From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page…

Jillian Lima’s whole world was destroyed in a span of a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun. It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living.

She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what.

Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than her heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

My Review

“Falling for Brock had been a risk. Love was a risk no matter what, and I had been brave–dumb and blind–but brave. When it came to Brock, I dove headfirst and didn’t come up for air.”

“For a few brief seconds, there was no past, no yesterday and no tomorrow. There was just now, just Brock and me in this car, his thumb tracing invisible lines over my hand.”

“Living is all about taking risks. Yes. Living was taking risks. Living was putting yourself out there, sometimes jumping without a safety net. Brock would catch me. I didn’t doubt that.”

I have to say I really, really enjoyed this book. It has been quite a while since I’ve read something by this author and reading this book quickly reminded me why I love this series so much.

Fire in You is the 6th book in the Wait for You series, and while it is part of an interconnected series, I do believe that it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone. Fire in You follows the story of Brock and Jillian. Jillian has always been in love with Brock. Despite their age differences, the two have always been close. Unfortunately for Jillian, Brock has never seen her as more than just a little sister type. It’s not until Jillian is in her 20’s that she finally gets the courage to try and act on her feelings for Brock. However, fate had other plans for her that fateful night. That fateful night changed Jillian forever. Now, many years later, Brock and Jillian are brought back together. Brock knows that’s he’s made mistakes and wants nothing more than a second chance with Jillian. But, things have changed. Jillian is not the same girl that he once remembered and Brock has a lot to make up for.  Will Jillian and Brock get the second chance they both desperately want??

Fire in You was a fantastic read from start to finish. I am such a sucker for a good angsty second chance romance and Fire in You does not disappoint at all. From the moment I met Jillian, I was sucked into her story. I wanted desperately to find out what happened to her and Brock. And the more I read, the deeper I fell. Brock and Jillian had amazing and I mean amazing chemistry. It just oozed off of the two of them and I could not get enough. I was on pins and needles waiting to see what would happen with them and I loved every heart pulling, angst filled, swoon-worthy moment.

Fire in You gave me everything I wanted, needed and then some. The characters were so easy to connect and fall in love with. The story-line captivated and sucked me in. I devoured this book easily in one sitting and did not want to put it down. I loved getting to visit and follow up with old friends again. This book in a way felt like coming home. I missed this series and I missed the characters and fell in love with some new ones along the way. Brock and Jillian’s story was an amazing second chance romance that gave me so many feels and left me with the biggest smile on my face.

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*

“You tired?”

“Um…” I was so articulate.

His grin returned. “If not, I thought maybe we could share a…drink.”

“I…I don’t have anything good to drink. I mean, I have a bottle of wine that’s unopened, but it’s like the cheap wine that really doesn’t do anything other than give you a headache,” I rambled on, pulse pounding. “I also have some soda and coffee, but—”

“Water or soda would be fine,” he said with a laugh.

I opened my mouth and my lips moved wordlessly for a few seconds. “Are you wanting to…wanting to come in?”

“Yeah. I’m wanting to come in, Jillian.”

He wanted to come in, and my mind took that down a long and dirty road. I looked up at him and I had to crane my neck, because he was standing that close. A sudden thick tension sprung alive, filling the tiny space between us. Our gazes locked once more. Neither of us moved or spoke. His lips parted on a quick, shallow inhale. My chest rose in a deep, shaky breath. What was happening here? I didn’t know, but I wasn’t completely naïve. He was looking at me in a way he hadn’t when we were younger, and that didn’t make sense.

And I had a feeling if I let Brock in, I would begin to see things that were there, and that was so dangerous for us—for me.

Wetting my lips, I looked away just as his gaze sharpened. “It’s really late.”

“It’s not too late,” he said in a voice that stretched my nerve endings.

My heart leapt into my throat. “I just…I don’t think it would be smart.”

One side of his lips kicked up. “Some of the best things start off as not being very smart. Like when I tried to rob your father.”

A surprised laugh burst out of me. “That wasn’t smart, and you’re lucky that worked out in your favor.”

“So true.” His head lowered, and I tensed, thinking that he just might be getting ready to do something really not smart.

He pressed a kiss to my forehead.

So not something a boss should do.

But I didn’t really care about that as I stood still before him.

His warm breath danced over my cheek and then it stirred the wisps of hair around my temple. “But you’re right.”

Relief and disappointment battled inside me as I found myself nodding jerkily. I let myself in, not daring to look at him as I closed the door behind me and locked it. Only then, as I rested my forehead against the door, did I realize his jacket was still draped over my shoulders.

“Shit,” I muttered.

Somewhere behind me, Rhage meowed pitifully.

I didn’t move, because a part of me was still out in the hall, standing there, seriously considering letting Brock in. And that part of me was an incredibly stupid part, because I was desperate to know what would’ve happened if I had let him in.
