Release Day Blitz with Review: The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas

THE PROTECTOR by Jodi Ellen Malpas

#1 New York Times Bestselling Author

People think they have Camille Logan nailed: daddy’s girl; beautiful, spoiled young woman with her father’s bank balance to fund her lifestyle. But Camille is determined to have a life free from his strings. Out on her own, she’s made mistakes, including one that found her clawing her way back after a stint in rehab and plenty of bad press. Now, after fighting so hard to be independent and happy, she finds her life threatened as a result of her father’s ruthless business dealings. Caught between resentment and fear, Camille prepares herself for the measures her father will take to protect her. But nothing could prepare her for the ex-SAS sniper who crashes into her life.

Jake Sharp resides in his own personal hell. He was distracted from duty once before, and the consequences were devastating–both personally and professionally. He vowed never to let that happen again. Accepting the job of bodyguard to Camille Logan isn’t the kind of distraction from his demons he should take. Women and Jake don’t mix well, yet protecting the heiress seems the lesser of two evils. But Jake soon discovers that she isn’t the woman she’s perceived to be. She’s warm, compassionate, her presence settling, and his duty to protect her soon goes deeper than a well-paid job, no matter how hard he fights it. He needs absolution. He comes to need Camille. But he knows he can’t have both.

My Review

“I’ve never felt a connection so intense that I can physically feel it. It’s no distraction. It’s no means to an end. It’s tangible. It’s pulling at everyone of my muscles and stabbing at every inch of my naked skin. I’ve never felt so absorbed by a woman that she makes me want to sacrifice my soul in her honor. I’ve never felt this. Never. Many words are tying to wrestle their way into my twisted mind, but only one is making it through. Mine.”

“I’m going nowhere. She is my fate.”

“I can’t break her. She’s too strong, and when we connect, I feel that strength growing for reasons I can’t fathom.”

When I first heard about The Protector, I didn’t really know what to expect. I just knew after reading the synopsis, that I had to read this book.

The Protector is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Jake and Camille. I’m going to be honest with you, this book was little hard for me to get into in the beginning. I wasn’t really sure if I was going to like it or not, but after reading three or four chapters, I was hooked. I was desperate to know more about the handsome, cold bodyguard. I wanted to know what happened to him, and why he kept everyone away. I adored Camille. On the outside, she might seem like a spoiled, rich girl, but that is not who she is at all. When you get to know Camille, you find a strong independent woman, who owns up to her mistakes and wants to make a name for herself. She wants nothing to do with her father or his money. She just wants to make her own life. I loved that she was stronger than I gave her credit for.

I really liked Jake and Camille together. They had an instant and intense connection. However, they didn’t immediately give into their feelings. They both tried to fight it, knowing that if they gave in, it could compromise Jake’s ability to do his job safely and correctly. Only, the pull that these two had could only be fought for so long. And when they do finally give in, nothing will be able to contain the sparks that fly. Jake does not disappoint. He is a 100% alpha male, just the type that I would want and expect from this author. Jake is the kind of guy that once he sets his sights on something, he is not afraid to go after it. He loves and protects those he cares about fiercely and is a total force to be reckoned with.

There is no doubt that The Protector is a hot and sinful read. But, there is so much more to this book than just lots of sexy good times. There is mystery and suspense. There are secrets and lies. There is danger around every corner. I loved trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and try to figure out what was really going on. I love books that make me think and question things and I have to tell you, this book doesn’t disappoint. All the twists and turns had me questioning things, right until the very end.

The Protector was a terrific read. I had a hard time putting this book down and couldn’t stop myself from just devouring all the words. From the characters to the story-line, you just couldn’t go wrong. This story will entertain you and captivate you. From suspenseful moments, to the oh so sweet, pull on my heart strings moments; The Protector has something for everyone. This story will frustrate you and in the next breath, you will be swooning and falling deeply in love. There is not much else to say, other than I really enjoyed Jake and Camille’s story. I definitely recommend checking this book out.

British talent Jodi Ellen Malpas sold hundreds of thousands of e-books of her passionately erotic trilogy This Man before landing a major US publishing deal and sailing straight to the top of the New York Times bestsellers chart in a few short months. Success quickly followed in the UK, with thousands of readers falling head-over-heels for the devastatingly handsome Lord of the Manor Jesse Ward and his feisty counterpart, Ava O’Shea, as all three books became major Sunday Times bestsellers. This was followed by further success with her second series One Night, which introduced the irresistibly enigmatic M.

Jodi was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her two boys and a beagle. She is a self-professed daydreamer, a Converse and, mojito addict, and has a terrible weak spot for Alpha Males.  For more information, visit Jodi online at:, or, or
