About REMEMBERING EVERLY

After two years in a coma, August Kinkaid has forgotten the darkness in his past. But his past hasn’t forgotten him. And the terrible secret Everly’s been hiding since her last fateful night with August.

But he can’t give up on the only woman he’s ever loved. Even if he has to reopen old wounds–and face the darkest demons of his past–August will do whatever it takes for a second chance with Everly. My Review

“Guilt, regret, dread. Three simple words that had the power to strip a man bare.”

“Secrets they had the ability to destroy lives, obliterate relationships and sabotage even the strongest partnerships. Big or small…it didn’t matter. Even the tiniest white lie had the power to corrode–to shatter and dismantle everything you loved.”

“Time froze. The world melted away and there was only him, me, and the swirling sea of emotions swimming between us.”

Oh, how I have been waiting for this book!!! Ever since I finished Forgetting August, I have been dying, dying to see how things would play out. I could not wait to get my hands on this book!!

Remembering Everly picks up right where Forgetting August left off. August is finally getting his memories back. But, with each new memory, it’s even more clear to him that he must push Everly away to keep her safe. It’s killing him to be away from her, but he doesn’t see any other way….Everly’s heart is broken. She is trying to move on with her life and do what is expected of her, but no matter how much she tries, she just can’t. Her heart belongs to August and it just kills her to think that he doesn’t feel the same way. Will these two be able to move past all the secrets and lies? Will August and Everly find their happily ever after?

Remembering Everly gives us all the answers we have been wanting. We finally understand what and why of things. The secrets of the past have all come out and now August and Everly must deal with the fall out. The road to HEA for these two was not an easy one. But, as the saying goes, anything worth having is worth fighting for. I loved watching these two navigate their way through everything and fight for their HEA.

Remembering Everly was a quick and easy read for me. I thought this story was captivating and entertaining. It was filled with lots of heartache, angst, frustrating moments and sweet romance. I loved all the secrets and the twists and turns. And most of all, I loved seeing how everything came together in the end.

This was the first series that I’ve read from this author and I’m really excited to read more from her in the future.

youlovedmeatmydarkestBlood is thicker than water…

Having endured more than their share of tragedy, sisters Lily and Sasha embark on a dream holiday—only to find themselves in hell. Kidnapped by a rich madman, Sasha is sold into slavery, while Lily is forced to join The Collection, a unique bevy of exotic beauties enduring frequent horrors at the hands of elite bidders. However, no amount of pain and suffering will break Lily, who will stop at nothing to save her younger sister. Possibly with help from an unlikely ally.

Love is stronger than loyalty…

Attempting to prove his allegiance to his employer, Jake is tasked with guarding the unruly and uncontrollable Lily. He can’t afford to help her in her quest to free Sasha—not if he hopes to fulfill his own agenda. But in their dark, gritty, tension-filled world, solace is taken wherever it’s found. Bonds are formed and hearts engage despite Jake’s resistance and both their attempts at self-preservation.

When certain secrets come to light, the resulting explosion has breathtakingly bittersweet consequences that, by the end, may not leave everyone whole…or alive.

My Review

Wow! I don’t even know what to say. This book has been on my tbr for a while and I’m so glad that I finally read it. When I first picked up this book, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. When I read the prologue, I was blown away. My heart was broken. I had to read more. I was immediately gripped by Sasha and Lily’s story. A trip to the states forever changed their lives. The two women will find themselves in hell, in a life they didn’t know existed. No one should have to ever endure what these two women had to.

You Loved Me At My Darkest is not an easy read. It’s intense and deals with some very difficult subject matter. As intense as it was, I found myself unable to put this book down. I had to know how it would all turn out. I had to know if the sacrifices that were made, would pay off in the end.

You Loved Me At My Darkest is dark, intense and captivating. It is a story about the strength of a sisters bond. It is a story of finding love in the most unexpected places. You will be taken on such an incredible journey. You’re emotions will be all over the place. As the story unravels there are so many secrets, so many twists and turns. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. You will find yourself wondering who can can trusted? Who is on your side?

A woman forever scarred…

Emily was a captive in The Collection for five long years, enduring torment and anguish the likes of which no soul should have to bear. Now rescued, she’s struggling to put the past behind her, to assimilate in a world where most will never know the evil often lingering beneath the superficial façade. Worse, she burns to avenge herself against the man who subjugated her again and again during her confinement—a man bent on getting her back.

A man forever devoted…

Kayne has wanted Emily for what seems a lifetime. Before they were ripped apart, theirs was an epic love, one Kayne knows is worth saving, rebuilding. Alongside her brother, Kayne searched for Emmy for years, and no amount of insistence on her part will push him away now that he’s found her. Tender patience will help her heal—if her vendetta doesn’t get her killed first.

Satisfaction reaped from revenge is fleeting, but personal demons linger. Will Emily fight them? Or allow her flaws to overshadow her strengths, denying herself that which Kayne desperately wants to give?

