
Jake
One week later, Saturday night

By the time seven o’clock rolled around, I was going stir crazy. My total word count for the entire week was a big fat fucking zero. And like I’d assured Liz when I talked to her on Wednesday, I had tried. Really.

Okay, mostly.

After I’d spent two hours at the coffee shop that morning and managed to research everything from tattoos to tater tots—on my phone, because, fuck, what the hell else was I going to do?—I’d come back to my condo, changed, gone to the gym, watched the midday news, showered, and fought the urge to clean more shit around the house that had no business being cleaned. Not by me, at least.

Same shit I’d done almost every day this week. And last week, now that I thought about it.

Now that the sun was down and the night was coming to life, I needed to get out of the building. To do something productive that didn’t involve staring at a blank screen or a blank page and wondering whether or not I would ever be able to write anything again.

So, that was the plan.

A night out.

I had moved to downtown Austin for the scenery. I’d lived in the area most of my life— with the exception of the five years I’d spent in New York—having grown up twenty-something miles north in the city of Round Rock. The suburban life had worked well for my mom and stepdads (all nine of them)—still did—but I needed something a little more … lively. My sister, Paige, thought I was having a midlife crisis. At thirty-six, I seriously doubted that. I was reserving that for when I turned forty.

As I was riding the elevator down to the lobby, my cell phone rang. After digging it out of my pocket, I glanced at the screen and sighed.

Liz.

Great. It was eight o’clock in New York—on a Saturday, no less—where she lived and worked, so I knew this wasn’t going to be a hi, how are you? conversation. I answered anyway.

“Jacob Wild, where the hell are you?” Her raspy, take-no-shit tone made me smile.

“Elevator, why?” I asked, pretending I didn’t know what she meant.

“Where have you been?”

“Before I got in the elevator? Well, if you have to know, I was walking down the hall.”

My editor growled. Actually growled. And it wasn’t one of those sexy purring things that some women did. This was an all-out Gremlin sort of sound that made me want to laugh. I refrained. Barely.

“You should be at your desk.”

“Why?” I stepped off the elevator into the lobby. “Nothing going on there at the moment.”

My comment was met with silence, and I could picture Liz standing in the middle of her Manhattan apartment, hand fisted in her short blonde hair as she stared at the phone in disbelief.

Truth was, I liked Liz. She was one of the top editors in the publishing industry, and she always played me straight. After I had self-published my first book and it had done surprisingly well, and after my agent had landed me my first seven-figure, three-book deal, I had been working with Liz directly. I’d liked her so much, and my books had done so well with her help that I’d even signed another contract, for another three books—with, get this, an eight-figure advance.

Which, I knew, was the reason she was calling.

That was a lot of money to invest in someone, and the first book was due to her in roughly thirty days, and she’d come to expect me to be ahead of the game, as I’d frequently turned in my first draft manuscript way early. It probably hadn’t helped that I’d asked for an extension this go-round—a three-month extension.

“Where’s my book?” she demanded. “I was looking forward to spending the weekend reading your stuff, enjoying a bottle of wine, and now I have no choice but to go to that stupid gala.”

I barked a laugh. I couldn’t remember what it was she was doing, but I recalled her mentioning it had something to do with her husband’s public relations firm. From what Liz told me, she did not enjoy getting dressed up and going out. But I’d known her long enough that I recognized the lie for what it was. She did enjoy it; she simply didn’t want anyone to know she did.

“I’ve still got a month,” I told her as I stepped out of the building, the cold wind slamming into me.

There was a brief pause before she said, “Tell me when I can schedule an interview. Your fans want to know what the hell happened to you.”

“You know I don’t do interviews,” I told her. That had been a point of contention between us from the beginning. I’d been called reclusive and mysterious, but the truth was, I didn’t like being in the public eye. I just wanted to write.

“You’re going to have to give in sometime,” she said. “Seriously. The media fucking loves you. They want to see your face.”

“Liz, shouldn’t you be getting ready for your thing?” I asked, purposely changing the subject.

Liz huffed. “What’s the book about? At least tell me that much.”

I should’ve known she wouldn’t let it go. I sighed. “I will, just as soon as I know.”

More silence before she said, “Jacob.” Her tone was admonishing and I understood her pain.

“I’m looking for my muse,” I assured her.

“Your muse? What the hell are you talking about? We agreed—”

Before she could go off on a tangent—something Liz was really good at—I interrupted her. “Don’t worry. I haven’t let you down yet, have I?”

