Review: The Butterfly Effect (Boggy Creek Valley #1) by Kelly Elliott

The butterfly effect — one small change, one moment in time that impacts the future.

At twenty-six years old I never dreamed I’d walk in on my husband in bed with my best friend. At twenty-seven years old I found myself divorced, and the mother of a one-year-old son. Never mind I was learning to take the reins of my family’s apple orchard business. There was no way my life could be any more complicated…or so I thought.

Can a woman who’s lost all trust in men help a man who can’t even trust himself?

Aiden O’Hara was my brother’s best friend, and I would be remiss if I said I hadn’t always found him utterly attractive—and the passing of time or circumstances didn’t change that. But when he moves back to Boggy Creek Valley after serving his time as a Navy SEAL, I cannot deny the pull I feel between us.

Aiden is haunted by his own demons—demons that seem bigger than the both of us—and my heart warns me to stay away. I’d been burned already and didn’t need that added complication in my life, or so I thought. But one moment in time changes everything between us, and neither one of us can deny the hidden feelings we share.

Our pasts want to keep us apart…our future will be up to the wings of fate.

The Butterfly Effect is book one in the Boggy Creek Valley series and is a stand-alone novel.

MY REVIEW

Kelly Elliott pulls out all the stops in her latest release, The Butterfly Effect. The Butterfly Effect is the first book in the Boggy Creek Valley Series and follows the story of Aiden and Willa. Willa has been in love with Aiden for as long as she can remember, but the timing and life always seemed to get in their way. Flash forward to 9 years later, Willa is freshly divorced and Aiden has finally returned home. Things between Aiden and Willa have always been complicated, but this time pull between them is too strong to ignore….

The Butterfly Effect pulled me in from the very first page. I absolutely adored Aiden and Willa. From the moment I met those two, I just knew their story was going to be special and I was not disappointed. Kelly Elliott pulled out all of the stops with Aiden and Willa’s story. It has all the small-town goodness, sexiness, and light drama that we know and love from this author. You could tell that this story was written with a ton of heart and was going to take you on an unforgettable journey. Together, Aiden and Willa were just effortless. Their push and pull left me dying for more and their chemistry we off the charts.

This story does deal with some difficult subject matter and I applaud the author for the way she dealt with it and how she made the reader connect and understand what the characters were going through. Aiden and Willa’s story is the kind of story that you just can’t help but get consumed with and root for the characters to find their way.

In the end, The Butterfly Effect was an unforgettable read that left me swooning and with a huge smile on my face. Kelly Elliott Fans, you are in for one heck of a treat with The Butterfly Effect and I hope you love it just as much as I did. I think the Boggy Creek Valley Series is off to one heck of a start and I can not wait to see what the author has in store for us readers next.

Title: The Rebel

Series: Looing to Score

By Kendall Ryan

Release Day: March 30, 2021

An all-new sizzling standalone romance from New York Times Bestselling author Kendall Ryan…

Holt

Six years ago, Eden barged into my life and turned everything upside down.

We spent one scorching-hot night together, and then she disappeared into the sunset with the golden jock everyone adored. Which makes sense, right? A girl as beautiful and brilliant as Eden Wynn doesn’t end up with a rebel like me.

I expected them to live happily ever after, but that’s not what happened. She’s back in my life—and tempting me like no one else has. And while I’m certain I’ll only tarnish her shine, I want her.

I’d heard the old notion that one night held the power to change everything. I just never believed it.

Until now.

Eden

I’m public enemy number one.

Turns out, the East Coast is protective of their hockey team and very vocal about not wanting a young female owner. Well, too bad, because this team is all Grandpa Wynn left me, and I have no intention of walking away.

Enter my new head of security, Holt Rossi. My history with him is . . . complicated. Chemistry reignites between us while the world waits for me to stumble.

He’s supposed to protect me—but who will protect my heart from him?

Warning: This romance contains one growly, broken hero; a bunch of rowdy hockey players; and a smart, hardworking heroine whose life hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. This is a no-cheating, scorching-hot love story with a guaranteed HEA.

My Review

The Rebel kicks off a brand new series from author Kendall Ryan and it follows the story of Holt and Eden. When we first meet up with Holt and Eden, they’re in college and spend an unforgettable night together. Unfortunately for them, life had other plans and it will be 6 years before the two of them are reunited.