My Review

“For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and Romeo,” Kanye softly whispers before he gently kisses my closed lips. “That’s us, baby, but we win. We turn our nightmares into a beautiful dream.”

You Loved Me At My Weakest was an amazing follow up to You Loved Me At My Darkest. You Loved Me At My Weakest is Emily and Kayne’s story. Their story is a difficult one, but it is incredibly beautiful. Kayne has been lost since Emily disappeared 5 years ago. Not a day went by without him searching for her. When Kayne found Emily, he thought all of his prayers had been answered. What he didn’t know was that the battle was yet to come. Emily’s life has been forever changed. She has experienced things in the five years that she was gone, that no one should have to. She prayed everyday for Kayne to come and save her, and now that he has, she doesn’t know how to move forward.  She is a shell of the woman she used to be. She feels ugly, used, worthless. She wants to protect Kayne from the monster that lives inside of her. Will Emily be able to overcome the things that haunt her? Will Kayne and Emily be able to move forward and get back what they once had?

You Loved Me At My Weakest is intense, frustrating and full of hope. It is a story about finding yourself, moving forward, letting go of the past and letting love in. This story is not easy and at times is frustrating. My heart went out to Emily and everything that she had to endure. I loved Kayne’s love, strength and determination. He never wavered, no matter how many times that Emily tried to push him away.

This story and the characters were so easy to get lost in. Kayne and Emily’s journey was so powerful, so amazing. It has left me an emotional mess. Their story is full of hope. It shows the true strength and power of love. I loved the message behind the story. It’s one that I know will stay with me, and that is: Never give up. Even when times feel dark, and you feel lost. There is always hope. There is always someone willing to pull you to the light….

fighting to breathe teaser 1

My Review

“Sometimes in life, you’re only given the shot at something beautiful once, and when you have it in your grasp, you’ll do anything to keep it, even if you end up crushing it in the process.”

Beautiful. Emotional. Gripping. Heartbreaking. This is one of those books that I know will be staying with me for a long time. Aurora Rose Reynolds took me on such a great journey, that I’m still fighting to find the words to do this review justice. All I can do is give it my best try.

Fighting to Breathe follows the story of Lea Lamb and Austin Wolfe. Lea and Austin were high-school sweethearts. They were so in love and had plans to get married. That was until one day, tragedy struck and changed their course forever. Lea’s father was killed in a boating accident and she let her grief consume her. She was terrified that Austin would meet the same fate as her father and didn’t have the strength to stick around. Now 15 years later, Lea has come home because her mother is dying….Austin was devastated when Lea took off 15 years ago. Even though Lea broke his heart, he’s never been able to move on. When Lea returns home, it’s as though no time has passed and all those feelings they thought were buried, have come to surface. Lea and Austin must face the past if they ever have a chance of moving forward. When Austin learns of a secret that Lea’s mother has been hiding, it changes everything. Everything he thought he knew is wrong. Now, Austin has been given a second chance with Lea and he’s not going to let her go. This time he’s going to fight for what’s his….

Fighting to Breathe captivated me from the very first page. Lea and Austin’s story was beautiful. You could just feel the love that those two had for each other. My heart broke when Lea left Austin, but I understood why. She was young and couldn’t understand the depth of her grief. She thought she was saving herself heartbreak, but she was wrong. Boy was she wrong. When Lea returns home, you can feel the pain and love she has towards Austin. It’s heartbreaking seeing them apart, especially when you find out the secret that Lea’s mom has been hiding. You can’t help but root for Lea and Austin to find their way back from to each other.

Austin just stole my heart. He was lost when Lea left, but he never gave up. Deep down, his soul knew that one day, Lea would return. He tried so hard to hate Lea for the pain she caused the both of them, but he knew he could never hate her. When Austin learns of a truth that has been kept for him, the change in him, is amazing. Gone is the bitter and angry man. Now we have a determined Austin. An Austin is is going to fight for what he wants and this time, he’s determined to not let Lea get away.

I loved Lea and Austin’s journey. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. It was exactly how a second chance romance should be. Their connection, so real, so palpable. You just knew that what they had was inevitable. It was one of those romances that wild horses couldn’t stop. Their road to HEA wasn’t an easy one. They both had a lot of anger and grief to get past.  But, the journey was so worth it in the end. Their story is one that gives you hope and reminds you that life is too short. Not many people are offered a second chance and if you are one of those lucky ones that gets that second chance, you should grab on to it with both hands and never let it go. “Everyday, I work at giving him a fraction of what he has given to me, but really, how can you ever repay the person who breathed life back into you?”

Fighting to Breathe was such an amazing, emotional read. Lea and Austin’s story was so powerful. It pulled at my heart and gave me so much hope. I was consumed by their story. I got lost in the pages. The writing was brilliant, sucking me in and not letting me go until I finished every last word. Fighting to Breathe is a story of love, loss, and second chances. I loved everything about this story; from the characters to the story-line, it was just amazing. If you are a fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds or love second chance romances, I highly recommend checking this one out.

“CAN WE STOP by the liquor store on the way to dinner?” Mom asks from the passenger seat of my car.