Another growl. This time I did laugh.

“Fine. But next time I call you, you better answer the damn phone.”

“I did answer the phone.” Just not the first twenty-two times she’d called since yesterday morning. “Talk to you later, Liz.”

Review: Wicked Lust by Sawyer Bennett

wickedlust

Cain Bonham is as big and bad as they come. After serving in the Marines, he’s returned home to Wyoming and now works as head of security at the exclusive sex club, The Wicked Horse. His job is to protect not only the patrons, but to zealously guard the secret existence of the club itself.

Sloane Preston is all about discovering secrets. As an undercover reporter, she’s determined to reveal the truth behind the facade of The Wicked Horse and expose it for all the world to see. She just didn’t count on her pathway into the club coming at the hands of one gorgeously scarred and bad ass bouncer who manages to easily possess her body and soul.

While Cain’s not looking for anyone to catch his eye, Sloane did it all the same, and he’s not bemoaning the fact that she’s as wickedly kinky as he is. As both get caught up in the sinful fantasies that only The Wicked Horse can create, secrets and loyalties will be tested and hearts will risk being broken.

**Warning: this book has sex in it. Lots of sex. Dirty sex. The Wicked Horse Series is a bit different than what Sawyer Bennett normally writes. While you’ll still enjoy fabulous characters, a suspenseful story, some witty banter and an epic romance, there’s just… a lot of sex. You’ve been warned.

My Review

Hot. Sexy. Sinful. Downright Entertaining. That is exactly what you get with Wicked Lust. If you’ve read Wicked Fall, then you have a little taste for just how sexy this new series by Sawyer Bennett is. But, I gotta tell you, Wicked Lust completely kicks up the steam and kink factor. This book does come with a warning label and I gotta tell you, this book is off the charts sexy, so reader, you have been warned!!

Wicked Lust captivates you from the very first page. It sucks you and keeps you entertained the entire time. The characters are extremely well written and you can’t help but find yourself intrigued by them. The characters, while their tales are scorching, they are so very real and have flaws just like everyone else. And I love that even though this story is filled with lots of delicious sex, there is also a real story there!

Wicked Lust is a fantastic addition to The Wicked Horse series. It’s fast paced and filled with lots of humor, entertaining banter, characters that you can’t help but want to know more about and of course, sexy good times. And of course, true to Sawyer Bennett fashion, she gave us a little taste of what we can expect in the next story and I can’t wait to see where she will take us next!

My Review

“He’s like this beautiful balance of dark and light, dirty and decent, and he seems to know exactly when to be one and when to give me the other.”

Yowza! This book was hot! I mean, hold your breathe, sexy. The pages just oozing with deliciousness. Sweet Obsession was the perfect naughty read. From filthy, dirty talking Australian goodness to one bold, take charge of what she wants American. This book has the perfect recipe for an addictive read. And that’s exactly what this book was. From the moment I read the first page, I was hooked. I instantly fell in love with Brooke. Brooke is a woman who is not afraid to go after what she wants. She’s bold and feisty and just overall someone I want to know better. Mason brings out a side of Brooke that she didn’t know existed. Mason is sex personified and although he wants Brooke something fierce, he wants more than just a one-night stand. So, if Brooke wants to be with Mason, she’s got to play by his rules. And his rules will prove to be more dangerous than Brooke ever thought possible.

I have to say, I fell for Brooke and Mason pretty fast. Not only were they awesome characters, but the chemistry between the two of them is just electric. I quickly became addicted. I couldn’t read the pages fast enough. But, it wasn’t just the sexy times that I loved. It was everything about the two of them. It was so easy to get caught up in their story and the insecurities these two characters faced. I could just read about them for hours!

Sweet Obsession is the third book in the Sweet Addiction series, but can totally be read as a stand-alone. In fact, this is the first book in this series that I’ve read and I now see that I have been clearly missing out. I quickly became obsessed with Sweet Obsession. I devoured each word, right to the very end. This book gave me everything I was looking for and more. It was well written, perfectly paced, and had just the right amount of angst, romance, and naughtiness! I just loved everything about this book and can not wait to read more from J. Daniels!

UP IN SMOKE TEASER FOR REVEAL 2

My Review

Wow! Just wow! No one does dirty talking alphas quite like Tessa Bailey. This book takes scorching hot to a whole other level!

Up In Smoke follows the story of Erin and Connor. Dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALS, Connor finds himself working undercover in Chicago, trying to bust criminals. He will soon find that his control will be tested in ways that he’s unprepared for.

