Review: Deadly Secret (Sons of Broad #2) by Tara Thomas

Posted on

In this next novel in the stunning romantic suspense Sons of Broad series from Tara Thomas comes a novel of deadly games and uninhibited passion. In the sultry streets of Charleston, one family, ruled by its powerful, take-no-prisoners sons, has risen to the top. But a ruthless serial killer is out to destroy them…and everyone they hold close…

Knox Benedict is known as the Saint. He’s the upstanding son of the Benedict family, the moral backbone, the one who sets his entire life by the world of rules and constraints he’s created for himself. But Knox Benedict has a secret. A secret that has unleashed the intense passion, the fierce hunger that lives deep within him. A secret he’d live and die for. But a deadly enemy of the Benedict’s is about to take Knox’s hidden life and fling it out into the open…and in the process, begin a dangerous game.

Bea was never supposed to be Knox Benedict’s wife. They were rivals, locked in a dead heat on opposite sides of a negotiation table, supposed to fight tooth and nail. Instead, she took one look at those smoldering Benedict eyes and knew there would be no loving anyone else. But when Bea’s investigation into Benedict industries leads to an attack that leaves her for dead, Bea knows she has to follow through with what she’s started – just as Knox knows he must keep his secret wife safe, even if it means sacrificing everything he knows.

As an enemy strikes closer and closer to Bea with every waking day, Bea and Knox must race to uncover the truth, before it’s too late.

My Review

Deadly Secret is the second installment of the Sons of Broad Series. It picks up right where the last book left off and follows the story of Knox and Bea. Knox is a one of kind, stand-up guy. He’s followed the rules his entire life. However, Knox has a secret. A secret that he would live and die for. He would do anything to protect his secret and just how far he would go is about to be tested….Bea and Knox were never supposed to be. They were rivals and fought each other at every turn. But somewhere along the way, their tension turned into an undeniable passion. Bea knew there would never be anyone else for her. When an investigation has an unexpected turn, Bea is forced to make a decision  she never thought she’d have to. Keeping her marriage a secret has never been more important….

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It started off with a bang like the novellas that I’ve read from this series and had me positively hooked. I was captivated and intrigued by Bea and Knox. I loved seeing the two of them together and could tell that their feelings for one another were genuine. Just like the previous books in this series, Deadly Secret is filled with mystery and suspense. Once again, “The Gentleman” is up to no good and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Deadly Secret was a terrific read from beginning to end. The characters were smart and full of intrigue. I loved the mystery, suspense and danger that surrounded the story. Add in some romance and some seriously steamy reads, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a great afternoon read.

Deadly Secrets will keep you on the edge of your seat right until the very end and just when you think everything is all squared away, you’ll be left with another cliffhanger that will have you begging to get the next book in your hands….
