Review: Haven by Mary Lindsey

“We all hold a beast inside. The only difference is what form it takes when freed.”

Rain Ryland has never belonged anywhere, He’s use to people judging him for his rough background, his intimidating size, and now, his orphan status. He’s always been on the outside, looking in, and he’s fine with that. Until he moves to New Wurzburg and meets Friederike Burkhart.

Freddie isn’t like normal teen girls, though. And someone wants her dead for it. Freddie warns he’d better stay far away if he wants to stay alive, but Rain’s never been good at running rom trouble. For the first time, Rain has something worth fighting for, worth living for. Worth dying for.

Ancient magic and modern society collide in a sexy, spellbinding romance perfect for fans of C. C. Hunter and Maggie Stiefvater that proves sometimes beauty is the beast…

My Review

“Never had he been kissed like that–like the world revolved around that moment. And he wanted more. He wanted everything.”

“We all hide a beast inside us. The only difference is what form it takes when freed.”

Haven is a fast paced and spellbinding read. It is a refreshing young adult paranormal novel that will keep you on your toes. From mystery to intrigue and a spellbinding plot, you won’t be able to put this book down.

From the moment I picked up Haven, I was utterly captivated. This story was so fresh, so unique. The world building and plot are so creative. The characters had mystery and intrigue to them. I had so many questions throughout the story. I loved trying to figure everything out and really enjoyed seeing how the story came together.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Haven was how story focused it was. Yes, there was some romance, but the romance wasn’t the main focus. I feel like we got a really good sense of the characters, their story and the whole outcome.

Haven was a terrific read, from beginning to end. It was filled with action, suspense, mystery, intrigue and of course romance. The world building is amazing and the writing will leave you spellbound. If you’re looking for a fresh YA paranormal romance, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.