Erin is nothing like she appears to be. She always appears to be running and she hates authority. Not to mention, she also has a fear of being confined and always needs to be in control. The last thing she ever dreamed of was being involved with someone who needs control as much as the air he breathes. Will Erin be able to open up and face her fears? Will Erin ever be able to give Connor what he needs? Will the truth of what haunts Erin tear them apart?

You know, I’m just going to keep this review short and sweet. This is one of those books that speaks for it’s self. It’s fast paced. It’s hot. It’s sexy. And it’s got one dirty talking, possessive, dominate, alpha male. The characters are fun and the story line is entertaining. The characters have instant and electric chemistry. I liked that there was lots of sexy times in this book. That being said, I also really enjoyed the suspense and mystery factor to the story.

If you’re looking for a quick, hot, easy read, than look no forward. Tessa Bailey does not disappoint.

Excerpt

Connor broke away, allowing them both to suck in oxygen. “Stay. I’m sorry. Stay.” He bent his knees to bring them eye to eye. His spoke of torture, but he was trying to hide it. “Look at me. I can handle this. I want you here. Don’t leave.”

“I don’t know if I can handle it,” she whispered.

His heavy breaths ceased. “What do you mean?”

She drew out a lighter from her back pocket and ignited the flame. It cleared her head a little, allowing her to search for the right words. Words that wouldn’t sound crazy. “I like touching you. It makes me feel really…good. And there isn’t a whole lot that makes me feel good, you know?” Her throat closed up. “I wish you could touch me, too. I don’t think I can stay here knowing I’m hurting you by making myself feel good…and I don’t think I can stop touching you. It feels like a must.”

A flare of panic flashed across his face. “I shouldn’t have said what I did earlier. You just caught me off guard.” He massaged his forehead with four fingers. “Did I scare you? Is that why you’re really leaving?”

“No.” She shook her head. “No.”

“Okay. Jesus. Okay.” He was silent a moment, but gears were turning behind his eyes. “You need to touch me and I need you to stay. Let’s give each other what we need. All right?”

Why was this so damn confusing? She’d only met this man yesterday and they were already tangled up in her web of fucked-up issues. He should want to be clear of her, shouldn’t he? No one else had ever bothered with her this long before. “Why? Why do you need me to stay? I—”

“I won’t rest,” he growled. “I’ll think about you somewhere, scared like you were last night, and I’ll go fucking crazy.”

Her heart lurched, dislodging her pride. “I’ve been taking care of myself for a long time. If the only reason you want me here is to play nursemaid to the crazy girl, that’s not going to work for me.”

“You know there’s more to it. You know.” He visibly centered himself with a deep breath, appearing to debate with himself. “I’ve got my own skeletons, Erin. They don’t rattle so much when you’re around. Your touching me…it makes me hot. But it soothes elsewhere.”

She knew her expression was pathetically hopeful, but couldn’t find a single shit to give. “Yeah?”

“Yeah,” he repeated. “I’m not going to lie, Erin. Yes, I want to sleep with you like hell. But only if it’s healthy. Would you trust me enough to go slow? A little at a time?”

Her pulse hammered out of control. “You touching me?”

Connor watched her closely. “When you’re ready. Not before. Never before.”

This is where she should climb down the fire escape and vamoose toward the street. A weight pressed down on her rib cage, making it difficult to draw a breath. It felt like the point of no return. But Connor’s eyes grounded her.

Safe. He’s safe

“Okay, baby. Slow.”

His body drained of tension. “Thank you.” He leaned in and brushed their lips together, gently, reverently. “First, we talk.”     UP IN SMOKE TEASER FOR REVEALAbout the Author:

Thank you for your interest in my books! I’m Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I’ve decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.

I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I’m still finding it, little by little.Thank you for being a part of it.

Book Review – Maybe by Amber L. Johnson

Posted on

I am always keen on an ARC of an Amber L. Johnson book. Keen as a bean. Amber L. Johnson has a knack for writing characters that I LOVE. Always different, always interesting, you won’t find any same/same in any of her books. Maybe was told in true ALJ style – original, engaging, heart melting.

Letting go is hard. Admitting you need each other is harder.

Emily Portman loves her job. A writer for Breakout! Magazine, she shadows and showcases up-and-coming bands. When her next assignment takes her to Austin, Texas, she can’t wait to add the city to her map of places she’s visited. Places she’s left without looking back. Her plan is to keep moving on, and the last thing she needs is a man holding her back. She’s not going down that road again.

