I fell in love with Samantha Young’s writing many years ago. Her words always captivating and stories made me fall in love with a country I’ve never been to. So, when I heard about Here With Me, and that we’d be returning to Scotland, of course, I had to get my hands on this book.
Here With Me follows the story of Robyn and Lachlan. After a close call, Robyn leaves her life as a police officer behind and finds herself in Scotland in hopes of reconnecting with her father and finding the answers she desperately needs. However, Robyn reconnecting with her father means coming face to face with the man who kept him away. There’s no love lost between Robyn and Lachlan and some terrible assumptions have been made. But, when tragedy strikes, these two enemies will be forced to become unlikely allies. The quest for the truth puts Lachlan and Robyn closer together. Their hate quickly turns to sizzling passion. Will Robyn find the answers she’s seeking? Will Lachlan and Robyn get rid of the threat before it’s too late? And will Robyn and Lachlan give in to the scorching hot chemistry between them? There’s only one way to find out….

Here With Me had me hooked from the very first page and I was completely intrigued by Lachlan Adair. I loved how fiercely protective he was of those in his close circle. He was broody and harsh and came off like a jerk most of the time. But there is so much more to this man than meets the eye. Sure he’s frustrating and I wanted to shake him at times, but he had a big heart and a lot of fears he has yet to overcome. He wasn’t prepared for a woman like Robyn. Robyn is tough and can take care of herself. She isn’t easily intimated and isn’t afraid to the right thing, no matter how hard it might be.
When you put Lachlan and Robyn together, all bets are off. These two were the best of enemies. I loved their banter and couldn’t wait for their next interaction. I mean, all that hate had to lead to some explosive chemistry, right?! The road to happily ever after was not an easy one for Lachlan and Robyn. They had so many things going against them, so many reasons to stay away, but I’ll be darned if I wasn’t rooting for these two. Their romance was a slow burn that just left you aching and dying for more. The push and pull was unbelievable. I couldn’t get enough. And the angst! We can’t forget the angst. The angst was absolutely delicious.
Here With Me was everything I wanted, needed, and hoped for. Here With Me is a story of forgiveness and second chances. It’s about enemies who become more than they ever dreamed. It’s a story written and filled with emotion and angst. There’s an excellent mystery whose suspense will keep you on your toes. The twists and turns will consume you. It will keep you guessing, and trying your hardest to figure it all out.
In the end, this story checked off all of my boxes and has me excited to see where the Adair Family Series will take us next.
