Rifts and Refrains is the second book in the Hush Note Series and it follows the story of Graham and Quinn. From the moment I met Quinn, I was absolutely intrigued with her. Quinn is the famous female drummer for Hush Note. She’s living the dream, but a part of her is missing. She left home at the bright age of 18 and never looked back. But, there’s more to her story than meets the eyes. When a family tragedy pulls Quinn home, Quinn is faced with the past she left behind. Will time be able to mend the pain of the past? Will the heartache ever go away? Will Quinn ever feel good about being home? There’s only one way to find out….
Rifts and Refrains is a heartachingly beautiful second chance romance. It’s rich with emotion and will leave you with all the feels. Quinn left home at the age of 18 after a fight with her family. Nine painful years have gone by with no closure in sight. So, when a family tragedy forces Quinn to come home, not only will she have to face the ghosts of her past, but also the man she left behind. I had a lot of mixed feelings when I first met Quinn’s family. Nine years may have past, but their hurt was clear as day. It shouldn’t have taken a tragedy to bring them back together, but sometimes, it’s the moments that hurt us the most that bring us back together. That brings us to Graham. Graham was everything to Quinn. But, a few harsh moments and wrong decisions tore them apart. Graham doesn’t know what to think now that Quinn has returned home. And it’s not just himself that he has to think about. He’s also a single father. Time may have passed, but there is no denying the pull between Quinn and Graham. The love these two share is the kind that can withstand anything. They just have to be willing to fight for it. Neither one of these characters were perfect. They both made tough decisions that they would learn to regret. But, they were young and stupid and couldn’t see what they were giving up. This couple is the kind that you just want to root for. They give you a reason to stay glued to their story and hope for a happily ever after.
Rifts and Refrains took my expectations and blew them out of the water. Devney Perry has knocked it out the park with this emotional second chance romance and will leave readers hooked on each and every word. I’m not ashamed to say that I devoured this book. It was filled with so much delicious angst, there wasn’t a chance of me putting it down. I’m not lying when I say I had tears in my eyes throughout most of this book. I was just filled with so much emotion and so consumed by Quinn and Graham’s story.
Rifts and Refrains took me on one heck of an emotional journey and in the end, left me with all of the feels. There wasn’t one moment of this story that I didn’t love and that is a rare thing. This book is truly special. It is everything that I want and need from not only a rockstar romance but a second chance romance as well. I loved getting swept up in this story and highly recommend checking it out.
