It’s that time of year again! As you know, there is nothing more that I love then challenging myself when it comes to the books I read. Whether it’s a new author, series, a genre that takes me out of my comfort zone or being able to tackle some books that have been on my tbr for far too long; I live for a good reading challenge. The past few years, I stepped up my game not only with the books that I read, but also by attempting to clear out that never ending to-read list. As always, my challenges have been hard, but a ton of fun at the same time.
For 2021’s Reading Challenge, I really wanted to once again challenge myself and kick my never-ending to-read list’s butt!! And I am more than ready for the challenge……

Melissa Foster has a sexy new M/M romance coming and today we’re revealing an excerpt to TEMPTING TRISTAN! Check it out!
Title: Tempting Tristan
Author: Melissa Foster
Genre: M/M contemporary romance
Date: October 19th
Tempting Tristan is a stand-alone M/M romance featuring two sexy, hot alphas.
Fresh off the heels of yet another bad relationship, Tristan Brewer is taking a break from men to try and figure out where he keeps going wrong. He knows his biggest fault–he leads with his heart, not his head–and that’s never going to change. But after several introspective weeks, he’s beginning to get a handle on things. That is, until badass heartthrob Alex Wells walks into his bar…
Alex has spent eight years in the Army, months in a hospital bed, and far too long hiding his sexual identity. He’s guilt-ridden, damaged, pissed off, and up for a Silver Star–for the incident that nearly cost him his life, and kept him from his grandmother’s funeral. But all he wants to do is forget his stint with the institution that allows but doesn’t necessarily accept, and live the life he’s always dreamed of.
The chemistry between Tristan and Alex ignites from the moment they meet, and the more time they spend together the hotter the flames become. But the closer Tristan gets, the more Alex’s walls go up, and when the two walk onto a military base, Tristan finds out Alex’s physical scars aren’t the ones that run the deepest.

Exclusive Excerpt:
She rolls her pretty green eyes. “No, Tristan. Because the hottest man on the planet just parked his motorcycle and he’s heading in here. All of my female customers are drooling, and I’m sure you’ll see a flock of them coming in any minute now. Meanwhile, I’m stuck outside and soon I’ll have a pier full of empty tables.” She grabs a handful of napkins and waves them at me with a smirk. “Drool rags.”
“Dibs,” Charley says as she whips up a cocktail.
I laugh and hold my hands up. “I’m on a hiatus from all things male, so be my guest.” My ex, Ian, is a self-absorbed ass, and I was an idiot for letting him treat me like shit. Which is why I’m taking a break from men—even if it kills me. It’s been weeks since we broke up and I moved into my buddy Wyatt’s house. Wyatt and his twin sister, Delilah, own the Taproom. They inherited it when their parents were killed in a car accident a little more than a year ago.
“I’m sure he’s straight anyway,” Livi says. “The guy swaggers like a stud.”
“Hey, gay guys can swagger like studs,” I tease.
“I know that.” Livi peers out the pass-through window to the outside seating area and tosses her blond hair over her shoulder. “You’ll see what I mean. He’s a total badass.”
I tend to my customers as the girls discuss the badass hot guy, and when the front door opens, I can’t help but let my eyes drift over. Livi and Charley fall silent, ogling what truly might be the hottest guy on the planet. Linebacker shoulders fill the doorframe. The godlike creature is carrying a shiny black motorcycle helmet in one very large hand. His white T-shirt is stretched so tight across his chest I can see every ripple of his shredded abs, and his deliciously defined biceps are seriously struggling to be set free from his short sleeves.Tear, baby, tear.
He steps inside and runs a hand through his dirty-blond hair. Deep-set, brooding eyes slide over the customers sitting at the bar, sweep over Charley and Livi, and finally land on me. Charley whimpers, and Livi makes a sound in the back of her throat, both mimicking what I’m feeling, though my mouth is too dry to make a sound.

