Review: Secertly Yours by Tessa Bailey

Review: Secertly Yours by Tessa Bailey

From #1 New York Times bestselling author and TikTok favorite Tessa Bailey comes a steamy new rom-com about a starchy professor and the bubbly neighbor he clashes with at every turn…

Hallie Welch fell hard for Julian Vos at fourteen, after they almost kissed in the dark vineyards of his family’s winery. Now the prodigal hottie has returned to their small town. When Hallie is hired to revamp the gardens on the Vos estate, she wonders if she’ll finally get that smooch. But the grumpy professor isn’t the teenager she remembers and their polar opposite personalities clash spectacularly. One wine-fueled girls’ night later, Hallie can’t shake the sense that she did something reckless–and then she remembers the drunken secret admirer letter she left for Julian. Oh shit.

On sabbatical from his ivy league job, Julian plans write a novel. But having Hallie gardening right outside his window is the ultimate distraction. She’s eccentric, chronically late, often literally covered in dirt–and so unbelievably beautiful, he can’t focus on anything else. Until he finds an anonymous letter sent by a woman from his past. Even as Julian wonders about this admirer, he’s sucked further into Hallie’s orbit. Like the flowers she plants all over town, Hallie is a burst of color in Julian’s gray-scale life. For a man who irons his socks and runs on tight schedules, her sunny chaotic energy makes zero sense. But there’s something so familiar about her… and her very presence is turning his world upside down.

MY REVIEW

Secretly Yours is the exciting new slow-burning romance from author Tessa Bailey.

Secretly Yours follows the story of Hallie and Julian. Hallie is a bit of a hot mess, trying to find her place in the world, now that her grandma has passed. She gets into a lot of shenanigans, but her heart is in the right place. When the object of her affection, Julian returns to town, he turns her world upside down in more ways than one…

Overall, I thought this book was a really cute read. I loved the premise of it. I loved how over-the-top and messy Hallie was. She has a heart of gold and isn’t afraid to stand up for the things that are most important to her. She is the complete opposite of Julian in every way, but you know what they say, opposites attract 🙂 Julian is a reserved and grumpy professor. He likes to have everything in order and isn’t sure what to make of Hallie. Everything about her should make him want to run in the other direction, but somehow, Hallie pulls him out of his shell and he can’t fight the pull he feels toward her. I adored the slow burn between Julian and Hallie and loved watching the two of them try to figure things out.

As much as I adored this story, I did have a few issues with it. The first one being a personal issue, I still very much struggle with the third-person point of view. It’s not my favorite and is always something that takes me a while to adjust to. My other issue with the story was the pacing. It started off a bit slow in the beginning and the slower pace made it feel like forever before anything happened.

Even though I had a few issues with this story, I still found it to be a delightful read. The characters are full of life and you can’t help but want to get to know them more. This story has entertaining shenanigans and light drama for the most part. But, don’t be fooled, this book has all the spice one would expect from this author. I think this series is off to a great start and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Review: When a Moth Loved a Bee by Pepper Winters

Review: When a Moth Loved a Bee by Pepper Winters

New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters, delivers a brand new High Fantasy Romance.

“It’s taking everything I have not to touch you. Not because I want to make you mine but because every part of me screams that you already are.”

A pack of wolves hunt a girl who takes her last breath by a river’s edge.
She is found and nursed back to health by the kind-hearted Nhil people.
She has no memory.
No past.
And is given a choice that could change her forgotten life forever.

A pack of wolves adopt a man who begs for death in the grasslands.
Blood revives him. Flesh strengthens him. All while the alpha watches him as if he knows who he is.
He has no memory.
No past.
And yet…he’s drawn toward the smoke of a faraway clan.

And in that smoke, he finds a girl with the same mark on her thigh, the same empty mind, and the same forgotten language on her lips.

He’s convinced they know each other.
She’s certain they are strangers.
But the more time they spend together, the more tangled the truth becomes.
Their forgetfulness was deliberate.
To keep them apart.
To keep them lost.
To keep them from claiming their true power.
Because in that power exists a terrible choice.
A choice that could destroy the world…
…or each other.

When a Moth Loved a Bee is the first volume in the Epic Fantasy Romance Destini Chronicles.
A heavily romantic, spice-filled fantasy set in a world where life and death, shadows and stars watch over two forbidden lovers whose powers are best left forgotten.

