Review: Lost Love (Cowboys & Angels #1) by Kelly Elliott

Posted on

Moving back home to my parents’ cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I’d be doing.

But, here I stand … in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I’m still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat.

The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won’t remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most.

But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it’s not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels Series.

My Review

“The way he stared into my soul had me feeling unsteady. My heart was telling me to run to him, but my head was guarding my heart.”

“Fight for her, Steed. Show her that you made a mistake and that you’ll do whatever it takes to make it up to her.”

“He let out a contented breath. As if that simple kiss and me in his arms solved all of his problems.”

Cowboys, sweet romance and an unforgettable second chance at love-those are the words that come to mind when I think of Lost Love.

Lost Love is the first book in an exciting and new series from author Kelly Elliott. Told from dual points of view, Lost Love follows the story of Paxton and Steed. Once upon a time, Paxton and Steed were on top of their little world. Their whole life was laid out the way they always dreamed. Everything was just as it should be, until one day Paxton came to Steed with some news. And when Paxton needed Steed the most, he vanished from her life. Now, 10 years later, Steed has returned home. His life has changed and in many ways for the better, but there is one thing that his heart wants and aches for: Paxton. He knows he messed up and will do anything to win back her heart…

Lost Love is a beautifully written second chance romance. From the moment you meet Paxton and Steed you just know that there is something incredible there. But, Steed messed up and will be in for the fight of his life to get back the love of Paxton. There is not a single day that goes by that Steed doesn’t regret the decisions that he made. He is ashamed of how he treated Paxton and at times, the guilt feels like it is slowly killing him. And poor Paxton. She never forgot the man that broke her heart and haunts her dreams. She wishes more than anything that she could just move on. And the one thing she never planned on was having Steed return home. The moment Steed returns home, all bets are off. The love and connection these two share is way to intense to be passed up. Steed and Paxton have done a lot of growing in their ten years apart, but still have a lot of things to work through. But, if there love is as strong and as true as it once was, they will be able to handle anything that life throws at you.

Lost Love is a wonderful start to the Cowboys and Angels series. It is incredibly well written and a wonderful book to spend the day getting lost in and swooning over. Paxton and Steed’s story hit all the marks and had me rooting for their second chance at love. Such an enjoyable read. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book and see where this series is going to take me next.