The Rebel is a fast-paced second chance romance. The characters are real and easy to connect with. I loved the idea of this story, Eden trying to run a failing hockey team and Holt being the knight in shining armor security guard. Seriously, it was the best set-up. I loved how easy things were between Holt and Eden. Despite their time apart, the chemistry between them burned hotter than ever and was impossible to ignore. Holt entered Eden’s life at just the right moment. Sure he was broody at times and didn’t think he was right for Eden. But, Holt was exactly what the doctor ordered…

The Rebel is a fun and sexy read. It’s one that you can easily devour in just a few short hours. I thought this book was refreshing and entertaining. It was written with a lot of emotion and had little to no drama. If I had to make one complaint, it would be that I felt some parts were a little rushed. There were a few instances where certain subjects were touched on, yet glossed over at the same time. I found those moments lacking and they left me wanting more.

Overall, I think this series is off to a good start. I did have some issues with this story, but still found it to be an enjoyable read. I had a fun time getting swept up in Eden and Holt’s story and look forward to seeing where this series will go next.

Review: Custom Made (Fast & Fury #2) by Chantal Fernando

Cameron Davies has the job she’s always wanted—designing custom motorcycles at Fast & Fury. No way is she going to screw this up. But when her wild, sexy one-night stand ends up being the shop’s new VIP client, her life is suddenly turned on its head.

Orion Stenton radiates power, danger and, most of all, sex. His lavish lifestyle is fraught with dangers for Cam—and a far too intimate link to her past. She has to keep things professional, but it’s impossible to forget the feel of him or the way he whispers her name.

The connection between them demands far more than a quick fling. But when Cam’s past puts Orion in danger, she must face her demons if she’s going to save them both.

My Review

Custom Made is the second book in the Fast and Fury Series and follows the story of Cam and Orion. Cam and Orion’s story was fun, entertaining, and kept me intrigued the entire time.

I couldn’t help but be intrigued by Cam when her character was first introduced. She made some bad decisions and paid the price for them. Now she just wants to put the past behind her and turn her life around. Meeting Orion was the last thing she expected. Orion is everything she should be staying away from. He’s sexy, powerful, and dangerous. Try as she might, she can’t fight the pull she feels towards Orion. Will Cam get that second chance she so desperately is seeking or will her past sneak up on her and destroy everything? There’s just one way to find out…

Custom Made was a fun book to spend my day getting lost in. Cam is an extremely talented artist who’s worked hard to put her past behind her. Her past has made her kind of jaded, but in spite of all of that, she still believes in love and family. Orion is everything she should stay away from, but just can’t. He’s sexy, determined, and isn’t afraid of going after what he wants. I loved that Cam didn’t give in to Orion immediately. She made him work for her affections and prove to her that he wants more than just a good time. Were these characters perfect? Absolutely not! I think that’s what drew me to them. They were flawed and easy to connect to. They had issues to overcome and while communicating didn’t always come easy, neither one of them was willing to give up without a fight.

Overall, I thought this was a really entertaining read. I enjoyed the drama and friendships. I loved the romance and good times. I loved the closeness of the MC and how they looked out for everyone. All in all, I had a great time getting swept up in this story and can’t wait to see where this series will take readers next!

Young. Wealthy. Elite. Ruthless. The boys of Clermont Bay ruled over this town as if it was their kingdom.

And Beck Clermont controlled them all.

He was arrogant and conceited, and from the moment I met him, he had made up his mind about me.

Dangerously handsome and wickedly cruel, he had no intention of letting me spend my senior year under the radar.

The secrets of old money ran deep, and even though I barely knew them, the sins of my family had put a target on my back.

He was a hurricane, and I was unprepared for the storm.

His touch fatal. His impact irreparable.

There was no negotiation.

He stole my heart. Without warning, without permission.

He was the enemy, but that didn’t stop me from falling for The Touch of a Villain.

MY REVIEW

“She looked at me like she didn’t care that I was the villain of her story.”

The Touch of a Villain is the explosive first book in The Boys of Clermont Bay Series. The Touch of a Villain is a delicious bully/enemies to lovers romance that will keep readers on the edge of their seats and leave them begging for more.

There is nothing I love more than a good enemies to lovers/bully romance and this one hit all of the marks for me. I was sucked into the story immediately and was dying to know what would happen next. The tension and chemistry were so palpable, you could feel it oozing off the pages. You’ll be left with a million questions and though readers know instantly that they should hate Beck, there is just something about him that just draws you in and is impossible to ignore.

The Touch of a Villain is filled with intrigue and a delicious web of lies. You know something bad went down in the past, but what exactly happened, is still to be determined. And just when you think you’ve got a handle on where the story is going and what someone’s true intentions are, you get thrown one heck of a curveball. Yes, the ending of this story left me shocked, surprised, and anxious to see what will do down next.