Recommended for readers over R18 due to explicit scenes, content, and darker elements.

Author Note:
This Fantasy is 100% romance. It isn’t a quest where they spend most of the book apart. If you want a rich world, magic, intrigue, oodles and oodles of page time with the two characters together, all brimming with longing, forbiddenness, and butterfly-winging moments, then this is the book for you.

MY REVIEW

“Through every star and every sea, I’ll watch over you.” “Neither time nor distance, nor war or disaster can stop what is true. You’re mine and that can not be undone.”

“No wonder I’m drawn to you.” “You are light itself, and I am just a moth…a moth desperate to bask in you.”

As a fan of Pepper Winters’ dark romances, I couldn’t wait to see what she would bring to the table with a fantasy novel. And let me tell you, she does not disappoint. Pepper Winters weaves a fantastical tale of fantasy, magic, and forbidden love.

I’ll be honest with you, when I first got my hands on this book, I was completely intimidated. When a Moth Loved a Bee is a beast of a book sitting at 968 pages. Despite the intimidating page count, I was hooked the moment I started reading this book. I found myself completely enraptured with the story of Girl and Stranger and had to know more. Their story was so unique and intriguing. The longing and emotion made it feel as though you were experiencing everything right along with Girl and Stranger.

Pepper Winters did an amazing job with her storytelling and world-building, making it very easy to visualize what was happening. However, if I had to make one complaint, it would have to be about the page count. As much as the story flowed and captivated me, I felt like it took forever for things to happen. Please don’t get me wrong, I know that is expected with fantasy books, but with that high of a page count, I guess I was expecting more. More drama. More action. Just more of everything.

Overall, I found this book to be an enjoyable read, but long read. I liked all of the characters and found them all easy to connect with. The author did a wonderful job weaving a truly unique and spellbinding tale of forbidden love. This story left me with a lot of questions and I’m looking forward to seeing how things play out in the next book.

MY REVIEW

The Chemistry of Love is a fast-paced, super cute, nerdy romance that will suck readers in from the first page and leave them swooning.

The Chemistry of Love follows the story of Anna and Marco. When we first meet up with Anna, she’s completely smitten with her boss Craig. However, her crush might be a bit misguided. You see, Anna met Craig a few years prior to working for him and since that moment, she carried an unrequited torch for him. Sadly, when it came to Anna, Craig was completely clueless. That’s where Marco comes into play. Marco is the CEO for the company that Anna works for and whatever Marco has, Craig wants. What starts off as an experiment in attraction, quickly turns into more than they bargained for…

Overall, I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read. I thought Anna was quirky and I loved her nerdiness. Sure, she was clueless at times and like a fish out of water, but I found her to be enjoyable and enjoyed her quirkiness. I thought Marco was a great match for her. Not only was he swoon-worthy, but he too had some serious nerdiness about him. Together these two kept me laughing and entertained and I couldn’t wait to see their story play out.

If you’re looking for a fun, nerdy romance, you won’t want to miss The Chemistry of Love.

Release Blitz with Review: The Score by Kristen Proby

An all-new meet-cute sports romance from New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Kristen Proby, featuring Sophie Montgomery!

The Score by Kristen Proby is now live!

I have millions of followers on social media, and it has absolutely nothing to do with my last name. It’s because I’m good at what I do. I work hard, and it has paid off. I’m not a trainer who only talks the talk, either. I walk the walk—or rather, I run the run. It was actually during one of those jogs through the park that I ran into him.

Of course, at the time, I didn’t realize it was the Isaiah “Ike” Harrison, Seattle’s hot new quarterback. All I knew was that I was suddenly pinned under some solid, sexy body, unable to breathe.

But even now, I keep running into Ike in the most unexpected places.
And he’s doing everything in his power to convince me that he’s not just a player—in any form of the word. It’s so much more than that.
But I’ve been there, done that. I have the mended broken heart to prove it and have no intention of doing it again.
Except the frustrating man is convincing, and my walls are quickly lowering—especially when I feel responsible for possibly upending his career.

Is letting him in a mistake? Or will it be the best thing I’ve ever done?

MY REVIEW

The Single in Seattle series is quickly becoming a must-read, go-to series for me. Every time I pick up one of these books, I swear it’s like coming home and The Score is no exception.

