Andrea Anderson has no clue of the thoughts churning around in the dark and dangerous ex-con’s head as he enters her classroom. In fact, she’s momentarily lost for words. Not in her entire teaching career has she had a student who looked quite like Stu Cross.
A widow at just twenty-eight, love is something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time. However, when lingering touches turn to whispered words and hot, searching stares, she begins to wonder if maybe she should take a leap of faith.
But Stu is in her class for a reason, and it has nothing to do with love. He’s there to burrow his way into her life and repay a debt, otherwise his family will suffer. Andie is the first person to show him true kindness since he left prison, and though he doesn’t want to mislead her, he doesn’t have another choice.
Before long, Stu can’t tell whether or not he’s acting anymore, and his feelings for Andie could throw all of his carefully crafted plans into complete and utter disarray.

**Can be read as a stand alone.

My Review

“Sometimes it’s the ones who don’t look like they need help that need it the most.”

“Even when you’ve given up on yourself, I won’t give up on you.”

Thief of Hearts is the 5th book in the Hearts Series, but can be read as a stand alone. Thief of Hearts is told from singular point of view and follows the story of Andie and Stu. Widowed at the age of 28 is something Andie never thought of. She married the love of her life, but fate took him away. Now, she finds herself working hard just to make ends meet. The last thing on her mind is love or her own happiness. She had no way of knowing that when Stu walked into her life, her whole world was about to be turned upside down…..Stu would do anything to protect his family and those that he loves; even if it means doing some unsavory things. He’s not proud of the choices that he’s had to make, but he doesn’t see any other way. Meeting Andie was no chance of fate. He had a plan. Only Andie was nothing like he thought she’d be. She showed him what true kindness and affection looks like. Suddenly, Stu’s job is harder than he ever thought it would be. He’s questioning the only life he’s ever known. Will Stu continue with the lie or will he let his feelings take over for once???

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a very intriguing read. I’m usually not a fan of the singular point of view and actually prefer dual points of view, but I think for this story, it worked really well. If anything, it made me want to know more about Stu. I wasn’t really sure what to think of Stu in the beginning, but I have to say, I was really drawn to his attraction to Andie. I enjoyed the forbidden aspect of it. The two of them had amazing chemistry and even though them being together was wrong, it was never more right. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them. Between their entertaining banter and scorching chemistry, there was never a dull moment.

Thief of Hearts was an exciting read from beginning to end. It pulled me in from the very first page and had me captivated the entire time, just wondering how it would all play out. This story had everything I could ask for. There was humor and romance. There was mystery and intrigue. There was smokin’ hot and steamy moments. And twists I couldn’t get enough of. I loved everything about this book and look forward to seeing where the series will go next.