**Before I begin my review, I would just like to note that I did in fact beta read this book for this author. My review is of my thoughts and feelings during the entire process**
My Review
“Family is foreign to me. Always has been. When I get a glimpse of it, it’s hard to let go. “
“The first few notes themselves have me in a trance. They’re beautiful and heartbreaking and moving all rolled into one. He transitions from to string to string and strums with the ease and fluidity of a pro, and it’s only a matter of seconds before my hands fall to my sides.”
“I was as lost in the music as he was. The beauty in his voice, the depth of his words, it overwhelms me. He overwhelms me.”
Into the Nothing is the debut solo novel of author B.T. Urruela. My first thoughts upon finishing this book was what did I just read? I was floored. I was shocked. This book took me on one wild and crazy ride with an ending I did not see coming.
Into the Nothing is well written and grabs you from the very beginning. You will have your eyes glued to the pages to find out what will happen next. As you go deeper into the story, you won’t be able to put it down.
One of the things I loved about Into the Nothing is that the story is not as romance focused. Into the Nothing is more character and plot driven. The reader is really given a chance to get to know the characters and experience the story as if they are standing in the book right along with them. I also really liked how B.T. really focused on the family aspect and the overall way he wrote Paige’s family. Her family was written in a way that made them easy to connect with and made them feel like real people and not just characters in a story. And of course, I can’t forget about Brandi. She made me laugh so many times. Everyone and I mean everyone needs a Brandi in their life. She is not only a terrific friend, but I loved how she always told you just how things were and how she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.
Now, you might be wondering, is there romance? Yes, there is some. But, it’s more of a slow burning romance, instead of an in your face romance. And if you know me, you know that I love my romance. That being said, with this story, the slow burn worked well. You really got to see Paige and Xander get to know one another and be friends, before jumping into something more. And even though Paige and Xander’s romantic relationship was a slow burn, I am happy to tell you that there are some steamy, sexy moments.
Into the Nothing is such an exciting read. I found it refreshing and loved that it is not a traditional love story. It’s a story that will have you laughing your ass off one minute and glued to the pages the next. It is a story that is filled with mystery and intrigue. It will have you on the edge of your seat, trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. And just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, another twist will be thrown in and it will completely blow you away.
B.T. Urruela took a lot of risks with Into the Nothing and I could not be more pleased with the way things turned out. I am so pleased that B.T. took a chance and wrote the book that he wanted to write. He gave us a story that isn’t a traditional love story and doesn’t have the perfect cookie cutter ending. But, the ending he gave us, not only gave us hope, but left us begging for more.
Once upon a time, there was the wandering soul of Morgann, an 8th century Irish calligrapher-monk longing to be reunited with his soul mate. Deirdre was his forbidden love, a witch with whom he wrote a coveted book. Under her spell, the souls of the star-crossed lovers travel from bodies to bodies until they find each other. Eventually. That became his quest: unearth her new body and trigger her memory, for she is clueless about whom she once was. Unfortunately their story didn’t get a chance to become a fairy tale yet it still turned out as a famous urban legend referred as The Black Angel Book. Twice upon a time, not so long ago, there was me, rational and devastated Rose. I needed to get a grip, said my French mum after my year of numbness due to a painful break-up that led me to cut my wrist daily, to feel something, anything. So she sent me off to the free-spirited village of Provincetown, Massachusetts, to spend the summer with my American relatives. And just like that, I wasn’t myself any longer. Because someone pulled me out of the darkness and bewitched me, somehow. I couldn’t wait to jump his bones… but why was he holding back? He couldn’t wait to welcome me into his world… but was I ready to question my convictions and acknowledge that my self-inflicted cuts were now healing in record time? How could I have imagined he was longing for his own unorthodox fairytale to come true? Frantically.

“Please, say something!” I felt his tension as he begged me then yelled bitterly at the door, “Coming…” I remained silent, unable to articulate a word, let alone a sentence, numb. Turning back to me, he asked, “Rose, are you okay?” I shook my head and shrugged, my eyes itchy, staring blankly at him. Of course I wasn’t okay. I didn’t want to face the others. I wanted to be with him. “Please, answer me…” His voice sweet. Another knock on the door, his rocky voice let out another angry yell combined with a curse. His tone changed back to sweet, addressing me. “Rose, please. I need to know if we’re good before I get that fucking door.” Oh, he was either mad—or worried?—because swearing wasn’t his thing. “We’re good,” I managed to say, getting out of my trance. Was I lying to him now?