The Score follows the story of Ike and Sophie. Sophie and Ike had the best meet-cute. They literally ran into one another and after that initial meeting, fate kept throwing the two of them together. The sparks between the two of them were instant and once you added in their hilarious banter, I knew I was done for.

What I loved about Ike and Sophie’s story was the ease of everything between them. Ike was a solid guy. He didn’t have the best upbringing and all he wanted to do was play football. Meeting Sophie was a total game-changer for him and completely knocked him off his axis. That brings us to Sophie. Sophie is so full of life and has the biggest heart and support from her family. Together these two just made my heart soar. They balanced one another so perfectly and I couldn’t help but root for these two to get their happily ever after.

In true, Kristen Proby style, The Score is rich in romance and family values, and light on the drama. This story will grab readers from the first page and will make you feel like you’re going right along for the ride with the characters. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself devouring all the words and never wanting it to end. I hope you fall head over heels in love with Ike and Sophie as I have.

All in all another solid read from author Kristen Proby. With each book, I fall more in love with this series and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us readers next in the Single in Seattle series!

MY REVIEW

“That tender heart was as beautiful as the starry night sky outside.”

“We were a storm. Two souls lost in the pouring rain.”

I absolutely adored Jasper Vale! This book was well-written, sexy, and filled with lots of heart. It grabs readers from the first page and will leave you wanting more…

When we first meet up with Jasper and Eloise, we find Elosie letting loose and being wild and free for once. But, what Eloise didn’t count on was finding herself married to Jasper. The two of them barely know one another and want to fix their mistake before things get out of hand, but getting a marriage annulled is a lot harder than you might think. When life and other forces come into play, Jasper and Eloise find more and more reasons to stay married.

Jasper Vale is a fantastic addition to the Edens series. I’ve been dying to get my hands on Eloise’s story and it did not disappoint. Eloise was really easy to connect with. She strived for perfection and wanted nothing more than to run the Eloise Inn. She has a huge heart and is genuine with every person she meets. And then we have Jasper. Jasper is quiet and broody. Thanks to his past, he finds himself closed off and doesn’t let many know the real him. Eloise is the exception to all of his rules and notions. Together these two rock the grumpy sunshine trope like no other. Their chemistry was instant and intense. Despite not knowing each other well, they tried hard to make things work and gave each other as much as they could. Sure, they both had their faults and issues, but I loved, loved, loved watching them trying to navigate their way through their fake relationship.

In the end, Jasper Vale was everything I hoped it would be and I couldn’t help but devour it in a single sitting. I was captivated from the very first page and wild horses couldn’t have stopped me from reading this book. This book was filled with family, love, passion, and some pretty great twists and turns. I loved everything about this book from beginning to end and can’t say enough nice things about it. It was the perfect read to snuggle up on the couch and get lost in. I can’t wait to see what Devney Perry has in store for us next.

MY REVIEW

“Life is made of messes. I’d be more than glad to clean this one up for you.”

“I felt her. I felt the shift in the air and the tremble of the ground the warm energy that infiltrated the space. I needed to guard myself against it. Ignore the pull that tugged and whispered and coaxed a gravity I’d do best to resist. I never should have asked her to stay here because there wasn’t a single piece of me that could handle her presence.”

“We fight for the ones we love, Milo. It’s who we are. It’s in our blood. And we fight to the end.”

“I think I’d break any rule for you, Milo Hendricks”

Seeing a new book hit my kindle from A.L. Jackson makes me as giddy as a kid in a candy store. I know I’m in for a treat, that I’m about to be taken on a rare and special journey. And when it comes to Promise Me Always, A.L. Jackson pulls out all the stops, tugs on my heartstrings, and delivers in every possible way…

Promise Me Always is the fourth book in the Redemption Hills series and follows the story of Milo and Tessa. Tessa will do anything for those she loves, even if it means putting herself in a terrible situation. Milo finds Tessa at her lowest and offers her a salvation she never knew existed. Together these two forged an instant and unforgettable bond. A friendship that would be put to the test and blossom into something truly amazing. The odds might be stacked against them, but wild horses couldn’t keep these two apart.

Promise Me Always hooked me from the very first page. Tessa and Milo were two broken and battered souls. Like recognized like and drew these two together like a moth to a flame. Their chemistry was instant and intense and led to a delicious slow burn that left me salivating for more. All that being said, the road to happily ever after was not a simple one for these two. There were lots of obstacles and ghosts from the past that had to be laid to rest, but I can promise you, the journey was so worth it in the end.

