I was naïve to think my marriage to Luka Catano might work.

I was infatuated with him from afar…

Until I met him.

He loved the challenge of his next conquest, anyone would do…

Except me.

A wife was never something he wanted.

Torturous was not a strong enough word to describe how I felt when I was in a room with Luka. Besides hating nearly every word that came out of his mouth, I also drowned with lust every time I looked at him.

At times I thought he might feel the same.

But nothing prepared me for what his family would make me become.

Darkest Sinner - RB banner.jpg

Darkest Sinner, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Rachel Van Dyken is LIVE!

DarkSinner_eBook_HighRes.jpg

I’ve always known pain. Existence. Night.

Made a sinner.

Without a soul to keep me tethered to the world I so desperately want to be a part of but am damned to rule…

Life isn’t living.

Not when everyone sees you as enemy number one, King of the demon race and yet something much more… powerful and sinister pulses beneath the surface of my skin.

It started when I met her, the power surging under my fingertips like the cruel universe was finally answering my screams at night for something more.

And just like that, the memories come, only I don’t know if they’re mine or someone else’s entirely.

Long ago, I made a bargain with a god.

A soul for a soul.

I spent thousands of years without this awareness and now?

Everything I touch turns to ash.

Even my own immortal friends fear what I am.

Everyone but her. The day to my night.

Part of me doesn’t want to know what I am.

But it’s too late, too all-consuming.

Darkness is coming.

That darkness, I’m afraid. Is me.

MY REVIEW

All The Way is the second book in the Hot Jocks Series and follows the story of Becca and Owen. From the moment I dove into Becca and Owen’s story, I was hooked. Becca is ready to move on from her rocky past. But, everytime she thinks about putting herself out there and dating, she starts to freak out. So, Becca comes up with this crazy plan, that only her best friend Owen can help her with. Owen is a total ladies man and is the only one who can help her move past her hangups…Owen would do anything for Becca and when he agreed to her crazy plan, he just knew he was going to get more than he bargained for. The chemistry between Owen and Becca is hotter than either one of them ever dreamed of. Owen’s never wanted more than to have a little fun, but being with Becca….she just might turn his whole world upside down….

I absolutely adored All The Way. These characters hooked me instantly and had me hanging on each and every word. Becca and Owen burned hotter than ever and I couldn’t wait to see how their story would play out. Owen is the ultimate friend. He would do anything for Becca and he certainly can’t deny the chemistry he feels with her. And Becca was super brave to live through what she did and even braver to put herself out there. Her plan to move on might have been a little crazy, but there is no one else that would have treated her with the patience, love and care that Owen did.

All The Way is the perfect friends to lovers romance. This book is steamy and filled with terrific friendships and I’m happy to report that there is little to no drama in this story. All The Way is just effortlessly written and has a flawless flow to it. Before you even realize it, you’ll find that you’ve devoured Owen and Becca’s story and will be wishing their story never ended. I know I certainly felt that way.

All The Way is a wonderful addition to The Hot Jocks Series. Owen and Becca are impossible to not fall in love with and sure to steal you heart. This book was the perfect book to spend my day getting lost in and I’m excited to see where this series will take me next.

Review: Archangel’s War (Guild Hunter #12) by Nalini Singh

Wings of silver. Wings of blue. Mortal heart. Broken dreams. Shatter. Shatter. Shatter. A sundering. A grave. I see the end. I see. . .

The world is in chaos as the power surge of the Cascade rises to a devastating crescendo. In furiously resisting its attempts to turn Elena into a vessel for Raphael’s power, Elena and her archangel are irrevocably changed. . .far beyond the prophecy of a cursed Ancient.

At the same time, violent and eerie events around the world threaten to wipe out entire populations. And in the Archangel Lijuan’s former territory, an unnatural fog weaves through the land, leaving only a bone-chilling silence in its wake. Soon it becomes clear that even the archangels are not immune to this deadly evil. This time, even the combined power of the Cadre may not be enough. . .

This war could end them all.

MY REVIEW

“Sometimes, I convince myself I’ve imagined how magnificent you are, then you walk into a room and boom, there I fall all over again.”

“If death is our destiny, Archangel, she thought, then I’ll see you on the other side.”

To me, there is no better sign that you’re reading a good book, then when you stay up late to finish it. And I stayed up way too late finishing this one, but man was it worth the lack of sleep!

