Review: Mister Romance (Masters of Love #1) by Leisa Rayven

Posted on

Max Riley is the man of your dreams. Or at least he will be, for a price.

As his alter-ego Mister Romance, Max is a drop-dead gorgeous escort who makes romantic fantasies come to life. No sex, just swoon-worthy dates to die for, and the cream of New York’s socialites can’t get enough.  Whether they want a dominating billionaire, bad boy with a heart of gold, hot geek, sexy biker, or best friend who loves them from afar, Max can make it all happen, but he’s careful to keep his real identity a secret.

Enter investigative journalist Eden Tate. Having caught wind of the urban legend of Mister Romance from a lovestruck client, Eden is determined to publish a scathing expose on Max and his ability to swindle lonely society women out of their fortunes.

Desperate to protect his anonymity and his clients, Max challenges Eden to give him three dates. If she doesn’t fall in love with him, she can run her story with his blessing. If she succumbs to his charms, the story dies.

Cynical Eden has no doubt she can resist his fake romance personas, but when the real Max admits he’s falling for her, she has to decide if the professional liar is telling the truth, or if the passionate man with the mysterious past is just one more character designed to con her out of her career-making story.

Don’t miss this sizzling new standalone from the internationally best selling author of Bad Romeo, Broken Juliet, and Wicked Heart.

My Review

“I want to bury my nose in his neck and overdose on his scent. I want to straddle him, and ravage him and have him ravage me in return, and I want it all right the hell now.”

“Everyone is someone’s monster, and I’m no exception.”

“You want me, but not for one night. You want me in your life. You want me in ways you’ve never desired any other man, and that has you fucking terrified. You want me exactly the same way I want you.”

“We kiss each other like we’re afraid to stop. Like the world could come crashing down in a fiery apocalypse around us, and neither of us would notice.”

I don’t know about you guys, but I have been dying to get my hands on this book. My love affair with this author’s books began with Bad Romeo and I’ve been hooked ever since. So, naturally when I heard about Mister Romance, I went into it with high expectations and let me tell you, I was pleased with the results.

Mister Romance is the exciting first novel in the Masters of Love Series. This book is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Max and Eden. From the moment I started reading this book, I knew it was going to be special. I connected with Eden instantly. Eden is happy with her single life and is a total cynic when it comes to love. Her life’s passion is to become a respected reporter. And while she doesn’t love her current job, she knows she has to put in her dues like everyone else. Enter the legend of Mister Romance. He is elusive and has a very high profile client list. Only those who are in the know and have been vetted have a chance with Mister Romance. So, Eden does what any good reporter would, she sets out to get the story that will forever change her life. What she didn’t plan on was Max. Max is all that and a bag of chips. His game is legendary, providing women with unforgettable fantasies. Max is no dumb bunny. He knows exactly what Eden is up to and sets up a compromise. For Max, Eden will be his biggest challenge ever. Prove to Eden that love and romance exists or risk his story being told to the entire world….

Mister Romance was such a fun read. I fell in love with Eden and Max right away. I loved how smart and determined Eden was. Despite her cynical outlook on love, I knew that she wanted what everyone wants: to be loved and adored. I loved watching her with Max and seeing her fight what was sitting in front of her. Watching her was really special. And Max….Sure his job was anything but conventional. But, once I understood why he did it, I couldn’t help but swoon. There were so many different sides to Max, and I honestly can’t say which one I loved the most. He was sweet, swoon worthy, sexy as hell and always told the truth. He was lost and hurt just like Eden, only he was searching for something more, something real. I thought Max and Eden had amazing chemistry. The two of them together were so entertaining. They certainly kept me on my toes, wondering who would fall first and would would happen next.

Mister Romance was a terrific read, from beginning to end. I thought the story-line was a lot of fun and totally refreshing. I adored the characters and couldn’t wait to get to know them more. I thought this book had just the right amount of drama, sexiness and romance. I think this series is off to a wonderful start and I enjoyed every moment of Mister Romance. I am very excited to see where this series will take us next.

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
