Zachary Kennedy has never been known as a fighter, but he’ll never regret fighting for her…
I’m Zee Kennedy.
Quiet. Reserved. Predictable.
When my brother died, everyone thought I was just the good guy who stepped up to take his place in the band.
No one knew what I was hiding. The one thing I’ve been fighting for.
For seven years, I’ve never lost focus.
Not until one chance encounter with Alexis Kensington.
Now she’s become my greatest temptation.
I knew better than to touch her, but now that I’ve had a taste, I can’t get enough.
Her kiss becomes my air. Her body my salvation.
She needed a savior and somehow she became mine.
Taking her was a betrayal. But keeping her means risking everything.
One look at Alexis Kensington, and I know she’s worth the fight.
Will my past continue to keep me down or will I finally find the strength to pull myself up and Stand…
“As a kid, I had breathed a million of those wishes. Countless. Infinite. Now I could feel them falling all around me. Burning and bleeding out. Disintegrating into nothing.”
“Standing there, I knew this would cost me. Everything important in our lives did. Nothing was free and every action came with a consequence. No. I’d never been known as a fighter. But looking down at this girl looking up at me? I knew I’d never regret fighting for her.”
“The space between us was alive, rippling and shivering and searching. Like maybe our souls recognized the gravity of what’d gone down last night. Paths had been shifted. Fate deflected.”
“For the first time in years, my fingers itched with the urge to sit down and bring it to life. To create and compose. This song? It would be soft and sweet and tender. Exactly the kind of love this girl would be. I knew it. Felt it bursting in that space between us. Sweet. Uncomplicated. True.”
If ever there was a series that I didn’t want to say goodbye to, it would be this one. I want to scream and shout and scream some more. I don’t want it to end. I don’t want to say goodbye. But, sadly I have to. But, one thing that I know for sure, it will never really be the end. The words, the lyrics, the writing, the characters….they will forever stay in my heart.
Stand is the sixth and final book in the Bleeding Hearts Series. The series and story has come full circle and now it is time for Zee to tell his story. Told from dual points of view, Stand is Zee and Alexis’ story. Zee has spent the last seven years of his life living the dream….or so it may seem. For the past seven years, he has been living his life in penance for the dream his brother had to give up. Every single thing he does is to honor his brother’s memory, but at what cost? When a chance encounter brings Zee and Alexis together, Zee’s entire life is turned upside down. He knows he should stay away, but is unable to fight the pull…..Alexis would do anything for her twin sister and I mean anything. Her sister’s life has been anything but pretty, but Alexis refuses to give up. When her sister hurts, she hurts. But, just how far will Alexis go to save her sister???
Family. Loyalty. Devotion. Betrayal. Love. Those are the words that I think of when I think of Stand. When I picked up Stand, I knew my emotions would be taken on one heck of a journey, but as with every AL Jackson novel, I am never truly prepared for that journey. Stand is incredibly well written and will make you feel everything. It will tug at your heart and question what you would do if you were in either Zee or Alexis’ position. Zee and Alexis’ story is not an easy one and their road is filled with lots of hurdles. But, the outcome is so worth the journey. What Zee and Alexis have is truly special. They understand each other in a way that no one else can and they have the intense chemistry to boot.
Stand was everything that I wanted and more. I have been a fan of this series for quite some time now and have fallen deeper and deeper with each book. It has been amazing to go on this journey with these characters. To see how far they’ve come and the obstacles that they’ve had to overcome. Stand isn’t just a romance. It is a story of second chances and loyalty. It is a story of regrets and fighting for what you want most in life. It is a story of forgiving oneself and knowing when enough is enough. It is a story of family and friends and love. It is a story with the most amazing and unforgettable characters. AL Jackson has once again delivered another beautiful and poetic story.
