Review: The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her Blood and Ash series…

She’s been the victim and the survivor…

Poppy never dreamed she would find the love she’s found with Prince Casteel. She wants to revel in her happiness but first they must free his brother and find hers. It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of. Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed. The true ruler of Atlantia. She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her. By right the crown and the kingdom are hers.

The enemy and the warrior…

Poppy has only ever wanted to control her own life, not the lives of others, but now she must choose to either forsake her birthright or seize the gilded crown and become the Queen of Flesh and Fire. But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat. And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head.

A lover and heartmate…

But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out. Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible—travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other.

And now she will become Queen…

“No risk is too great, no is anything too sacred. Because she is my everything. There is nothing grater than her, and I do mean nothing.”

“The heart doesn’t care how long you may have been with someone.” “It just cares that you have the person for as long as you can.”

At 600+ pages The Crown of Gilded Bones hits the ground running, and is filled with a lot of great story-building, shocking surprises, answers to our burning questions, and is going to take readers on one heck of a wild ride.

The Crown of Gilded Bones was everything that I was hoping for and then some. This book picks up right where A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire left off and doesn’t hold back. I didn’t it was possible to love Casteel and Poppy more than I already do, but Jennifer Armentrout gave me a million more reasons to love them. Casteel and Poppy are #couplegoals! Their chemistry and passion for one another are off the charts and I simply can’t get enough of it. They are the ultimate power couple, a force to be reckoned with….

In The Crown of Gilded Bones, we get a lot of answers and are left with a handful more. I loved seeing all of the pieces come together and all of the omg moments. This story kept me on the edge of my, wondering what would happen next. I’ll be honest with you, I had no idea how things were going to play out and I loved it. I loved all of the surprises, twists, and jaw-dropping moments.

The Crown of Gilded Bones exceed my expectations and was a thrilling ride right to the very end. The ending was fantastic and in my opinion, is just a taste of what’s to come. The stage has been set. Tensions are extremely high. I’m on pins and needles dying to know how this is all going to play out in the end. One thing I know for certain, Jennifer Armentrout is going to hit me with all of the feels and keep me helplessly glued to the pages.

In the end, all I can say is, settle in, cancel your plans, and curl up with this fantastic book. Your world is about to be rocked and I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did.
