Review: Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis

Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that–but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

My Review

Hot Winter Nights is a fun and flirty friends to lovers romance. Hot Winter Nights follows the story of Lucas and Molly. From the moment we meet up with Lucas and Molly, you can tell that they are just going to be explosive. Their chemistry is obvious right off the bat. Lucas knows he should stay away from Molly, but he can’t fight the pull. And Molly has had a crush on Lucas for the longest time and can’t stop thinking about the night she spent with him. While nothing happened that night, it only intensifies the way that Molly feels for Lucas. So, when an opportunity presents itself for Molly’s first case, she can’t help but jump at the chance for a distraction….

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I had a lot of fun losing myself in the characters and their story. I loved the idea of the story and the case of the Bad Santa. I thought this story had some great suspense and I was excited to see Molly prove herself to everyone. Molly was super smart and had some really great instincts. She couldn’t have found a better partner than Lucas. Not only did they have amazing chemistry, but Lucas knew his stuff and gave Molly the support that she needed. I loved watching these two work together and see the tension just sizzle between them. I couldn’t wait for them to get to the bottom of what was going on and more importantly, I couldn’t wait for them to give in to their feelings.

Hot Winter Nights is a fun and entertaining read with just the right amount of steam, romance, action and suspense. It’s a great book to spend your day getting swept up in and will definitely put you in the holiday spirit.
