Review: Filthy Rich (Blackstone Dynasty #1) by Raine Miller

fithyrich

Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.

Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.

Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.

My Review

“I want to be the one to make you forget him. I want to be the one who loves you how you should have been loved in the first place. To make you feel safe, adored, cherished.”

“You are my fate personified.”

When I heard about Filthy Rich, I couldn’t have been more excited for it. As as a long time fan of Raine Miller’s, I have been waiting and waiting for a new book. And that day is finally here.

Told from dual points of view, Filthy Rich follows the story of Caleb and Brooke. Brooke has been spending her life just trying to move on from her past. The last thing she had on her mind was looking for love. Fate however had other plans, and brought Caleb into her life….Caleb and Brooke couldn’t come from more different backgrounds. Both hardworking, but their social standings were on opposite ends of the spectrum. Despite that, Caleb can’t fight the connection he feels for Brooke. He won’t stop until Brooke is his….

Overall, I thought this book was a good read. I was pulled into Brooke and Caleb’s story from the first page. I found them both really easy to connect with. I do think their relationship was a bit on the insta-love side, but to me, it worked pretty well. I loved Caleb instantly. He was everything you could have wanted in a Blackstone male. He was sexy, dominate, it didn’t hurt that he had money, and he wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted. I appreciated that he was compassionate and despite his financial standings, he still kept a level head and never acted like a spoiled rich man. I also loved the way that he was with Brooke. You could tell that he cared deeply for her and would do anything for her. And Brooke, while I did have some issues with her, I did think she was a good person. I felt bad for all that she endured in her past and hoped that she would let Caleb show her how amazing real love could be.

The reason I can’t give this book 5 stars, despite how much I enjoyed it, was really because of Brooke. I wasn’t always her biggest fan and got bored with how she always seemed to cry at a moment’s notice. Please don’t get me wrong, I totally understand and sympathize with the cause of it, but after a while, it was kind of like enough is enough. Brooke has suffered from a terribly traumatic past and I think personally for me, I would have liked to have seen her get some help and finally be able to cope with her past.

Overall, I thought this book was a good read. The story-line was intriguing and sexy. I think this series is off to a good start. I am curious about the next book in this series and am looking forward to checking it out.