Promise Me Always was everything I had hoped it would be. It was a beautiful story of second chances, hope, forgiveness, and redemption. A story of letting go of the past and discovering that sometimes, bad things happen to good people. That sometimes when you’re back is against the wall, you’d do the unthinkable to protect the ones you love.

A.L. Jackson has once again blown me away with this unforgettable love story and her lyrical storytelling. Promise Me Always made me feel and experience so many incredible things. And I honestly can’t say enough about how incredible this book is. I hope you’ll pick up Milo and Tessa’s story and fall head over heels for it as I did.

MY REVIEW

“I feel like a small cornered animal being stared down by the big bad wolf. Too bad this wolf doesn’t know who he’s messing with.”

“She’s like a siren and I’m caught in her dangerous melody.”

“Impossibilities only exist to prove the possible, and we, Mia”….” are most definitely possible.”

Oh, my goodness! Ever since I heard about this book I have been dying to get my hands on it and Wild does not disappoint!

Wild follows the story of Mia and Hollis and will suck you in from the very first page. When we first meet up with Hollis, he is the bad boy musician your parents warn you about. He’s cocky, arrogant, and so sure of himself. But, the more time you spend with him, the more you discover there’s more to this playboy than meets the eye. And when Hollis meets Mia, all bets are off. Mia is the untouchable and off-limits daughter of musician, Josh Hayes. And while Mia loves her dad and family more than anything, she’s desperate to prove herself and make it on her own. She knows she should stay away from bad boy Hollis, but she can’t help but find herself drawn to him like a moth to a flame. In the end, neither one of them stood a chance…

Wild captivated me from the very first page and I easily devoured this story in a single sitting. After the first interaction between Mia and Hollis, I knew I was done for. Their chemistry was instant and I couldn’t get enough of their banter. I loved the bad boy, forbidden romance, and rockstar vibes that this story delivered. Hollis exceeded my expectations and there is nothing like watching a musician fall. The romance between Hollis and Mia may have taken these characters by surprise, but it was pure and sweet and I loved every second of it. Now, as with any good love story, there have to be a few bumps in the road, and the bumps in this story certainly tugged at my heart.

In the end, I fell hard and fast for Hollis and Mia. Their story had everything I was looking for and I certainly can’t wait to see what adventures Hollis’ band has in store for us readers in the future.

MY REVIEW

Mated in Chaos is the third book in the Aspen Pack series and follows the story of Adalyn, Cole, and Nico. Their story sucks you in from the very first page and isn’t afraid to take you on a wild and sexy ride.

The moon goddess takes things up a notch with this book. Tired of waiting for Adalyn, Cole, and Nico to figure things out, she takes matters into her own hands. This trio is scorching hot and a force to be reckoned with. Not only will these three have to navigate their new dynamic, but are also forced to deal with the danger that threatens to destroy everything.

Mated in Chaos completely suits this story. This story is filled with chaos, heart, sexy good times, and lots of exciting twists and turns. You’ll be kept on the edge of your seat, dying to know what happens next.

All in all, a fantastic read and great addition to this series!

A LOVE LIKE THAT

Jenna Hartley

Release Date: December 2

After my wife died, I never expected to fall in love again, let alone with her much younger sister.

Elle’s too young for me, though.

Too vibrant and cheerful to be saddled with a grumpy widower and two little kids.

Besides, she’s only here for a few months before she moves on to follow her dreams.

And there’s no way we could be together even if she were staying.

It doesn’t seem to matter how often I remind myself of all the reasons why we can’t, or shouldn’t be together, my body won’t listen.

Ever since Elle moved in, all I can think about is her. All I want is her.

She restored order to my home. She got my kids to smile and laugh again. Even I’m smiling more.

For the first time since my wife’s death, I feel alive, hopeful.

I already said goodbye to my childhood sweetheart, my wife, and the mother of my children.

And I know I have to let Elle go; I’m just not sure if I can.

MY REVIEW

A Love Like That is my first book by Jenna Hartley and certainly won’t be my last. A Love Like That is an emotional, yet unconventional love story that is sure to pull on the heartstrings of its readers.