I don’t know about you guys, but after the way Archangel’s Prophecy left off, I have been dying to see what would happen next. And I’ve got to tell you, Author Nalini Singh does not disappoint. She pulls out all of the stops with Archangel’s War. Archangel’s War picks up right where the last book left off and just hits the ground running. If you had questions, I promise, your questions will get answered. This book exceeded my expectations and took me on one thrilling and entertaining ride.

One of the things I’ve come to love about this series is the authors creativity and the way that she contiues to build on to the world we’ve come to know and love. The plot is intricate and keeps you guessing. There is a lot going on, but in the best way possible. The action and danger keeps you on your toes and will keep your eyes glued to the pages!!

And then we have our dynamic duo: Raphael and Elena. I fell in love with these two when there were first introduced to The Guild Hunter Series and with each story, I have fallen harder for them. Their relationship is inspiring. They are partners in all things and only become stronger as time goes on. There is nothing these two can’t do or overcome. They are passion filled, unstoppable team, that will just leave you begging for more.

Archangel’s War was everything I was hoping for and then some. With a world in chaos and a looming war, Archangel’s War is destined to keep your eyes glued to the pages. There was action and intensity, war and suspense, romance and steam. I had a ton of questions and couldn’t wait to have them all answered. I loved seeing this story unravel and come together.

Archangel’s War is a thrilling and exciting ride. It ties up all of the loose ends and I couldn’t be happier with how things ended. I’m not sure if there is going to more to this series or not. I’m happy with how things ended, but at the same time, I’m hopeful that this won’t be the last that we see of these character or the Guild Hunter World…..

Excerpt From Archangel’s War by Nalini Singh

“We watch,” the Primary said. “We protect.”

But things were altering in front of them, a faint glow emanating from where the aeclari had been before the filaments obscured both Raphael’s body and Elena’s chrysalis.

Beyond the balcony doors now partially covered with the snow silk of the filaments, the Bluebell turned. His eyes widened at seeing the ocean of filaments, the glow. But before he could open the closed doors, a familiar voice entered all their minds.

Leave now. It was an order from an archangel. Clear the skies above. Empty the land around. GO.

The Legion were moving even as the last word echoed in their minds. They were Raphael’s Legion, Elena’s Legion, and they had been given an order. The Bluebell wasn’t Legion. He was one of the Seven. Unique. With his own mind.

Torment wrenched his features, but he inclined his head, and the Primary saw him form the word, “Sire.”

All of them moved.

The Bluebell dropped to the grass, then ran inside the house.

The Legion broke into four parts and swept the area. Winged beings were already flying toward the river at high speed, their faces stark and their jaws determined. The Legion dropped down in front of cars moving on the nearest road. The cars were not so close to the aeclari’s home, but the archangel hadn’t said how far to clear.

When the first two cars halted with a screech that caused a burning scent to rise to their nostrils, the Legion wrenched the doors open and hauled the startled vampires out. A group of the Legion rose into the air, two to a vampire. Another group found four humans in a third car, a vampire’s cattle heading home. The scared cattle whimpered at being taken by the Legion but didn’t struggle. Neither did the vampires after they saw the angels racing from the Enclave to the water.

Golden light poured out from the windows of the aeclari’s home.

Many of the angels streaming over the water held vampires or humans in their arms, getting their households out of danger. The Bluebell was one of the last to fly out of the Enclave, and though the Legion did not speak to many outside of the aeclari, they spoke to him: Are the aeclari’s people safe? This was important. The Legion knew. The aeclari had bonds to those who lived in the house.

Yes, I got them out. The Bluebell, who could fly faster than the Primary and sometimes raced with the cars of the Blade and the Viper, fell off the cliff with his wings licked by a golden light so bright that it was difficult to face. In one hand, he held a large rectangular thing, in his other items they recognized.

Several of the Legion flew to him, and took the things. They did not understand things, but these were linked to the aeclari in their mind. We will fly them to the Tower.

Most of the angels kept on flying toward Manhattan, and those of the Legion that carried vampires or mortals kept on going, too. But the Primary turned once he was over the center of the river, as did those of his brethren who flew only their own bodies.

The Bluebell halted in front of them, the silvery blue of his wings spread and his face awash in the burning golden light that had turned the river to gold.

And the light, it grew, and grew, and grew.

Until at last, the light was so bright that it became fire and even the Primary couldn’t bear it and threw up his arm in front of his eyes. The last thing he saw was an intense white brightness.

