Review: No Ordinary Love (Sweetbriar Cove #6) by Melody Grace

Posted on

For journalist Eliza Bennett, summers in Sweetbriar Cove were her happiest childhood memories. Now that she’s been unceremoniously fired, evicted, and dumped (all in the same week), she hopes the small town will work its magic again and help get her life back on track. She definitely isn’t looking for a distraction like the handsome stranger she meets on her way into town… especially when she discovers he might be the man behind her recent misfortunes.

Cal Prescott is in Sweetbriar Cove adjusting to (or escaping from) his new role as head of the family company. He’s always prided himself on his cool logic, but reckoning with the outspoken spitfire, Eliza, is making him forget his responsibilities – and why falling in love would be such a bad idea.

The sparks between them are red-hot, and soon, their passion is heating up the summer nights. But can Eliza and Cal find a way through their differences – or will this opposites-attract romance burn out before it even begins?

My Review

“Cal was already in withdrawal. He’d never felt like this before, craving a woman with such a raw, animal need. Her touch. Her kiss. A smile. He was a red-blooded man, sure, but Eliza set something in him burning out of control, and he was just about ready to give up fighting it.”

“The sparks caught, and just like that, he was on fire.”

“That’s how you know it’s real. Anyone can stick around when it’s smooth sailing. It’s how someone acts when you hit rough waters that makes all the difference.”

No Ordinary Love is a swoon-worthy romance with a pride and prejudice flair that will take you emotions on a wild ride and keep you begging for more…

No Ordinary Love follows the story of Eliza and Cal. Eliza returns home to Sweetbriar Cove after she loses her job. Her dreams were crushed, but hopefully Sweetbriar Cove would have all the answers. The last thing she planned on was the handsome stranger that blew into town. She knows guys like him, but he might just be the perfect distraction. That is until she discovers his true identity….Cal stumbles upon Sweetbriar Cove to escape it all. He’s hardworking and chained to his job. The pressure is always on and sometimes he feels like he can’t breathe, so an impromptu vacation might just be what the doctor ordered. Cal has always prided himself with his cool, smart logic, but meeting Eliza turned his entire world upside down. She makes him question every and anything. She makes him see the world in a whole other light. Falling in love could be so easy, if only they could see past what makes them so entirely different….

No Ordinary Love sucked me in from page one. I fell completely head over heels for Cal and Eliza. I loved Eliza’s smart and honest mouth. She told you how things were and stood up for what she believed in. If you were lucky enough to break through her walls, she was the best friend you could ask for. She loved deeply and with her whole heart and was loyal to those she held dear. She wasn’t born to a world filled with money and enjoyed the little things in life. And Cal couldn’t be more her opposite. He is rich and successful; the head of his family’s company. He had to make so many important decisions and had so many people depending on him. He always had to put on the charm and never got to really be his true self, that is until Eliza came along. While these two couldn’t be more opposite, somehow they just worked. Their pull and chemistry was undeniable. And they each brought out parts in each other that they never knew existed. Neither one of them was perfect and both had some growing up to do, especially when it came to love. But, that didn’t stop me from rooting for these two to find their happily ever after.

No Ordinary Love is the sixth book in the Sweetbriar Cove Series, but can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel. The characters are a lot of fun and easy to connect with. Their stories are filled with lots of heart that will leave you swooning and believing in happily ever afters. I think this book is an excellent addition to the Sweetbriar Cove Series. I am a sucker for sweet, swoon-worthy romance that sets your heart on fire and gives you all the feels and let me tell you, Melody Grace totally knocks it out of the park with this read. I can’t wait to see what story she has in line for my heart next.