Tyler Macy is stuck in a rut. Despite his exceptional talent as a musician, he has chosen to take a back seat with his music and let others grab the limelight. Wounded and mistrustful, he doesn’t appreciate his friends’ efforts to bring him back to center stage. Emily comes onto the scene and sees his full potential, but he fights to stay in the shadows, shutting her out before she can add to the scars another woman gave him.

For Tyler to find his music again, he needs to accept the help that Emily and their friends offer. When he discovers that his muse lies underneath Emily’s skin, it is still not enough to keep her from walking away. Neither will admit what they really want until it is too late.

Emily is once again thrown in Tyler’s path when she is assigned to join them on tour. Despite the pain in his past, Tyler sees that she is worth it, even if she’s stolen both his heart and peace of mind. In order for them to be together, they both must discover whether the music and their passion are enough to overcome the obstacles that separate them.

Maybe finding love is worth the risk.

Maybe is a little different to the other books I have read by Amber L. Johnson, but the common theme among theme is a very sweet, very real love. Her stories tend to be low on angst and high on quality content. All too often it’s easy to get so caught up in the angst between two character that their real story and true personalities get lost amongst the drama. This is not the case at all in Maybe. Both characters had depth and charisma that kept the reader fully engaged in their story. However, I loved Emily and Tyler so much I wouldn’t have minded having a little more back story on them, and on Emily in particular. I felt like there was room to get to know her just a little more.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that Maybe took me a little longer than usual to get into BUT it’s entirely possible (and, in fact, probable) that this was a ‘me’ thing and not an ‘it’ thing. Once my full attention was captured there was no putting this book down.

Once again Amber L. Johnson has proved herself to be one of my favorites. BOOM! Bring on the next ALJ .book!

EXCERPT

I scanned the room as I walked through the door. Checked my watch, four minutes after ten. No sign of Carter yet. I knew the restaurant shut down at nine-thirty that night. He probably wasn’t done closing the kitchen down. I made my way over to an empty barstool and sat down.

“Hey, Hannah!” Myles, my favorite bartender, shouted over the music coming from the in-house deejay. “What can I getcha?”

“Hi, Myles,” I smiled. “I’ll think I’ll have a rum and diet tonight.”

He quickly went to work mixing up my drink. Myles was probably the nicest guy who worked at the hotel. He was average height and build. His hipster style suited him so well. Tonight he was wearing a pair of straight-legged black jeans, a pair of black converse tennis shoes, a vintage AC/DC T-shirt with his signature thick-framed black glasses. His thick, brown hair was styled in his just-got-out-of-bed way, which could be described as perfected chaos. He placed my drink down in front of me and started wiping down the bar with the towel he had tossed over his shoulder. “Want me to run this on your tab?”

Before I could answer, a twenty-dollar bill appeared next to I drink. “I’ve got it.”

I assumed it was Carter, but was surprised when I looked over my shoulder to see Trent standing there.

“Sure thing, Mr. Crawford.” Myles took the cash and made his way towards the cash register.

“I can buy my own drink,” I interjected, placing my clutch on the top of the bar. “Here Myles,” I started to hand him my own twenty-dollar bill, when Trent held up his hand.

“I know you that you can afford your own drinks, Hannah,” he said waving Myles off. “Keep the change. And call me Trent,” he said, as they exchanged courteous nods. He turned his attention back to me. “Consider this a peace offering.” He clinked his beer bottle against my glass.

“It’s going to take more than just a drink,” I scoffed, pulling my glass to my lips. After the way he’d embarrassed me in front of the board, he could have shown up with a truck load of Bacardi and I still would have been pissed.

“Sorry for being a dick today. That was not at all the way I wanted you to find out that I was interested in running the hotel.”

“It was a pretty shitty way for me to find out. You could have said something last night.”

“I know,” he agreed. “It’s just…my family has a really complicated way of doing things.”

“I’m well aware,” I reassured him. I may have been young when the drama with Damien happened, but I’d heard enough over the years that ‘easy’ and ‘breezy’ were not words that were often associated with the Crawford name. “What I’d really like to know is why you have a sudden interest in running this hotel at all? You haven’t been here for years.”

My Review

This book is exactly why I LOVE serials!! I am a big, big fan of serial series’, so when I heard Elizabeth Lee was writing one, I couldn’t have been more excited. And man, was I blown away!!!