Ever since Tristan’s wife died, he found himself floundering. No matter how hard he tries, he feels like he’s disappointing everyone, including his children. When his sister-in-law, Elle, steps in, she’s the answer to his prayers in more ways than one. And so begins a journey of hope, second chances, and learning to live again.

A Love Like That checked off so many of my top trope boxes! I’m a sucker for forced proximity and age-gap romances and this one certainly knocked it out of the park. I also quite enjoyed the forbidden factor of this story. I know it’s not for everyone, but it really worked with this story. From the moment you meet Elle & Tristan, you can’t help but connect and root for them. The chemistry between them is intense and just flows off the pages. The road to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one, there were so many obstacles standing in their way, and I for one couldn’t wait to see how everything came together in the end.

In the end, A Love Like That is a wonderful second-chance romance that will leave you with all the feels. I’m so glad that I’ve discovered this author and look forward to checking out the previous books in this series, asap!

Review: A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass

Review: A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass

#1 New York Times bestselling author of The Selection series Kiera Cass is back with her most epic novel yet—a sweeping enemies-to-lovers standalone romance.

“Love has a sound. It sounds like a thousand heartbeats happening at the same time.”

Princess Annika has lived a life of comfort—but no amount of luxuries can change the fact that her life isn’t her own to control. The king, once her loving father, has gone cold, and Annika will soon be forced into a loveless marriage for political gain.

Miles away, small comforts are few and far between for Lennox. He has devoted his life to the Dahrainian army, hoping to one day help them reclaim the throne that was stolen from them. For Lennox, the idea of love is merely a distraction—nothing will stand in the way of fighting for his people.

But when love, against all odds, finds them both, they are bound by its call. They can’t possibly be together—but the irresistible thrum of a thousand heartbeats won’t let them stay apart.

Kiera Cass brings her signature sparkling romance to this beautiful story of star-crossed lovers and long-held secrets.

MY REVIEW

“Love doesn’t look like anything.” “Love has a sound. It sounds like a thousand heartbeats happening at the same time. It sounds like the rush of a waterfall or the still of the world at daybreak. You can hear it at night, lulling you to sleep, and, in the middle of your darkesst days, it breaks through like a laugh.”

“It had been fascinating to watch how love chipped the jagged edges from someone, made them sharper in some ways and softer in others. It left me, for the first time, awed by the prospect. Love is complicated. Compicated, but so unexpectedly beautiful.”

“It was so easy. I understood now why anyone dared to let someone else have control over their heart. She could do whatever she wanted. She could throw my heart back into that hurricane, and I would thank her for it. I was hers. I was Annika’s. And there was nothing to be done about it.”

I have been a fan of Kiera Cass’ books for quite some time. She captured my heart with the Selection series and stole it once again with A Thousand Heartbeats.

From the moment my eyes caught the cover of A Thousand Heartbeats, I knew I had to read this book. I mean how could you possibly go wrong with the enemies-to-lovers trope in a fantasy setting? And let me tell you, this book does not disappoint. I was sucked into Lennox and Annika’s story from the very first page. Despite being from two very different backgrounds, Annika and Lennox’s background was very similar. Both of them were broken by the direction their lives took, but their sense of duty kept pushing them along. Lennox and Annika are destined to be enemies but for these two fate has other plans. And so begins an unforgettable, fantastical story of love against all odds and the duty their lives have thrust upon them…

A Thousand Heartbeats is a fantastic read from beginning to end. I loved the plot and the rich scenery. I loved the characters, flaws, and all. I will be the first to admit that this book does start out a bit slow but, honestly, that is to be expected with a fantasy novel. But I promise the pace does pick up around the 40% mark.

As far as characters go, I absolutely adored Annika and Lennox. Annika might have been a princess, but don’t let her status fool you. There is so much more to this girl than meets the eye and she is so much stronger than people give her credit for. And Lennox, 100% had my heart from the beginning. There was just something about him that intrigued me. I loved his sense of duty and how he was desperately trying to right a wrong. Together, these two were destined to be enemies and I love watching their relationship grow and change throughout the story.

In the end, A Thousand Heartbeats was everything I was hoping it would be. I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this story. If you’re looking for a Young Adult Fantasy novel with an enemies-to-lovers/starcrossed lovers vibe, you won’t want to miss A Thousand Heartbeats.
