Review: Trying to Score (Hot Jocks #3) by Kendall Ryan

By Kendall Ryan
Release Day: November 12, 2019

Teddy King excels at many things. Playing hockey. Check. Scoring on and off the ice. Check. Being stupidly attractive … Double check.

Despite his demanding schedule, he still finds time to annoy me. I knew him way back when. Before he was the guy everyone wanted a piece of, he was just a rebellious college co-ed and one of my more energetic study partners.

But secrets have a way of getting out, and a steamy encounter from our college days (that we probably shouldn’t have filmed) is about to cause a major scandal. Unless we can work together to stop it.

Teddy’s no stranger to hard work … but the thing he wants most?

Is me.

Note: This high-heat standalone is chock-full of scorching banter and steamy good times. He’s a testosterone-dripping hockey player who wants a second chance. She’s a tough as nails attorney intent on making partner. Frienemies to lovers. No cliffhanger. Enjoy!

Your favorite hot jocks are back with an all new stand-alone novel. If you like sexy, confident men who know how to handle a stick (on and off the ice), and smart women who are strong enough to keep all those big egos in check, this series of athlete romances is perfect for you!

Trying to Score is a super cute addition to the Hot Jocks Series. Trying to Score follows the story of Teddy and Sara. Teddy loves playing hockey and is good at what he does. But, when a steamy secret is threatened to be exposed, Teddy turns to the one person he hopes can get him out of this mess. Sara is a hardworking, and takes no prisoners when it comes to her job. On the outside, it seems as though she can’t stand Teddy, but there’s more to these two than meets the eye. These two frenemies used to be anything but. Some things are better to remain in the past. But when it comes to Sara and Teddy, their burning hot chemistry refuses to buried. Will Sara be able to save Teddy from a major scandal? There’s only one way to find out….

Overall, I thought this book was a quick and easy read. Sara and Teddy were a lot of fun to get to know. Their chemistry was off the charts and I really enjoyed learning about their past. There was definitely more to these two than meets the eyes. They rocked an enemies to lovers vibe and tension between them was scorching. I loved how these two were thrown together because of scandal. It exposed thoughts and feelings that were long buried. I enjoyed watching the two of them try to figure things out and had so much fun just getting lost in their story.

Trying to Score is a super quick and sexy read. It’s a friends to enemies to lovers type story. The banter is fun and the tension oozes off the pages. I easily devoured Sara and Teddy’s story and think that it’s a great addition to this series. All in all, this was a great book to spend my day getting lost in.