Spend The Night follows the story of Hannah Wellesley.  Her entire life has been spent in her family’s hotel and she’s devoted her life to it. One of her biggest events of the year is the hotel’s masquerade gala. But this years gala will be unlike any before. A chance encounter with a masked stranger during a blackout will turn her entire world upside down. Now, eight months later, Hannah finds herself still thinking of her masked stranger. She’s clinging to the hope that he will walk back into her life. When Hannah finally decides to try to move on, her fate takes an interesting turn. Suddenly her career is looking more promising than ever and now she’s got two handsome men fighting for her attention. But, both men appear to have motives of their own…….

I was so intrigued by this story from the first page. I loved the steam and scorching chemistry between Hannah and her mysterious stranger. I loved the little bread crumb of clues that were left along the way and I am completely intrigued by who “HIM” is. This is definitely one of those stories that will have on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next!

Spend The Night is a fantastic start to this series! This story will pull you in and completely captivate you, leaving you breathless and wanting more. I loved the mystery, suspense and intrigue that surrounded the story. The chemistry between the characters are off the charts and will have you questioning what their real motives are. I for one can not wait to get my hands on the next episode!!

About The Author

Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.

Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany… I should write a book. And I did it!

If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.

Book Review: Crashing Down by Cathryn Fox

When reckless meets responsible… Straight A student Kathryn Lane is all work and no play. She’s determined to keep her scholarship, and that means no distractions…until she takes a summer internship at Stone Cliff Resort and meets bad boy Noah Ryan. She knows she should keep her distance-after all he’s not the kind of guy she can bring home to daddy-but his disarming smile and dangerous ways are entirely too tempting. College dropout, Noah Ryan takes one look at Kathryn and instantly knows her type-ambitious, driven and determined, just like he used to be, before the accident that derailed his life and left him an emotional wreck. He vows to avoid her, but when a co-worker backs him into a bet he can’t refuse, everything he’s been running from is challenged and he’s forced to confront his demons. Soon, Kathryn and Noah are lost to everything except each other. As their lives become entwined, their passion is reckless, their heat all-consuming but when hurtful truths spill out, can Noah prove himself worthy of the one girl who can heal his wounded heart, or will the fire they ignited turn to ash when it all comes crashing down?

My Review

I’m just going to keep this review short and sweet. Crashing Down was a super quick, and easy read for me. It was a fun summer read. I enjoyed the friendship between Amy and Kathryn. I really felt like Amy helped pull Kathryn out of her shell and showed her how to live. Noah was a great bad boy, but there was more to him than meets the eye. My issue with Noah was that yes he was a bad boy, but I felt like he never changed. Ok, Maybe some small changes here or there, but nothing really significant. I just didn’t connect with him.

Overall, I thought this book was ok. It definitely had some HOT, sexy, moments and I loved the friendship between Amy and Kathryn. I liked the idea of this book and thought it had some good themes to it, I just needed more. Even though this book didn’t quite work out exactly as I hoped, I’d still be interested in checking out other works from this author.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

It isn’t just a few flames; it’s an especially large and destructive fire that causes devastation.

Branson Wellington? The name, my name, is usually followed by fucking prick or self-serving bastard, and I can’t say I haven’t earned those titles. It’s true. I’m not the good guy. I’m not the boy next door. I’m definitely not your Prince fucking Charming. Not even close.

And I never wanted to be. Until her. The day I pulled her from the wreckage was the day that my life changed.

Who would have thought that one little lie had the power to throw two lives so off course?

Love has never been in the cards for me, but now that she’s here, I have no idea how I’m ever going to let her go. Even if I don’t deserve her.

Because like I said, I’m a self-serving bastard and some things never change.

Excerpt

As the blackness starts to fade away, I see that white light, but it doesn’t really look like that tunnel. No, it’s just a scene change, and if I could muster up enough strength, I’d groan because there are things in my life I’d rather not relive. It’s bad enough that I have the memories and have been dealing with the fallout for far too long. Reliving it all over again is more agonizing than the first time around, because now, I know the truth. I betrayed my brother in the worst possible way when he’d done nothing wrong, but by the time I found out, it was far too late. So why am I having these flashbacks playing in slow motion? I thought when you were on death’s door, your life was supposed to flash before your eyes. So why am I replaying every single mistake I’ve ever made as if it were the first time—in slow motion instead of quick bursts? Maybe my life did flash before my eyes and it happened so fast that I missed it. Maybe I’m dead after all and this? This is my hell.

My Review

When I heard that Branson was getting his own story, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. He wasn’t my favorite character, but I was willing to give him a chance. And I am so glad that I did!

