Once upon a time, I loved him.
He broke me and he didn’t even know it.
I ran from him.
He didn’t chase me.
He never needed to, because he knew I’d come back.
He was right.
Death brought me home to him.
Drop dead gorgeous and filthy-mouthed with a smile that turns saints to sinners.
A casanova to his core.
My ex-best friend.
And the bad boy whose reputation precedes him—the same reputation I’m tasked with turning to gold… Or so they think.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, after all…
“I wasn’t just knocking on trouble’s door. I was inside its house and naked on its bed.”
“She was like the sun–I couldn’t help but be caught up in her pull. It was irresistible, even when she was frowning at the tiny screen on a silver digital camera.”
“Back there, she looked at me like she didn’t hate me. Like I wasn’t total shit. Like I wasn’t nothing. Like I was somebody. Somebody she respected. And fuck, it was her, wasn’t it. Her opinion mattered. Fucking hell, why did it have to be her? Of all the people that could matter to me it was her, even now, eight years later.”
Do you have one of those authors that is an auto read for you? An author to where you don’t even need to read the synopsis to know that you’re going to be getting an amazing read? Emma Hart is one of those authors for me. She can write anything and I will read it. Over the years, she has taken me on some incredible journeys. Journeys that have made me laugh until my face hurt and journeys that have made me fall in love over and over again. And with each book that she writes, it just keeps getting better and better. She has consistently delivered stories that offer the perfect escape and make you believe in life changing love. Casanova is no exception.
Now, I’m not gonna lie, the bar for Casanova was set pretty high for me. It was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017 and boy, let me tell you, Casanova more than delivers. When I first heard about this book, I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to get my greedy hands on it. Casanova was exactly what I wanted in a second chance romance/love/hate type story. Casanova was all of that and more.
Told from dual points of view, Casanova follows the story of Brett and Lani. From the moment you meet these two characters, you are sucked into their story and intrigued. The chemistry and tension between the two of them is off the charts and has you dying to know what could have possibly went wrong between the two of them. The pull is still there and if anything, it is stronger than ever. Their connection is one that refuses to be denied. As you go deeper into their story, you will learn that nothing everything is as it seems. Neither Brett or Lani are perfect. They’ve both screwed up and made mistakes that could have been easily avoided. There is more to the story than your heart could ever imagine….
Now, I could sit here all day and just go on and on about what I love about this story, but I’m not going to do that. What I am going to tell you is this book is a must read. Not only are the characters real and flawed, but they are so easy to connect with. You can’t help but fall in love with them and will no doubt find yourself rooting for Lani and Brett to find their happily ever after. Lani is the girl Brett never forgot, but totally did wrong. Even after eight years, the pain never went away for Lani. And Brett….well Brett is anything but perfect. His life spiraled out of control after Lani left and he’s just been hiding under the playboy facade. Underneath it all, Brett is caring, kind, and loving…the total opposite of what he allows the world to see. And when you see all of the good parts, you will understand why I couldn’t help but fall in love with this lovable asshole!
Casanova, you have certainly won this girls heart over. Casanova is incredibly well written, and is a story that is going to take your emotions one amazing ride. This story exceeded my expectations and delivered another unforgettable love story. And while Lani and Brett’s story may have come to an end, there are a few others that have caught my eye and I hope like hell Emma Hart will write their stories.
