KNOT by M. Mabie
She underestimates my desire for her, my need to please just her. When he’s vulnerable, it’s hard to deny him.
Her crooked smile cripples me.
He hides his demons, but I’m no fool.
She thinks not committing to anyone makes her more honest. She’s wrong.
A man like him deserves someone who can offer that kind of love.
She promises nothing, yet I feel like a king when she says my name.
I never let anyone possess me like he did. Not before. Not after.
My greatest regret was compromising. I should have never held back.
Still, when we’re apart I’m not myself.
I miss the days when she was just down the hall.
He’s better off without me, and it hurts.
The ugly truth is I need her more than she needs me.
Our relationship was born out of lust and curiosity.
The lies we told ourselves killed it.
Together, we found Nirvana.
We learned it was all a mirage.
I ruined him.
I broke her heart.
I keep coming back.
I can’t let her go.
KNOT is a contemporary romance and a complete standalone. It is the first spin-off from the best-selling Wake Series. You do not need to read BAIT, SAIL, or ANCHOR to enjoy this book in its entirety, but if you love angst you’ll enjoy them, too.

“We’d been two people lost. Wandering around, pretending we’d known everything.”
“It was too late for our hearts. I’d surrendered, given up, and shot one precise, verbal bullet through my heart, then watched it pierce hers. There was nothing left. I’d hit zero for the last time.”
“I want to show you how good we could be together. I want you to beg me not to stop. I want you to teeter against insanity with my every touch.”
What to say about Knot…I’m going to be honest with you, this book isn’t going to be for everyone. It is 100% going to be one of those books you either love or you hate. For me, it wasn’t really my cup of tea, which was unfortunate because I had been really anticipating this book.
Knot is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Nora and Reggie. I found their story to be intriguing and unique. Reggie is quite taken with Nora from the moment he meets her. There is just something about her that calls to him and he will do anything to be with her, even when he finds out her “lifestyle” isn’t what you’d call conventional. He tries to fight the pull that he feels for Nora, but is convinced that if he can just get one night with Nora, she’ll see just how amazing the two of them can be together…..Nora was a bit intrigued by how pushy and bossy Reggie was. At first, she seems really put off by him, but there’s just something about him that can’t be ignored. Reggie makes Nora feel things that she doesn’t understand or know what to do with. Over time, these two lovers embark on a very up and down relationship, where lust and curiosity rules. However, somewhere along the way, things got real. Will Reggie and Nora be able to come to terms with the way things have changed or will they find that too much damage has been done to fix the lies that they’ve told themselves?
When I first heard about this book, I was dying and I mean dying to read it. This author is known for her angst and for destroying her characters. So, when this book landed on my kindle, I could not wait to dive in. I was intrigued and wanted to know what would happen with Reggie and Nora next.
From the moment I met Reggie, I was transfixed. He was 100% alpha male. He was controlling and had to always get his way. He was not afraid to go after what he wanted. As for Nora, I don’t think that I ever really warmed up to her. She was stubborn and frustrating as hell. I didn’t really like the way she toyed with Reggie and I couldn’t really relate to her. That being said, I didn’t hate Nora and Reggie together. I think the chemistry between them was strong and the pull intense. They definitely kept me on my toes, wondering if they were ever going to get their act together and give their relationship a real go.
Knot is the perfect name for this book, because it will leave you feeling like you’re tied up in knots. It is full of angst and lots of push and pull. It will make you question things and wonder what you would do if you were in this situation.
Now, I know that it sounds like I didn’t really like this book, so you might be asking yourself why are you giving it 3 stars? Well, I’ll tell you why. Despite this book not being my cup of tea, I am giving it three stars because I do think that the story is incredibly well written and the characters are really complex. This story will take you on a roller-coaster ride and have your emotions all over the place. And even thought this book wasn’t a hit for me, I do still recommend reading this book, if you enjoy angst filled rides.