“You’re nothing like I expected, you know. You’re so much more”

Conflagration follows the story of Branson and Ariana. Ariana has always been the perfect daughter. Always doing what is expected of her. She is about to make the biggest mistake of her life: marrying someone she doesn’t love. Call it fate or perfect timing, but she hears something that wakes her up and stops her from making this huge mistake. After calling off her wedding, she hits the road in search of finding herself. The last thing she expected was for fate to intervene once again and put Branson in her path…..Ariana is involved in a car accident and the only way she survives is thanks to her savior. The aftermath of their accident takes Branson and Ariana on one incredible journey………..

Branson….I was not his biggest fan especially with his history with Knox and Megan. He was a jerk, a dick; definitely not prince charming. When he sets his sights on something, he will do whatever it takes to acquire it and he is a total alpha male. But, boy did I have him wrong. There is so much more to Branson than I ever knew. Branson has always lived in his brother’s shadow. He was always working so hard to make his parents proud of him and see him for who he was. His number one priority was his job. He wasn’t perfect and made a lot of mistakes, but when you find out the truth to what caused all of this, you will understand how he went from my least favorite character to my absolute favorite!

I LOVED Branson and Ariana together. Their chemistry was explosive. What started out as a fake relationship, quickly turned into a passion that couldn’t be denied. It was HOT and I mean scorching!

“I’ve been numb for twelve damn years, if not longer. But in one week’s time, you’ve thawed out the block of ice that’s been frozen around my heart”

And who knew Branson could be so swoon worthy?? I couldn’t get enough of them and was rooting for them to wake up and realize that what they have is real!

I am big fan of second chance romances and redemption and Tessa Teevan did not disappoint. The love that they shared was honest, real, raw. The very thing that I want to read about and swoon over.

Conflagration gave me everything that I was looking for and more. It completely exceeded my expectations.  This book made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes, swoon and put a huge smile on my face. And as most of you know, I love good angst-this book delivered with the perfect amount of angst and romance!!

If you are looking for a book about second chance romance, redemption, finding oneself and that is scorching hot: look no further! Conflagration does not disappoint.

Author Bio

I’m a twenty something book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and have been married to my own book boyfriend for over seven years. We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.

If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.

Book Review – Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey

Posted on

I wasn’t sure about Scoring Wilder when I read the synopsis. Sports romances aren’t really my thing. But if I HAD to choose a sport to base a romance read around then soccer would be it. Especially after watching the world cup recently! Have you SEEN some of those soccer players?? Reow!

What started out as a joke— seduce Coach Wilder—soon became a goal she had to score.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He’s a professional soccer player, America’s favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper.

• A face that makes girls weep – check.
• Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) – check.
• Enough confidence to shift the earth’s gravitational pull – double check.

Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits . Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. (i.e. “Score with Coach Wilder anywhere other than the field and you’ll be cut from the team faster than you can count his tattoos.”) But that just makes him all the more enticing…Besides, Kinsley’s already counted the visible ones, and she is not one to leave a project unfinished.

Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.”

Ok, this book was love at first line for me –

“Cheat on me once, shame on him. Cheat on me twice… what the actual fuck is going on?”

Hah!! I love it! This pretty much set the scene for the whole feel of the story. Kinsley had so many awesome one liners. She was quirky and cute and sooo funny. I love a spunky heroine that’s well written and R. S. Grey did an amazing job with Kinsley.

“I wanted them to say, “I thought she’d be good, but that girl is on fire.” They’d have no choice but to compare me to Katniss.”

And Liam…oh Liam. Swooooon. He was the hottest of the hot and even better – he totally had his shit together. Liam and Kinsley has a shaky start to their relationship but once he committed to being in a relationship with her, he went the whole way. There was no backing out or changing his mind. No wishy washy behavior. He manned the f*ck up and sorted his issues out so they were free to be together.

“That grin should be tucked away and brought out only for special occasions – where heart defibrillators would be present and accounted for.”

Of course, their relationship wasn’t without its trial and tribulations. There were the ‘mean girl’ type villains that were plotting to tear them down, and a ridiculously persistent ex-boyfriend that just could NOT get the message, but Kinsley and Liam were too cool for school. They just kicked ass and moved on (eventually).

Scoring Wilder was a light and fun read about breaking the rules and following your dreams. The plot was refreshing and the characters were a blast! This was the first book I have read by R. S. Grey but it definitely will NOT be the last.
