Review: The Chase by Elle Kennedy

Posted on

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

My Review

“Some kisses are a prelude to sex. Some happen out of boredom. Some make your body tingle, others might leave feeling nothing at all. But what all those kisses have in common? They’re just kisses. They’re not THE KISS. The one that lingers in your mind for hours, even days, after it’s over. The one that has you randomly touching your lips and breaking out in a warm, fluttery shiver as you remember the feel of his mouth on you.”

“Loving yourself is hard enough. Silencing the inner critic borders on impossible.”

“I want a man with clear intentions. A man who makes an effort and is excited to spend time with me. A man who actually wants to want me.”

Man! Oh, man! Have I ever been dying to get my hands on this book. The Chase is the first book in the exciting new Briar U Series and let me tell you, this story does not disappoint. Brair U is a real treat that will captivate you and keep you begging for more.

From familiar faces to brand new ones, there is so much to love about this story. The characters are fantastic and you are going to want to know all there is to know about each and every one. Fitzy and Summer won me over from the very beginning. At first glance, Summer is the girl that you think you know everything about: spoiled, beautiful, clueless, the life of the party. And Fitzy couldn’t be more her opposite: Hockey player, intelligent, artsy, a total introvert. But, let me tell you there is so much more to these two characters than meets the eye. Summer is definitely beautiful and is always down to party. But, she’s also very smart and sensitive. Things don’t come naturally for her despite what others may think. And even though Fitzy is totally out of her league, she can’t help but want him…

Fitzy and Summer were everything I wanted and then some. Their push and pull was off the charts and led to some seriously fantastic angst. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them. I gobbled up all of the will they/won’t they moments and held my breath while watching them try to figure things out. They had me twisted and tied up in the most delicious knots.

The Chase reminded me exactly why I love NA books so much. The plot was fun and entertaining. The characters were easy to relate to and had you dying to get to know them. The sexual tension was intense and burned up the pages. The friendships were just what everyone could want and hope for. Add in some drama, a sleazy professor and some seriously funny moments, and you’ve got all the elements for a terrific read. I loved every single thing about this book and could not be more excited to get my hands on the next book in this series. I totally recommend giving The Chase a try.

  1. We all know it takes time to get in and out in regards to a bathroom wait.
Increasing visibility is an honest start in the actual best
direction but it’s only this, a first-class start.