Review: Kiss Me Tonight by Emma Hart

What do a wrong number text, a burning building, and a quirky florist have in common?

A hunky firefighter with an extra-large…hosepipe.

In hindsight, I never should have opened that text message. The last thing I needed first thing on a Monday was a picture of some stranger’s, um, eggplant, in my inbox.

I also should have replaced the batteries in my fire alarm, because my Friday night did not need to end with my apartment building going up in flames.

But it’s fine. It’s fine. Everything is fine.

I’m only lying in a hospital bed with more split ends than I’ve ever had, almost all my Earthly possessions have turned to ash, and apparently, they don’t serve wine to patients in this place.

But like I said, it’s fine.

Until he walks in.

The guy who saved my life. My hero. Noah Jacobs

And the universe is amusing itself at my expense, because the dirty photo I woke up to on Monday?

It’s his.

MY REVIEW

“She tasted like temptation and the death of all my self-control. She tasted like someone who could be the rest of my fucking life.”

Kiss Me Tonight is the second book in the Kiss Me Series and follows the story of Noah and Reagan. Reagan’s story starts off in the most unconvential way. She wakes up to find that she’s been sent a naughty picture. Obviously, it was sent in error, but she can’t help herself from responding. From that moment on, an unexpected friendship forms between Reagan and her stranger. Fate has plans for these two and when it comes to fate, all you can do is just sit back and enjoy the wild ride.

I have to say that Kiss Me Tonight is my favorite romantic comedy from Emma Hart this year. I mean, she totally knocked it out of the park with this one. Reagan is top notch. She’s got zero filter and isn’t afraid to give it to you straight. Her family is totally nuts, and will leave you in stitches over their antics. But, there is more to Reagan than meets the eye. Yes, she’s sarcastic and says whatever is on her mind, but when she loves, she loves hard. She keeps it real and isn’t afraid to be herself. And then we have Noah….Noah. Noah. Noah. He is the total package and is 100% swoon worthy. He’s not perfect. He can’t be since it was his picutre is what brought him and Reagan together. But, you know, in this day in age, dating is HARD. Anyways, Noah doesn’t shy away from the crazy that is Reagan. He embraces it and just goes with the flow. He is exactly what Reagan was missing from her life.

I really enjoyed getting to know Reagan and Noah. Their story had me laughing so much that I had a seriously hard time containing it. Their chemsitry was instant and I fell in love with both of them just through their text messages. Their chemistry was palpable and off the charts. I just couldn’t get enough of these two together. And one of the things I loved the most was just the ease of their relationship. There was no drama, no over the top moments, no angst. Just a straight up romance that kept me on my toes and left me begging for more.

Kiss Me Tonight is just what the doctor ordered and is a must read for any romantic comedy lover. I laughed. I swooned. I had the absolute best time. Reagan and Noah’s story was a terrific one to spend my day getting lost in and I just loved every single moment of it….

Review: Wrapped Up in You (Heartbreaker Bay #8) by Jill Shalvis

It’s love. Trust me.

After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.

Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-terms plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.

MY REVIEW

Wrapped Up In You is the 8th story in the Heartbreaker Bay Series and it follows the story of Kel and Ivy. Ivy is used to being constantly on the move. She is in an expert in all things and has never stayed in any place for a long time. San Francisco might be the place that changes everything for her. She has a job she loves and has a place to call her own. She’s guarded and insn’t ready to let anyone in. And when Kel O’Donnell comes into her world, he threatens to turn her normal upside down….Kel too is a guarded man. He’s burned too many times to count, but there is just something about Ivy that calls to him. She is everything that he’s been searching for….or so he thinks. When Ivy’s past threatens her new life, Kel will find himself questioning everything he thought he knew…

Overall, I found this book to be a quick and easy read. The characters were easy to connect with and I loved the way that Kel and Ivy balanced one another. I thought they had great chemistry and loved that they weren’t perfect; each of them having their hearts broken before. Kel and Ivy’s story delivers on the swoon and steamy moments without going over the top.

Wrapped Up In You was a great read from beginning to end. I enjoyed getting to know these two characters and of course enjoyed catching up with our old friends. I can’t get enough of this small town setting and can’t help but look forward to see who’s story will come next. If you’re looking for a sweet, small town romance that’s filled with heart, friendships and characters you can’t help but root for, then look no further, Wrapped Up In You is just the book you’ve been waiting for.