All in all, this book was a fabulous read to spend my morning getting lost in. I couldn’t put this book down and devoured it in just a few hours. I think this series is off to a fantastic start and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

Forever Summer is the latest romance novel from author Melody Grace that is sure to leave readers swooning and with a smile on their face.

Forever Summer follows the story of Evie and Noah. Looking for a fresh start, Evie finds herself the new owner of the Beachcomber Inn. Unfortunately for Evie, she bit off a lot more than what she planned on. But, no worries. If anyone is up for the challenge, it’s Evie. The one thing she didn’t plan on was Noah. Noah wants nothing more than to keep his life calm and easy breezy. The last thing he was looking for was a woman to complicate things. No matter how hard they tried to avoid it, fate kept throwing the two of them together. Noah and Evie are no strangers when it comes to heartache and only time will tell if they’re willing to put their hearts on the line…

Forever Summer is just the read I was looking for to put me in the Summer state of mind. Forever Summer kicks off the Beachcomber Inn Series and what a great start to this series it is! The characters are fun and relatable. The storyline is intriguing and will suck readers in instantly. Noah and Evie have amazing chemistry and I loved all of their interactions. They shared so many wonderful will they/won’t they moments. Both Noah and Evie are no strangers to heartbreak and are both afraid to fall in love again. I loved how well they got each other and how real the author made them. They are the kind of characters you can easily find yourself rooting for.

Forever Summer is a quick and heartwarming read. It’s definitely a read that you can finish in a single sitting. I fell for the characters and their stories right away. I loved all of the cameos from the Sweetbriar Cove Series and am excited for more in the Beachcomber Inn Series.

If you’re looking for a sweet and sexy read with light drama and a guaranteed happily ever after, look no further. Forever Summer is just the read you’ve been waiting for!

Review: The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting by Emma Hart

Review: The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting by Emma Hart

What I thought I’d get on Valentine’s Day: a card.
What I got on Valentine’s Day: a blind date with my brand new roommate.

Let it be known that I, Saylor Green, am wholeheartedly against blind dating. I think it’s superficial, unnecessary, and designed wholly to force people into relationships they aren’t ready for.
It’s me. I’m people.
So when Dylan Parker takes the seat across from me, I’m ready to dismiss him at one glance.
The problem? He’s hot and funny and sweet and the exact kind of guy I read about in the romance novels I sell like hotcakes in my bookstore.
He’s also my new roommate.
Who likes to walk around in his sweatpants and peer over my shoulder and comment on all my online dating escapades.
When he offers to help me flirt my way to dating success, I’m all for it.
But what am I supposed to do when the only person I want to flirt with is… Dylan?

MY REVIEW

The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting is the third book in the Bookworm’s Guide Series and it follows the story of Dylan and Saylor. The last thing on Saylor’s mind is getting set up on a blind date. She’s totally against it. But, when her friends beg her to participate, she can’t say no. What she least expected was to find her roommate Dylan sitting across from her. He’s funny, sweet, and has all the qualities you’d want to find in a great book boyfriend. The problem? You guessed it. He’s her roommate. At first, the two of them laugh it off as a plan their buddies put together but quickly turns into more. Suddenly, Dylan is looking more interesting to Saylor. And when Dylan offers to help Saylor with her flirting, all bets are off. Will these two open their eyes and take a chance on what’s in front of them? There’s only one way to find out….

The Bookworm’s Guide to Flirting is a quick and entertaining read. I thought this story was written well and I loved Emma Hart’s signature humor. You can easily find yourself devouring this book in just a few short hours. I thought the idea of this story was a lot of fun. I was entertained by the banter and humorous moments. I loved the chemistry that Dylan and Saylor shared. Dylan was exactly the guy Saylor could see herself with but she had to get over the fact that he was her roommate. That fact alone, had me dying to see what would happen between the two of them.

Overall, I had a fun time getting swept up in Saylor and Dylan’s story. It was really easy to connect with and get lost in these two. Emma Hart delivers another wonderfully entertaining read that is sure to leave readers glued to the pages right until the very end. And I for one, can not wait to see what this author has in store for us readers next!

The Stud Next Door

By Kendall Ryan

Release Day: January 19, 2021

Life threw me a curveball. An adorable eight-pound, four-ounce curveball with her mother’s eyes and my dark hair. I’d like to think my single-dad game is strong, but honestly? I’ve been struggling a little.

When a beautiful young woman moves in next door and offers to give me a hand, I jump at the chance to hire her as a nanny. Jessa is amazing with my daughter. She’s also patient, kind, and way too pretty.