“Should you be drinking?” I frown then turn onto the main road—well, really the only road in town.

“What’s it going to do, kill me?” she jokes, making me inhale a sharp breath. “Honey,” she says quietly, and I look at her briefly,

wondering how the hell she can be so casual about this. “I’m dying. When it will happen, only the good Lord knows, but it is happening, and there is nothing you or I can do about it. I have made my peace with it, and I want you to do the same.” She reaches over to pat my thigh.

“Make peace with it?” I repeat, shaking my head in disbelief.

“Yes, make peace with it. If you think about it, I’m lucky. I know I’m going to die. I know that sooner rather than later God is going to come take me home, and when he does, I will be ready. I will have had a chance to say goodbye to the people I care about and right any wrongs I’ve caused. I’m lucky, honey.”

“What about me?” I wring my hands on the steering wheel, feeling my chest get tight as I fight back tears.

“I love you, honey. I loved you before you were even a sparkle in my eye, and I will always be with you. I know this isn’t easy for you. I know there are going to be a lot of tears shed, but we’re lucky, honey.”

I press my lips together to keep from saying something I might regret. I’m not lucky; in fact, I’m unlucky to the tenth power. How many people have I lost, how many people do I have to loose before it’s enough.

“Oh look! Sheryl!” She yells, pulling me from my thoughts as she reaches over, pressing the horn on my steering wheel while her other hand shoots across me so she can wave out my window. Looking to where she’s waving my heart begins to beat wildly against my ribcage when I see not Sheryl, but Austin walking into one of the many bars that litter Main Street, only it’s not just Austin—it’s him and a woman with her arm wrapped around the back of his waist as he holds the door open for her.

Even from the distance separating us, my lungs compress at the beauty that is him. The years have been good to him. His hair is still shaggy, only now a little lighter; his face is tan and covered in a beard that makes his crystal blue eyes stand out even more. My eyes travel from his face to his torso, which is covered in a dark green thermal that shows off the muscles of his arms, chest, and tapered waist, then down to his denim-covered thighs. When my gaze sweeps back up, his eyes are on me, and I see them crinkle in confusion then realization that soon turns into anger.

“You missed the liquor store,” my mom complains as I speed up.

I fell in love with Liam only to be left shattered into a million pieces. Again. The idea of being without him cripples me but the reality is, he’s gone.

He doesn’t understand and I can’t make him.

If only he’d see the conviction behind my words—then Liam would still be here.

My Review

“I look at them both and they stand there. I want to throw something, scream, cry, and loose it for once. I’m always the one holding it together. Trying to make our lives easy. I’m a mother, a friend, daughter, and lastly I get to be a woman. Well, this time…I’m a woman first. I have to give myself a chance to come through this”

After the way things left off at the end of Consolation, I have been waiting in anticipation to get my hands on this book. I needed this book. I remember being shocked and stunned by how Consolation ended. I didn’t want to accept that what I read, what had happened. I had so many questions that I desperately needed answers to.

Conviction picks up right where Consolation left off. To say my heart broke for the reality that Natalie was now facing is an understatement. She had finally moved on with her life and found happiness, only to have the rug ripped out from underneath her…..

Natalie is such a strong character. I can not imagine how hard this was for her to go through. The feelings that she must have had and the decisions that she had to make. Liam…god love him. Such a stand up guy. So desperately in love with Natalie. Wanting to do the right thing, even if the right thing would end up breaking his heart. Ugh…And Aaron…This is tricky. I want to loathe him so much. I want to hate him for destroying his family, for making such a dumb mistake. But, he’s human and now he has to let the cards fall and deal with the aftermath of his mistake….

“The strings that tied us together will be snipped by our own choice.”

I know, I’m being super vague here with this review, but this is one story that you need to read without spoilers. Natalie’s journey is a tough one. It’s emotional. It’s exhausting. It’s real, but it’s beautiful. It shows the true reality of love and how love shifts and changes. Being in love is not always sunshine and roses, there are hard times. Times when things seem so bleak that you don’t know how to move past them. You have to find the strength to see things for how they truly are and do what’s best for you.

I devoured every word while reading Conviction. So lost in the story that is Natalie, Liam, and Aaron. Conviction was the prefect follow up to Consolation. All your questions will be answered. This book will make you angry. You will laugh, cry, swoon and fall in love. Your emotions will go on one heck of a roller-coaster ride as you follow Natalie on this journey. And what a great journey it is….

Excerpt

Time isn’t something I ever thought much about.

It ebbs and flows, but it never changes. I can’t make it stop—no matter how much I want to. There’s no way to rewind the clock or halt it. In this moment, all I want is to make the world stop and go back to when I was happy and ready to tackle the world. Just two short minutes ago, there was no worry about how my day would go. I was going away with the man I love, the one who healed me. But time isn’t my friend. It slaps me in the face and laughs as I stand here wondering how the hell any of this is happening. I don’t want to move forward, and I sure as hell don’t want to slow it down.