The number one rule of hiring a nanny? Don’t bed the nanny.

It’s a rule I intend to keep.

But as the days pass, I begin to realize how much my life is missing. Companionship. Romance. Intimacy. When I discover my heart has space for one more female, it’s a lost cause, another curveball. The hot-as-hell nanny is leaving soon for a mission trip to Central America. No sense in letting myself fantasize about Jessa being a permanent part of my life.

The closer we get, the more difficult it becomes to keep my feelings in check, because my heart won’t listen. And neither will my libido.

Well, you know what they say. Rules are meant to be broken . . .

MY REVIEW

The Stud Next Door is a sweet and sexy read that is sure to leave readers with a smile on their faces and is the perfect read to kick off the new year.

The Stud Next Door follows the story of single dad, Connor and Jessa. Connor is adjusting to life as a single father, but when it comes to parenting advice, he doesn’t have anyone to turn to and juggling work and a baby is harder than it appears. So when Jessa appears, it’s like all of Connor’s prayers have been answered. The only problem, she’s leaving in two months….

The Stud Next Door was a quick and easy read for me. I fell head over heels for Connor and Jessa instantly. They clicked right off the bat. And while their chemistry was off the charts, they wanted what was best for baby Marley and tried to fight the intensity of what they were feeling. Even though they tried to fight it, their feelings were too much to be ignored. They were the perfect match in all the ways and I just loved the ease of their relationship.

The Stud Next Door is the perfect read to kick off the new year with. It’s sexy, sweet, and well written. I loved that this story didn’t have an ounce of drama to it. It was just a straight-up love story that captured my heart from the first page and left me devouring each and every word. All in all, a great read to spend your day curled up with!

Review: Our Italian Summer by Jennifer Probst

From New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst comes a new women’s fiction novel featuring three generations of Ferrari women who need to heal the broken pieces of their lives…and one trip of a lifetime through Italy.

Workaholic, career-obsessed Francesca is fiercely independent and successful in all areas of life except one: family. She struggles to make time for her relationship with her teenage daughter, Allegra, and the two have become practically strangers to each other. When Allegra hangs out with a new crowd and is arrested for drug possession, Francesca gives in to her mother’s wish that they take one epic summer vacation to trace their family roots in Italy. What she never expected was to be faced with the choice of a lifetime. . . .

Allegra wants to make her grandmother happy, but she hates the idea of forced time with her mother and vows to fight every step of the ridiculous tour, until a young man on the verge of priesthood begins to show her the power of acceptance, healing, and the heartbreaking complications of love.

Sophia knows her girls are in trouble. A summer filled with the possibility for change is what they all desperately need. Among the ruins of ancient Rome, the small churches of Assisi, and the rolling hills of Tuscany, Sophia hopes to show her girls that the bonds of family are everything, and to remind them that they can always lean on one another, before it’s too late.

My Review

Our Italian Summer heart-warming story of family, second chances, and learning to forgive.

Our Italian Summer follows the story of three generations of Ferrari women. Francesca is the quintessential workaholic that has let her work consume her and leaves little room for much else. She struggles desperately for a relationship with her daughter but isn’t ready to make the necessary changes. Allegra struggles to be the person her mother wants her to be. She’s frustrated with her mom and her current state of life. Her struggles lead her to hanging out with the wrong crowd and making risky decisions. Sophia’s life is in its own state of chaos. She sees her daughter and granddaughter struggling and wants nothing more to make things right. However, Sophia is keeping a secret of her own. But before she reveals her truth, she tries to convince her family that a trip to Italy is exactly what they all need. Follow these three women on their journey as they face what life throws them and takes them on an adventure of a lifetime…

Our Italian Summer captivated me from the very first page. I was intrigued by the Ferrari women and found each of their stories relatable. In a way, this book isn’t just a story about their journeys, but also a love letter to Italy. The beauty and history of the city are immersed in the pages and brings the culture to life. You learn more about these women and the choices they are faced with. You learn what is important in life and the changes that must be made, no matter how hard it may seem. I for one couldn’t wait to see which direction their stories would take them.

Our Italian Summer is a story of hope and forgiveness. It’s a story of pain and difficult choices. It’s a story of second chances and first love. Most importantly, it’s a story of family and the bonds that we make. This story was rich, beautiful, and will certainly tug at the reader’s heartstrings. It was unexpected in the best way possible and I couldn’t help but devour it.  I enjoyed every moment of this story from beginning to end and hope that I too, one day, will be able to take a trip to Italy…
